Maybe I have to consider the BMC (since i'm stuck picking between the 2 with my store credit).trying1 - 2010-01-26 3:47 PM evondo - 2010-01-26 3:55 PM I'm 5'11" and it's a 54cm. I like the color and paint but man it's starting to look rough with sweat stains especially the 'white' Cervelo logo gavisk - 2010-01-26 2:43 PM Eric, your bike is very cool looking; I wish Cervelo had kept that more simple paint scheme, as the newer ones are kind of ugly. Out of curiosity, how tall are you and what size is your bike? Maybe it's time for a new one?! I have to agree with you that the old paint schemes are the best. |

Payson, AZ | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!I guess I'll answer my own question since I do manage to get myself out there almost every time. First off, it is a huge stress reliever. I am in a very stressful position and if I didn't have some way to burn off the stress well...someone would be going to jail probably. I also like to eat. So, I eat to train and train to eat. It is circle but it is what it is. I guess I am somewhat competitive with myself as well. I love seeing my numbers increase for the month, my times improve, etc etc. I also like new challenges. So last year it was learning how to swim (who knew that would be such a long term plan). This year it will be HIM's and the year after an IM. Not sure where I will find myself after that, maybe I'll do it all over again but on a tri bike this time bzgl40 - 2010-01-26 3:06 PM Question for the group: What do you use to motivate yourself to go do a workout even when you really don't want to, be it your tired, the weather sucks, something is more interesting on TV, bright shinny object caught your attention? Master 1209![]() ![]() ![]() New York, NY | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!A big thing for me is setting goals for the season, and registering for races. On days when I'm not feeling all that motivated I remind myself that reaching these goals isn't going to happen if I don't put the work in. And the feeling of missing out on reaching that goal knowing that I could have worked harder & gotten there, is worse than slogging through a 2 hour trainer ride or a 35 degree long run in the rain. Reading other people's TL's is definitely a motivator and just fun to see what workouts everyone else up to. There's also a handful of tri-related blogs I read which definitely get me motivated to get out there. bzgl40 - 2010-01-26 6:06 PM Question for the group: What do you use to motivate yourself to go do a workout even when you really don't want to, be it your tired, the weather sucks, something is more interesting on TV, bright shinny object caught your attention? Extreme Veteran 521![]() | Subject: RE: Evondo's Group - CLOSED!My motivation comes from so many levels. Having a great training partner is one of the keys. I'm big on accountability, so being accountable to myself and to a workout partner is motivating. I'll think about how much better I'll feel if I get out the door and do something...or how guilty and slothy I would feel if I caved in and put off a workout. I think about how far I've come in my adult life and getting back in "high school" shape over the last 15 months...and how I accomplish more in the first 3-4 hours in a day than most anybody else I know. I'm motivated by vanity...I want to look great and feel great and buy small clothes! I'm competitive, at least within myself as far as triathlon is concerned. There's always time to drop in the swim, bike, and run...and it doesn't happen on the couch. I want to go in to every race being prepared and not having the "what ifs". I like to brag to my co-workers about the early morning workouts I do or the insane amount of miles I've covered. I like to motivate and inspire others to find a healthy passion that is good for them. I really like to eat. I like being healthy...a better immune system because my body is in pretty good shape...not suffering from a cold every other week. Sometimes it's hard...a long day, a long week, but I always find a way to get in my workouts. I'm also motivated by fear...fear of becoming complacent if I just let myself take today off 'just because'. I'm motivated because I love training and racing and the great camraderie in the triathlon community. bzgl40 - 2010-01-26 6:06 PM Question for the group: What do you use to motivate yourself to go do a workout even when you really don't want to, be it your tired, the weather sucks, something is more interesting on TV, bright shinny object caught your attention? If I go into the race unprepared I will be miserable. I also have a great little community of folks I really like also involved in tri's. When I was having my little pitty party last week I heard from a couple of them and it really helped. There are days when I ask myself why I am doing this and other than all the money invested, high from the races and feeling great about myself I would miss my tri buds if I quit. |

Lancaster, PA

We do a very good job of reminding each other that we will feel much better once we are out the door and running, biking, or swimming. It works out, most of the time, that one of us is motivated when the other isn't...and that is good. There are a few days that both of us would rather stay on the couch, but not often. The other thing that keeps me motivated is my competitive side. I always want to improve and I know I can not do that with out working hard and keeping up with the workouts.
