OK, just talked to Aaron. He's out on the run course catching people and giving them splits....from the looks of it, there is attrition everywhere. Run course is sweltering, and lots of people didn't give the temperatures enough credit on the bike (where you're generating your own wind), and pay for it pretty much immediately on the run. Lots of walkers.

Quick update on a few peeps...

Stocks is a happy man, but slowed down signficiantly. If I heard Aaron's conversation in the background, sounded like his back was acting up. But as always, he's got a huge smile and is soooper happy.    Good man, Bob.

Sidney Pitt looks good, and is working to devise a plan to track down the 3rd in AG.   More in a couple minutes, plus a spreadsheet update.

Yes, Aaron just told me the same about Bob.  He is reduced to a happy walk because of back issues.

to add to the heat comments... yeah..  it's got to be brutal. My "home" is Southern Indiana --only a few hrs from L'ville and.... I can tell you from experience... late August is really really hot + humid... think really muggy after a rain on a 90+ day... plus Louisville has the added mugginess of the river. I feel for the runners today...the sooner they can get off the course the better. The good thing is that the course volunteers are no doubt superb... because there are LOTS AND LOTS kind hearted people there in the Kentucky area... and they'll be working just as hard as the athletes to help anyone out they can...in a nurturing kind of way

At least this years camera angle of the finish line might prohibit the inevitable tool, who wears something on his head bigger than a sombrero and stands in front of the camera, from wrecking our chance to see our friends finish.

Thanks for the news on Bob--I am so proud of him and I love him and am thrilled that he is making it a great race anyway.

Go BT!

Yeah a little nicer than Lake Placids rain soaked camera angle too.

Youch, what a hot day! It's getting close to the point where the sun is going down enough that there will be some shadows for them to run in on the street. It will help a little.

Sorry if I missed it. Who is the announcer? I was expecting to hear the familiar voice of Mike Rieley ( spelling )

I can't imagine that long of a day in that heat.

Hope all the racersl finish healthy. I'd drop in that heat.

More on the course upates....

Rogillio is out running, biggest smile ever on his face. Things are going just like he likes em.

Bob Stocks is moving a little again, he's started a little run-walk, again with a huge grin. And to contradict myself from earlier, it was clarified that it was GI, not Bob's back, more than anything.

Gaaaary was moving a little slowly on the bike due to a migraine he developed at mile 40...but once back in transition, a little advil, a little time, and then dunking his head in a bucket of ice water, and he's back...no headache, and passing lots of people.

Karen (KSH) is power walking her way to success...she's passing tons of folks that are run-walking, or just plain walking, and looks solid, barely breaking a sweat.
