Expert 1148 Santa Fe, New Mexico | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread jccbulldog - 2010-09-20 5:06 PM I finally heard back from the t-shirt company and the prices are the same as last year. The regular shirts are $15 and the drifits are $23.50. We'll have the athlete shirts as well as the "BT SUPPORT CREW" shirts. I'll need the money prior to ordering the shirts. All orders need to be in by the 9th of October. It'll take about 2 weeks to make them and I want to allow 2 weeks prior to the race to ship them out. My paypal account is under [email protected]. Please be sure to include you're address, shirt size, type of shirt, athlete or supporter, and bt name. Hey guys, especially first timers, it sure makes it easy to see who's BT when we're all wearing the same T-shirts in the days leading up to the race. It really makes it more fun and you get to meet folks who you might otherwise not say hi to. Suggest you get one. It's part of the fun. Jasha Edited by jashac 2010-09-23 6:50 PM |

Member 36 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread After a couple of weeks off running due to plantar fasciitis, I managed a 6 miler, it was not pretty !! But the foot coped ok. Biking and swimming is coming along fine. This weekend was the Long Course Weekend, where I competed in the swim on Friday 3000M (57mins) and the Sportive on Saturday 120miles (6:40). My plan is now to increase the frequency of runs and fingers crossed, run a half marathon 3 weeks out from the race. Come race day, its a case of, lets see how it goes. |

Expert 885 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Hope everyone's training is going well. I did the Redman Full Aqua Bike this weekend as a long training day to see where I stand with my training. While I was a bit slower on the bike than I had hoped, I was pleased with the way the day went overall. I learned a few things (first time to use the changing tent and have transition stuff in bags) and feel good going into these last few weeks of training. |

Is the price for the shirts posted here including tax and shipping or do we need to add some? Ken |

He got sub5 by 10 minutes! I PR'd by 6-7 mins. I am pretty foot blistered from running in sopping wet shoes from the pouring rain. Hope this old guy can get back on track asap but it was well worth it. |

And getting a PR is just icing on the cake. |

Extreme Veteran 622 Fulton | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Nice training weekend, everyone! Great long training weekend for me too! [almost] 100 mile bike, 4000m swim, and the best run I've had since I hurt my back in February. Who knew a long training weekend would make my back feel better?? I need some longer training runs, but I feel good about the bike and swim. |

Champion 8766 Evergreen, Colorado | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread 90 miles on the bike in the rain this weekend...I do so much riding in the rain that I might actually be disappointed if it doesn't rain on race day... Not much else going on here...I think last week and the next two combine for the biggest block of training for me. I have just about accepted the fact that I won't get anything else done during that time...I am attempting to keep the dirty laundry and dishes from piling up too much. And I have definitely reached the "sore all the time" point. With two more big weeks of training staring me in the face. Woot! |

Extreme Veteran 483 St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Finally booked my flight, who knew it would be so difficult to get to Panama City from the Virgin Islands - can only get to Tallahasse (unless I want to give Delta a kidney). Looking for recommendations on reasonably priced accommodations (I'll be travelling alone) - had something at the Summit, but after several unanswered requests for a confirmation - I gave up and cancelled. 80 mile ride & 1.5 mile ow swim yesterday, 40 mile ride this morning & pool tonight, 21 mile run planned for tomorrow evening - feel good about distance even if times are not great. |

Regular 72 Baltimore, MD | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Great training everyone! 5 weeks is going to fly by for sure, although not pain free Im afraid. Pushed my 100 mile ride to thursday due to rain today but did surprise myself on a 24 mile run! I'm convincing myself that extra run mileage counts for double in bike mileage that I can't get it. Just let me live in my own fantasy world here. Off to inhale an sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich now! Keep it up guys! |

I'm flying down on the Wednesday before the race. That's only 5 weeks and 2 days from now. Not that I'm counting or anything! I had a good weekend of training too. Saturday I swam 3500 yds continuous, then biked a windy 85. On Sunday morning I ran 15 without any walk breaks. This is huge for me, because I've never ran more than 8 or 9 without walking. I'm starting to think I can do this! |

Regular 171 Madison, AL | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Well, you dedicated folks impress me. I had a sub-par weekend training wise. Took friday off from work for an 80/10 brick. Got a call from my wife as I was getting off my bike at 9 a.m., saying my daughter was sick at school and since I was off, could I pick her up. So I picked her up...no run Saturday, set my alarm for 4:30 a.m. for a makeup 40/13 mile brick. Raining. Called it a day, went back to bed. Sunday...ditto. rain in the a.m. Scrubbed. Spent the afternoon playing with the kids. Maybe I'm just weak, but for me, slightest hint of rain, delay to my training plans, etc just kills my will to train. Forecast is looking good this week though, so I want to get a IM distance bike in with a 6 mile brick in on Friday. Then a nice 18 miler on Sat. Here's hoping!!! |

Expert 1360 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread My training went okay on the weekend. 100 km/12 km brick on Saturday and a 25 km run on Sunday. I woke up sunday morning with a stressed GI system and had to do the run later in the day but I did get it in. Now I think I'm getting a cold so hopefully that won't impact my training any. This is what I have to look forward to for training the next two weekends. blech. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/fourteenday/caon0383?ref=topnav_hourlyfx_fourteenday 13C = 56 F (HIGH!) ugh. perfect weather for a 150 km ride. *eyeroll* |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I did ChesepeakeMan IM aquavelo Saturday. Weather was hot and windy, I had some issues on the bike but was able to adjust including my nutrition to avoid getting sick like last IM. Recalculating sodium and calories per hour while riding to hit my goal numbers was a bit of a challenge as I get sodium from different sources. Other issue I had is my Quarq Powermeter isn't holding it's calibration which means need to take bike to shop have crank removed sent to SD to be tested and perhaps replaced. I hope shop can put on the crank from my Orbea road bike so I can still train/ride my Ordu otherwise my bike is out of commission for 5-7 days. Swim felt really comfortable even with current and some waves, but was my slowest IM swim yet. I do think ocean swims are more difficult than lake swims and more so for slower swimmers like me. My goal was to race the bike so I did first 56 miles at IM pace, then I picked up effort and was able to do second 56 miles 10 minutes faster than first 56 and faster than my HIM times two from April. I felt strong and went all out last 12 miles to the finish and the 95 degree day my body handled it well. It gives me some solid information about my fitness and what IMFL might be like with similar conditions. |

I guess misery loves company. Seriously though, I hope you're right. My anxiety is rapidly increasing as we are getting closer. Everytime I go out for a bike or long run, I'm thinking "Just don't get injured, just don't get injured". Seems like there's a finite probability that injury will occur and then my brain starts wondering "Is the potential fitness dividend worth the risk of injury?". Bizzarre. Good news though...bought some awesome aerobar pads from Cushy. Those things are like butter on the elbows. OMG...like laying down on a pillowtop mattress. No elbow bursitis issues after the 80 mile ride. Yay! |
