A few years ago, on a trip to LA, I went to the pilot recording of On the Lot, a reality show competition for budding movie directors.

After running through the short movies that had been assigned for the pilot show, the panel of judges gave feedback/critique, and ultimately it was voted on by the viewing public to determine who got booted.

At the end of the show after the participants had left, nobody in the audience was permitted to leave because the producer wanted to re-record the judges comments, some of which were very different, like, "that was poor" to "love what you did, great potential" different. All, i assume, in an attempt to skew public voting.

Plus, all shots of the audience laughing, clapping, looking shocked or confused, were all pre-recorded prior to any of the show being filmed.

Since when can you not trust Hollywood?

Yeah we went to a "live" taping of The Voice earlier this year - learned so much!

Every single intro/extro was filmed prior to the live show starting. So the audience had to clap and scream for literally 15 minutes straight as Carson Daley introduced each singer and each commercial break back to back to back. They had people calling out audience members who were not enthusiastic enough, or sections that were sitting down too soon.

Then when Blake Shelton performed "live" - it was actually recorded before the show, twice back to back, and inserted during the show. And the Sheryl Crow "live" performance? Completely pre-recorded, she was not even in the building. We watched it on a jumbo screen with the rest of the country.

LIVE TV MY ARSE.

So much fun though!

Pre game, duh.

Just kidding, if you still have a short run to do I'd knock that out. I think I have one 2-miler left tomorrow.

Good luck to all Chicago marathon people!!!

Happy Freaky Friday to everyone.  Watch a raccoon struggle to get his corn fed fat body out of a city storm drain this morning followed by an opossum.   Maybe not freaky Friday, maybe they were just getting some strange?????

GREAT news!

G'luck to all you'se marathongers this weekend!

I'm ecstatic that I am NOT racing at all this weekend.  Nothing. Zip. Zilch!  I am attending a Sara Bareilles concert Saturday night with the girlfriend and daughters, though that may or may not be traumatic.

p.s.  still at home drinking coffee.  I don't wanna drive into the office. I'm waaaay too comfy and relaxed here, and besides, it's Friday... they should just let me stay here today. Waah!

Yo....waddup fools.

Good luck to the Chicago runners this weekend.....yes...even Meh.

I've got my only little mini race this weekend too. It's just half of what y'all are doing...but I'm not prepared at all. Training was great up until about 3 weeks ago. Ive ran 5 times in the past three weeks. It's supposed to be 75 with 70% humidity tomorrow morning.....not ideal at all.

I caught 7 fish this past week up on the Snake River in Idaho/Washington/Oregon. It was a flippin' blast.

I think you might do better than you expect.  Believe me, you will hardly detrain at all in three weeks.  G'luck, though!

I want to go fishing... but not serious fishing.  I want to go camping and then kill a small part of each day pretending to fish.

Yeah, it's pretty standard.  They have spoofed it on some sketch comedy shows.  Basically the gist is a poor editing job where thy show interviewer making the wrong response reaction like laughing at the wrong time.

I should have gone to Chicago.  But no, I have to go across town for a screening of a 4 minute short film.  yay.

Oh, and maybe it's the coffee talking, but the IM bug is sniffing...  Not a full blown bite, or even a nibble, but the bug is in the room...

You should dabble.  Maybe do an Olympic

4 minute film??  Can't they just zip up a digital copy, or upload it to YouTube for you?

That's just silly.

It's the same old "crap".  If I don't go see the wife's "work", then I don't care/not supportive.  If I complain, I'm a D-bag.  SO, since it's close to my office but at 6.  I have to work late or find a bar until 6 then go.  OR, drive home at 5, sit around for 15 minutes, then drive all the way back.

All for a 4 min short film screening at the director's house with only the people that made it, and they will only talk about how much they like themselves and their work.

Yay.

Training our bodies to work efficiently in Zone 2 will help us keep our HR and pace even throughout an Ironman. This theory would hold true for the bike and run portion of an Ironman race.
