Hi Everyone,

Hope you are having a great Mom's Day weekend.  I heard some terms today on a talk show about Triatholons that I didn't understand.  What does decoupling mean and should I be concerned about it?  Also, when I am super sore after a run, bike or strength workout, does that mean I exceeded my lactic threshhold?  I try to stay in my zones ( at least what I think my zones are) but today I was soooooo sore all down my legs and I never shook the feeling of heaviness.

Smiles,

Cheri

I can't answer the question on decoupling.  I've never heard the term either.

The soreness in your legs sounds like DOMs.  This article does a pretty good job of explaining it.  This usually happens to me after I've done a running race that has a lot of elevation changes.  While you can never completely avoid it, make sure you have decent recovery techniques after a hard workout--ice bath, protein/carb beverage (I like whey protein in a fruit/spinach smoothie) and rest as needed.

Thanks for the article. DOMS suck! I get so little recovery because I am usually so busy the I can barely sqeeze in the workout let alone the cool down.  Clearly I need to because I am so sore!

Came across this video of last years Augusta. I am not racing it this year, but this makes me want to. BTW: I found myself for a split second at 4:02 coming out of the water. I am in the X Terra sleeveless suit and yellow cap. I am wiping my nose.

fattyfatfat - 2011-05-08 9:34 PM yesterday i rode a bit with two women racing raam in a few weeks.  i was surprised to see them on tt bikes.  but looking at the site, seems many participants ride them.  good for them, but f that.

I would want both a tri bike and a road bike so that I could use either one depending upon the weather and terrain.

How is the taper-madness?

ahhh.  right.  two bikes makes more sense.  still crazy!!!

taper madness....   i'm so ready to go!!!!

however i'll admit it the nerves have set in for good it seems. up until yesterday morning they'd come in waves a couple times a day and only hang around for a few minutes.  but something that i know i can't control set me off yesterday morning and that was that.  nothing terrible by any stretch,  but i'm smiling a whole lot more than normal now.

but we're good.  its gonna be fun!!!!

tricrazy - 2011-05-07 4:07 PM Did 65 miles today but I was really tired at the end.  Very glad when I saw my house!!

presume that was on 2 wheels vs. 2 feet Laughing

Bet you were happy to see your house - hope you had plenty of R & R after that!

Where did you ride? When I was at my mom's over spring break, I didn't venture much past the booty loop.. over & over & over....

Hey Marla, yes it was 2 wheels, not 2 feet, although some day I would like to do an ultra.  Anyway, I was mostly in the north part of the county, Huntersville and Davidson mostly.

What's wrong with this?  I've had so much crap weather this Spring that I'm not even thinking about it.  If it rains, it'll make for a slower, safe bike for me, but have zero impact on the run.  And the swim? Well, like I told Dino yesterday "it is, what it is!"

You guys are going to have such a great time!!!  Swimming in the rain is fun!  Well...I guess not so much if you have to sight.  NM.  Dino and Suzy and anyone else coming from the cold, you just might forget it is a race and start sunbathing at T1~~

This has been a tough spring here in Ontario too. I hear you.

But We had an amazing weekend of sunshine and 58-60 degree weather and it was AWESOME. I didn't get out on the bike as much as I wanted to. But had to spend time with both sides of the fam for mothers day. (happy belated mothers day to all you mothers on here)

I think my bike ride was a bit slow yesterday. But that may have been the fact I tried to eat my own weight in Bacon and finished off with Chocolate cake for Brunch...LOL... Ok I didn't eat that much but I did have chocolate cake for breakfast.

I am not even going to try and catch up with what I have missed on here as of late. If the weather holds out I will be skipping some swimming the next few weeks and trying to make up for lost bike volume.

My wife and Moved our trailer to a seasonal campground in Grand Bend Ontario. And There is a nice 18-20km trail mixed dirt/gravel then ashphalt closer to town. I can see waking up before the wife on weekends and going for nice morning runs up there... WOOHOO....Then the beach is just across the road for OW swims...Summer is going to be GREAT. Bring on the sunscreen.

Yeah it's just the same forecast every day this week.  Not that I mind racing in the rain but would hate to drive all that way and have the swim cancelled.

Chocolate cake is not all that bad if you look at "some" of the ingredients.  Milk, eggs, etc...isn't that what some folks consider a good breakfast?

P.S. So I took Minnow's bike into the house last night after picking it up and set it between my bikes.  It makes my bike frames look huge.  (Trevor I spoon fed you this....! Foot in mouth
