just got back from a brutal presentation to a harsh customer.  and i have to have lunch with him and round 2 of the discussion.

is it legit to go do shots right now?

You should do shots with the customer, to chill his harshness a little bit.  Maybe even shots of something pumpkin flavored, since you're clearly part of the Pumpkin Party movement intent on destroying this country.

Mmmm - pumpkin flavoured vodka shots!

I agree though, shots with the customer should smooth everything over.

and your best push up bra!

Hi TAN

i am rocking a push up bra, holla!

he's on a plant tour while i frantically b***h and gather more information for round 2.  fun fun fun.

question of the day:  why would VW be seeing an increase in car sales (by units, not dollars) while the worldwide car market is getting smaller?  discuss.

Maybe because their cars are selling better but at lower margins that the average? Have the broken into an emerging market somewhere?

their sales are growing everywhere except for greece/italy/spain.  so yes, including the emerging markets, SE asia, etc.  but in every market they are still outpacing the world car market.  i can't figure out why VW of all cars??

Who doesn't love the slug bug game??

Hyundai is also growing faster than then exspected.

This I can see. Lower vehicle cost and they seem to be maintaining if not improving quality. Along with that their repairs are cheaper. They don't gouge up their OEM replacement part cost.

Oh Kate - what a difficult situation for everyone.  Hugs to you and your family.

Thank you Beautiful.  I hope everything is going well for you and that Tony is keeping you an a fashion to your liking.

Sadly, my SIL's mom should be going into palliative care, but her son has convinced her that she will make a full recovery and that she'll be heading home so she has flat out refused to go to either hospice or palliative care.  Chemo for her brain tumors didn't work, so now (against doc's advice) the son has said to do radiation.  It's not good at home.

For Tony and I... Financially I don't know how we're going to get through the next couple of months.  It's all a really, really big clusterf**k right now.

That sounds less than wonderful on both counts.  Good luck with all of it!

Shame I'm not still in South Florida, or I'd offer your housing for your trip! I can offer recommendations and my friends owns a hotel in Hollywood, though

It's looking like it'll be Christmas in Tucson for me - Thanksgiving flights home were NOT cheap, and I'll see the entire fam at Ragnar Florida Keys in early January.

It is ok I am going to Northen Florida up by Ginnie Springs Cave diving for a week. My friend from Seattle is going to meet me there and another buddy from Canada.. So I will be staying in High Springs and driving to Various Caves.

This particular hospice care is end of life care and patients are only basically sent there when they are going to die as I understand it.  Unfortunately there is very little chance she will be home again but it is possible I guess.

Thanks I appreciate it.

Yes.  All hospice care is end of life care.  That is what my mother is receiving.  Comfort measures only.  Nevertheless, comfortable, minimal care works pretty well for my mother.  She came back from the brink May a year ago.  That time it meant she got to hold her great granddaughter at Thanksgiving.  Maybe she will make it to Christmas this year and see her again.  I hope so but realistically do not expect it.

We make parts for VW and BMW and they are both seeing Volume Growth right now.

My major components are on the Ford Edge and we can hardly keep up with what they are producing right now.

The market is not showing growth over all but I think people are shifting their thoughts. I bought a VW Golf Wagon 2 years ago (jetta sportwagon in the US)

I heard all this hype about the great vehicle it is. and how the TDI would be great for fuel.

Other then the Fuel I hate the car it has been problematic and VW warranty is a pain in the arse they refuse to fix anything.

I have a NEW opinion of their vehicles. Not a good one. But people either Love them or hate them and they keep driving down the cost of the Jetta along with the quality unfortunately.

this is what i thought, all VW owners i know have similar opinions of the maintenance.  which is why i was so shocked.  they are very cute and comfortable cars, though.

lisac957 - 2012-10-12 8:17 AM Pizza last night went over well! Fake cheese and all. Nomnomnom.

What exactly is fake cheese?

Vegan/dairy free cheese-like product.
Used this stuff.

