Seattle has now broken the record for most days above 90 in a year in the span of a few months. And less than an inch of rain from May to July. Oh and no one has aircon. The good news is, I am acclimating to warm weather. Something I've never really done before.

I think the lack of rain stat has me more surprised than the days above 90.  Hopefully it's a dry (not humid) heat?

Yes, we do tend to have dry heat here when it's hot so that is excellent.

There's a big fire burning adjacent to a portion of the PCT we are going to run in a month, too. They have closed a 30 mile chunk and rerouted. The lack of rain in the forecast is very concerning. A scary summer for those wild fire fighters. We may have to reroute. Crossing my fingers we don't.

Salty please, please, please re-route if you need to.

A few years ago here there was a contained but out of control fire out near the edge of the desert that they were just letting burn out because it was not possible to fight. There was a multi day ultra race in the vacinity but a good distance away, they tried to get the "out of town" RD to re-route or cancel a particular day of the race, she refused and also did not tell the participants about the suggestion to re-route the race due to the possible danger. Anyway long story short the wind direction changed as it is prone to do in that area and 2 women were caught in the fire. Thankfully they survived but one of them was very serverley burnt. She is very lucky that she survived and now has considerable scarring to about 50% of her body, including most of her face.

Yes, I'm 1137.

My husband rented the athlete live tracker (stalker) thingy so I will be wearing that as well. I think you may have to download an app on your phone or something but because I'm ignoring all details like that I'm not sure. I will ask him to send me the link and I will post it if you want to watch the my turtle pace.

Swim may not be wetsuit legal. Water was supposedly 73 yesterday but 76.8 today. Not sure where they're taking the temps or if someone doesn't know how to read a thermometer. Not sure if I'll use a wetsuit regardless or not. I know it will be easier and I can conserve energy if I wear it, but on the other hand I'll feel like I'm cheating.

Thanks for the well wishes!

Steve - how is your recovery coming along?  What an accident!

Day after my spill it hurt to walk but I had a good swim though my whole body was sore.  Yesterday it did not hurt to walk and I got a good 25 mile ride in.  Today I'm going to cautiously venture out for a run.

I've been really fortunate and I am extremely grateful that the aches and pains I've had have not lasted long.  I think I just refuse to let anything derail me.  It has been like "just in time healing" for my workouts.  It feels like I measure injury, recover, and then racing in hours instead of days or weeks.

Glad to hear you are on the mend!

Happy to report 6+ hours on the new ride with minimal issues.  Phew .  I think my lower back may be a little stiff tomorrow due to a bit different position than I am used to, but shouldn't be too bad.

Go Forti!

Nancypops--glad to hear you're on the mend and nothing too wrecked. Tender {MELON PRESS}

Kirstiron--I love a good story! And the followup big T.I.T.S. not too sore. I like that too

Oscar story: see the following chats. Well, can't blame him for following directions!!! (Speaking as someone whose run only recently, as in a week ago, is finally slightly faster than her walk ... how the fach do you run an 11-minute kilometre?! I want to know!)

Man that is slow - even I am faster than that and that's saying something cause you've seen the speed that I run at.

And you've seen the speed I run at--like 2/3 of yours!

I have this image in my mind of Oscar tottering a few steps, trying to sing, shaking his head and walking a few steps, losing the song, trying to sing again, running a few steps (DAMMIT!) rinse, repeat. I can almost guarantee that's what happened.

To be fair I've been repeatedly writing EASY EZ EZ!!!! CAN SING! EZ EZ EZ in caps for his running last few weeks--before that he'd run every run exactly the same way, balls to the wall. Pretty much the same distances, too. In his head, 30 min 7km IS EZ! EZ! EZ! so this time when I yelled it he reeaaaaalllllllllllyyyy slooooooooowed dooooooooown.

And I have reiterated he's got to run nearly every day, doesn't matter how short or slow, but whenever possible. So ... 22min, 2km. The last one was 27min 3km so he's improving slightly I've learned I have to assign specific pace ranges for efforts and terrain until he gets this whole RPE thing.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Manatees!!!  Lots of racers out representin'!

No DL this week??  A big WOOOOOOOOT and happy dance!!  We won't count Yanti as being on the DL.  She's just resting.

I feel like her on the DL is much like death and taxes.

I think Robin's bib # is 1137 if anybody wants to stalk.  Robin, is that right?

She's outta the swim in 1:21! Super speed! Wonder if she decided to wear the wettie or not.

Yanti, Robin is a fastie in the water, no telling if she went wetsuit or not.  She'd have been fast either way! (looks like the water temp was officially "78.1") -- and holy moly, did you see Robin's division rank was twelve for the swim?

Interesting...the My Athlete tracker has her swim as 1:31.  I suppose it is by GPS though, so not as accurate.  Anyway, it's really cool to be seeing real time updates!  She is at 34.2 mi on the bike...just turned right on North 75th street!

She's almost at mile 103 and riding strong!! GOOOOOO Robin!! I'm heading up to Boulder shortly to cheer for Robin and others athletes. It's cloudy and cooling off finally after being around 90*.  Keep your fingers crossed that the thunder I'm hearing doesn't cause problems.
