Master 2501 | Subject: RE: swbkrun mentor group 6 years running! Kim's Bio: I'm Kim and I'm 40-something -- but I run like a frickin' teenager when my heel's not hurting... For realz!! Look at my logs and see how fast I am!! Wheeee!!!! It feels really neat to run that fast! When I'm not running fast, I'm busy pounding huge wattage on my bike. I may be small (really small, but bigger than Suzy!), but I am STRONG! Fast cyclist, too, but I didn't get that way by accident, it's from all of my hard work. For triathlons, swimming is harder for me, but I keep a positive attitude and keep plugging away and, by golly, I AM GETTING BETTER!!! YAY!!! I live in San Francisco, CA with my partner Cathy (who is a really great artist who also does amazing glass-blowing). I LOVE to go on runs with Ripley, my bestest 4-legged running partner. She is beautiful and has the most soulful eyes. You all would just love her if you met her!! I also have a cat. I'm pretty sure her name is Moochie, but I forget sometimes (cuz really, dogs are the best), and I might not have the spelling right. Last year I crushed Boston and also IM Wisconsin. I trained my @$$ off and it was a great year. I did other races here and there. This year I did the Goofy Challenge (yup, I ran a half-marathon one day and a full marathon the next!). I didn't run it for time as my body wasn't 100%, but I still ran crazy fast cuz that's how I roll. This year I did a duathlon where I ran a 10K and then biked something like 24 miles and then ran another 10K. I crushed the whole thing and got all sorts of cool prizes, including wine! Fun!! My main goal for the year is to figure out how I'm going to get to Seattle so I can run on Cougar Mountain with Kyla and Steve. I also want to make sure Ripley comes on this adventure, because I hear that Kyla has this awesome Flat-Coated Retriever, Trip, who is super-duper fun and can crush some Cougar trails as well. Well, that's all you really need to know about me! Oh, I'm also super-sweet, have a great smile, an awesome attitude, and I enjoy word games and cool words. One last thing: GO GIANTS!!!!! |

Extreme Veteran 668 NW Georgia | Subject: RE: swbkrun mentor group 6 years running! SSMinnow - 2012-04-04 6:09 AM Yo Peeps! Even though it is a Holiday weekend for some of us, I bet I can find at least one racer! Raise your hand high and give us the details! If you're not racing, let's talk about where you get your inspiration. When a race or workout gets so hard your head wants to explode, how do you keep going? For the new people, I post the race question each Wednesday to get us excited! No racing for me. Good luck this weekend, Roni! I hear orange is a good color to be wearing when you get lost, but you'll look like a Cheeto to the bears. My inspiration comes from a combination of thinking about where I once was, how far I've come in the past year and how much I still have to do. And thinking about all you hotties.

Master 1952 Guelph, Ontario | Subject: RE: swbkrun mentor group 6 years running! SSMinnow - 2012-04-04 6:09 AM Not racing yet but well into the training season. I get a lot of my inspiration from the people I coach especially the newest people to the triathlon world. They are all so excited about being able to do a triathlon or get better at what they do. I get an awesome feeling out of helping them complete something only a small portion of the population has done or does. They look up to peoplewho have already competed and I don't want to disappoint them.Yo Peeps! Even though it is a Holiday weekend for some of us, I bet I can find at least one racer! Elite 3072 san francisco | Subject: RE: swbkrun mentor group 6 years running! Hi, my name is Kyla and I am a super speedy fish that lives in Bellevue, Washington with my hubby, Dave, who likes to just meander on his runs and when I occasionally give in to his request to run together, sometimes he just takes off at warped speed without any warning whatsoever. It pizzes me off, but I still love him anyway. I have two kids, named Thing One and Thing Two and they are amazing artists, athletes and just all around wonderful little humans. Sometimes they drive me crazy but I love them more than I ever thought possible. We have a Flat Coated Retriever that Kim mentioned up above, and his name is Trip. I do trials with him and he is a very mischievous boy (please click on my log to see the picture that I took of him with his head poking through the top of our garbage can). He has a sister named Lupine who is cute as can be, but she is a cat so she doesn't get too much air time. Races, let's see. I am a two time IM'er (both times at IMCdA). Usually one of the first in my AG out of the water, I can keep up out there with the best of them! Even when I am HATING it! Last year, during training for IM #2, I tripped over a tree stump while running with Thing 1 and Trip (conveniently named) and tore something in my hamstring and had a devil of a time in the build to the race...but I kept at it, persevered and had a big PR on the big day. I cry easily but am told that is a good thing. I am tough as nails and will give as good as I get. Hence one of my favorite sayings "Bite Me!". I am super duper encouraging and can always lend an ear, a shoulder and a pep talk when the going gets rough or even when the going is great! I can't remember all of my races from 2011, it's a blur! But this year I've already run at least 2 Half Marathons and have Portland Rev3 on my schedule which is one week before Kim's Vineman 70.3. Hence the difficulty in getting her up to the Pac NW! Looking forward to another year of rocking the Foo Fighters and SWBKRUN!!!! This year, it's all about having more fun. More Cow Bell!!!! (oh wait, that's not my saying, but "IT'S ALL GOOD!" |
