Let it be true, let it be true!!!! I'll buy you a beer if this is the actual raceday temp! Any idea on the humidity? Given the low of 54, I would think the dewpoints would be pretty nice in that scenario. Now, this is 10 days out...so it will change. But nice to think you are right for now! :-) |

High on Sat of 75 and 5mph winds on Saturday. |

I am just not sure what to bring. Maybe arm warmers or a light weight full zip long sleeve jersey? I know it will warm up, I am just worried about the start! 9 days!! |

I know it will warm up, I am just worried about the start! 9 days!! Bring everything you might need and decide on Friday what you do on Saturday depending on the forecast. For me, if it is likely to be 55+ on the bike, I'll just do a tri suit. Anything colder and I have to get creative. You can leave a bunch of stuff in T1 if you like, just in case. I does help to think it through carefully though so you do stand there in T1 wondering what to do! |

Sleeveless jersey + arm warmers and toe caps(I think) and I was perfectly comfortable w/in 5 miles. YMMV. I pack everything in the car and make my final gear decision the day before - In general, I've needed less rather than more. |

9 | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Half Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread It appears that the body marking is only available at T1 on race morning...can anyone confirm this? I'm staying at a beach house walking distance from the swim start and would love to be able to avoid having to go to T1 if possible... Thanks for the guidance, and good luck next week! |

You don't plan on checking your tires, putting nutrition on the bike, setting up your T1 area prior to the start? If your answer to anything above in no, then mark yourself and head to the start. |

I can't imagine not doing all that stuff listed above!!! Get over to T1 and do your checks! There's a shuttle over to the swim start from there! Getting there might be a hassle, but, for me, it's always worth it. |

Getting there might be a hassle, but, for me, it's always worth it. Its only a mile from the swim start for the half to T1, right? not a bad stroll if you are up for it and there are those nice warm shuttle busses too from T1 to the swim start. On the other hand, if you can sleep in for an extra hour and dont need to check everything, sleep is good! Different question. I noticed on the website that they list "fully stocked aid stations" for the bike. I remember them on the run but don't recall if they had this in the past on the bike. Can anyone remember or is this a change? I'd hate for people to bargain on this and then just get water on the bike (assuming you were hoping to get HEED or something else). Here's what they list: 1) What will be served at the aid stations on the bike course?

They have always offered HEED at the bike stations. Gets handed out in regular HEED bike bottles and they have always mixed it as 1 scoop of HEED in the, I think 20oz is the size, bottle. It is very weak tasting at that concentration and about 100cal. Edited by qrkid 2012-10-11 5:55 PM |

Elite 3683 Whispering Pines, North Carolina | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Half Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread With the exception of IM Louisville in 2010, no long course race I've ever attended ran out of supplies/nutrition. They're usually pretty stocked, both on bike and run. Heed is fine, but, yeah, usually pretty watered down. If you haven't had it before, it can taste a bit chalky. Besides, you don't need all that much nutrition to do a race! It'll just upset your GI! Edited by d00d 2012-10-12 10:48 AM |

Let's hope it stays like that. So how is tapering (or whatever you are doing this week) coming along for everyone? I've downgraded my entire week to dead-easy so hat I can hopefully shake this crappy nagging thing I have had for a few weeks. But getting excited for race day. Will start obsessing with my bike later this week :-) |

Concord, NC | Subject: RE: Beach2Battleship Half Iron Distance Triathlon : Official Thread I did my last long (easy) ride on Saturday and my last 5+ mile run yesterday. I'll do some short sessions throughout the week. Replaced my back tire on Saturday that had a slice in it and cleaned my bike up. I printed my check list so I make sure I don't forget the things I've forgotten in the past. It does look like the weather is still holding out for us. This is my first B2B and I'm definitely looking forward to it. |