Honestly, cheese is one of the only things keeping me from going vegan. But I'd always been scared to try the fake stuff. But now I have. And it's not bad at all...

diesel is steady, growth is all gasoline.  in the US there is a WAITING LIST for diesel cars, 2-3 months to buy a VW diesel.

I will say the fit and  finish inside and road noise are amazing. Best quality in a small car I have had. But not worth the extra money and the maint cost I have taken on.

Car is 2 years old 50,000 miles on it and I bet I have had to put $3,000 into the damn car...

At the time it made sense I was traveling 110 miles a day for work.

I could go all week on 1 tank of fuel.

But it is my LAST VW I buy.

Well Damn I will sell someone mine. I had to wait 4 months for mine too because I wanted the Wagon. It is versatile but I work close to home now and would prefer a pickup or an SUV.

I have the Clean Diesel which is easy to deal with in Canada as that is all there is. In the US there are stations that are not "Clean" and VW will NOT warranty the car if you run it through.

in 2010 they had a rash of injector pumps blowing up and they pushed the cost to the owners. $6000-7000 repair. There is a class action lawsuit still against VW..

Every time they claimed the fuel was not "clean" enough. The next year they switched to BOSCH pump for the injector.. Hmmmmm...

I was not either. But I did promise my Dad that if there was a risk to his quality of life I would make the right decision for him.  I did as he had always wished and did not accept Radiation as his power of attorney... He passed a week later when I was away for the weekend. The first weekend I had left his side in over a year. Tough thing to accept but it was the right thing. I think my Dad Gave up so that I didn't bear the weight of wondering about that decision.

HAPPY FRIDAY

I am leaving work at NOON today and going Scuba diving for the weekend and I can't frigging Wait.

SPANKY!!!

Hiya!  Sounds like a fabulous weekend you've got planned - enjoy every moment of it!

Thank you I plan on it after working Every Saturday for the last 2 + Months. This will likely be the last time I go diving until Next summer.

Unless I make a christmas run to Florida. Which I am seriously considering.

FL at Christmas time is always a good idea, sitting by the pool in shorts with a glass of lemonade is an excellent way to recover from holiday shopping

ALL HAIL THE HALLOWED HIGH PRIESTESS OF THE HEALING YET LEFT HOOK HONEY HYPNOMELONS!

Are you all right today?

Any news on your stepmom or when you might leave for the SW?

I am OK today.

Nothing new yet though it seems my father thinks she will be coming home.  This is not going to go well.

My mother is under hospice care at home as of Sunday.  She was under Hospice care before. It works well.  Plus, we have sitters with her 24/7.  My sister and I alternate being there with her.  In our area, the hospice care can respond to an emergency call very quickly, 15-30 minutes.  Routine checks come by once or twice a week depending on severity of condition.

My mother is fighting back again from some fluid build up around her heart.  She has congestive heart failure (17% ejection fraction) and now renal failure and abnormal liver function which are consequences of CHF.   The doctors take one look as think she has less than a day to live.   She has proven them wrong before.

I will be thinking about you Kate. This is not easy.

Oh my.

But yes, my dad has been there too ... multiple times. Still tickin' and definitely kickin'!

And for all of you ... as it has been and will be ... love and prayers.

{MELON SQUEEZE} just for my T-Geeze.

I had a used VW Golf for a couple of years, and while it was perfect for me and what I needed a car for... I don't know that I'd buy one again.

Though really, as long as we live in a city like Chicago, and where we live - I don't think we even need a car.

A motorcycle is a necessity though.

Kate, Tech,

Sorry to hear about what you're going through. Good thoughts for you and yours coming from the left coast.

Thank you.  We are fortunate that great care is available to us.  Hospice is a good thing.  It still isn't going to be easy.

TAN, you're bringing me down.

As for cars, my household is all Japanese hybrid.  Works for us.

You will. I promise. It all always works out. {{TANGEMELONS CUDDLES}}
