Let me in... PLEASE !!!   I'm a repeat if you'll have me.

Name:  Kelly Hoog                    Location: San Antonio, TX             Age: 39...and holding till Sept.

Kids: 2 Boys ages 11 and 14 (on Sunday) also referred to as Exhibit A and Exhibit B since parenting is truly the worlds biggest science experiment.

Dogs: Three,   Cocker: Freckles (crazy old lady)    Lab: Kona (or freak)   and Jojo the mutt  (he's the best).

Triathlon Experience:  Started in 2006-  Sprints to IM in 08.

Currently I'm not training due to various injuries but being part of the mentor group and chiming in once in a while makes me feel connected and like I haven't given up completely.

In the mean time I go to the gym and I'm hiking the local trails and going to yoga a lot which I think is helping build up all the weak muscles in my hip flexors, knees and ankles.  I'm also thinking about kick boxing too but that will have to be in front of my TV at home because I am VERY uncoordinated and shouldn't be allowed in public like that.

Please let me stay.

Umm based on your last post in the previous MG....you are not going anywhere.

All I can say is I am having a SOLID day.  Swam tonight again not as sore as i expected for yesterday being my first day back at it.  Did a warmup of 200 yds, then 6x200 taking off every 4 minutes, most of the sets were right at 3:20 giving around 1:40/100 pace.  I could have pushed a bit harder on them, but wanted to complete all of them, I dont know that I will get back down to a flat 1:30 pace for May first, but hopefully can get that built back up for my first outdoor tri in June.

Did my 6 mile loop tonight (6.13 miles) After a 2.25 warmup session, I have a stretch of road that I thought to be about 1 mile so I did a 1 mile interval, with a 1 mile pace/recovery, and then a 1 mile interval again.  Total workout averaged 7:45/ mile over the whole distance!  Man was I happy with that.

Time to go babysit my niece and nephew for a little bit!

Just got home from the trails and threw in a few intervals just because I can.  Of course my knee let me know I was going to pay but I didn't care.  It was awesome gasping for breath going up the hills and flying down hill.  Of course I could have lived without the extra protein from all the new little knats.

Jeff- Nice numbers your posting.  Congrats!

John-  I am seriously regretting not going to Galveston with all the excitement your generating.   You guys are going to have a blast.

Well off to be the baseball mom tonight.  That means healthy stuff for dinner at the field.

DOES THIS MEAN that you will be joining Ultrahip00 (Mike), Ryanp100 (Ryan), kkcbelle (Kyla) for our Tuesday night trail runs at Cougar Mtn?  KYLA- what's your story?  You keep saying you are going to come?!

I AM ALL TALK/NO ACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, Tuesday nights are really hard for me at least right now. Baseball for my son, hubby has been working until about 9pm every night (cry me a river), it's "long run day" on my training plan -- and I am as anal as they come when it comes to training plans (just check my Monday log for THAT sob story)... Keep sending those emails. I know I can't do this week as I'm going to an author reading/presentation of a friend who just had a book published (and is getting lots and lots of press, kinda exciting for her). Some week when the long run is on the shorter side I will figure it all out and make it up the mountain!!

Wow... Sorry we don't run long enough for you! Wink  If you need to run longer I can think of about 6 of us that trail run who would be happy to meet you earlier for a longer run!  We can even throw in a few thousand feet of elevation gain if you want! !

It's the elevation that scares me!! Rather than finding people to run longer (but it needs to be slow!), will you please find a sitter for my daughter and a driver for baseball? Oh, and Tuesday is game night, so someone to cheer on my son and tell him to wait for his pitch? And to steal second when the catcher drops the ball???!! Steve, soon enough you will have the kid factor seeping away your time. And then you will know that of which I speak. What if we did a 5am run instead??!! I know you get up early...

Careful what you wish for!!! We meet there every Friday Morning for a 5:15 run.  Usually about an hour run.  SEE YOU TOMORROW?

Hmmmm..... <wheels turning> How fast are you 5:15 runners? I could run about an hour in the a.m. It's still dark at 5:15 but getting better. This morning at 6:06am I noticed it was light enough BARELY to run w/o a headlamp. Do you meet at the same place????

How far from WA?! Should I throw the kids in the car and start now?? Oh wait, then I'd have to skip a workout. Nevermind.

Seriously, though... getting race numbers is soooooo exciting!! Now the low-level adrenaline tummy will start and just settle on in there whenever you start to think about the race. Are you guys still putting in some long workouts, or are those all in the bag now??

Someone will need to make up a very nice list with everyone's numbers so we can track you guys. Although I'll be off at a training camp in CdA that weekend, might not even have a computer <the horror>...

that low level adrenaline started a long time ago.  ha!  unlike my first 70.3 where it was more doubt than anything.  this time i know i'm ready.  to finish at least.

i guess this needs some explaining to the new folks.  several of us have been planning this race for almost a year now.  lots of smack talk is about to come to a head.  that's one of the very cool thing about this group.  a bunch of peeps that never met sharing some cool experiences up here. not just triathlon stuff.  new babies, promotions, kids doing cool things. and unfortunately some not so good things.  but we get to lean on each other when that happens.  and it works.  now we get to actually meet.  and see how short suzy really is.

ooops.  yeah i got a race this weekend next weekend plan is is  a ~10 mile run and 45 mile ride.  i'm ready for a short break.

So I just noticed the women go after the men....I guess it is because women can stand the heat so much better than men!   is it typical in IM 70.3 events?  As an old lady, I am going to be standing around for quite a while....

Suzy have no fears. I am not as short as you are but I am clearly a member of the short club. They just don't know how grand life is when you can find jeans in the right lengths or companies don't make bikes in your size! Tongue out

Remember my kids eating flour? This afternoon while I was baking my son's bday cake (with his assistance), I asked him to hand me the salt. He gets it and says (in true 4th-grade-10-year-old-boy form), "Mmmmmmm!!! I LOVE salt!!"  and he proceeds to pour about a teaspoon into his palm and eat it. About 2 minutes later he complains about not feeling so good. About 2 minutes after that he's throwing up in my kitchen sink. Niiiiiiiiiiiiice.

Lesson learned. Don't eat salt by the teaspoon.

Unless you're running Badwater or something... And no, no pictures this time.

The coach(es) I am working with. I'm not sure how many athletes they are training for CdA right now, but there's a group doing a 4-day weekend training camp up there in a couple of weeks. We'll ride and run on the course. Doubt we'll be swimming on the lake at this point... but one can hope!! I'm psyched, as I've never been there!

Coeur d'Alene is so pretty.  Back in our BK days, Tony and I traveled around the country (and sort of world) playing golf.  We made a trip to Coeur D'Alene and stayed at the resort.  We played the golf course and a few others in the area.  The floating green was pretty cool.

And now we travel around the country doing triathlons.  LOL  At least this sport keeps us in better shape!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dumb question, but did you have your ANT plugged into your computer and your 310 turned on?
If so sometimes I find I need to reset to store the workout in the history before it downloads.
