Mmmm... eggplant lasagna for lunch!

And grilling out tonight. A friend gave me rosemary salt and it smells amazing and needs to be used ASAP.

Yum, sounds amazing!

I made almost 11 lbs of pulled pork last night.  Used a dry rub and cooked it at 275 overnight....pulled the bone out perfectly clean and the rest was just falling apart beautifully .

Also made yogurt last night, but that's an almost weekly thing now.  Add in the case of Gosling's Ginger Beer that just got delivered, and I'm getting ready for a very happy belly later.

I started a pastrami yesterday. Should be ready in 3-4 weeks after pickling, smoking, then a bake. I used a nice eye of the round roast so,that it's lean. I'll need to bake a rye and make Rubens when it's done.

Ooooh, nice!   I love me some pastrami... is the process difficult?

So far; no. Make a brining solution, add to beef and place in the refrigerator and wait 3 weeks. Next, I'll coat with crushed pepper and smoke. Then warm it up for serving. I need a snack already....

I wonder how much you could speed the process by vacuum sealing it in the brine?

Good point: I'm not crazy about my vac sealer. I went cheap and regret it (story of my life)

Rant.

I'm trying to help my rental company get my house rented. The agreement was that they find someone interested, do a pre-screen application, contact me with the name/number of the interested person, then give the person my number to set up a showing.

Apparently, they hired a new person who has given my number out without all of that happening first. And with my current situation (which I really hoped was over! no suck luck), nothing strikes fear into me quite like calls/texts from unknown numbers.

It's all straightened out now, the office was very apologetic (the manager is aware of the restraining order and changed locks, but not the details), and the person who texted me is indeed a potential renter.

End rant.

Politics, religion, and race.  Seriously got to avoid those subjects...  They say you shouldn't even bring them up in a workplace because it only leads to conflict.

Not how you want to get your heart rate elevated...

Or how you wanted to get your place rented, but hopefully it will all work out now that the rental company has hopefully had a very stern word with the new employee about making sure of the procedural details of the properties they're renting out?

Our local tri series has switched over to serpentine swims for every tri now. I tried explaining how to flip turn under the lane line to people and got some blank stares like I was speaking a foreign language...

My oldest boy finished his first tri sunday afternoon. He has wanted to do one since I started and he was finally old enough this year to do the local kids tri. The last pic is my favorite.

Very nice!! Congrats!!

But unless things have changed no pictures are allowed in TAN. Sucks up too much bandwidth I believe.

Hi Luke, I'm Monica  & welcome to TAN!

I'm not sure if this is your first time venturing in here, but if we don't scare you off, I do have to let you know of a couple of rules in TAN..

1) No talking about what happens in TAN outside of TAN

2) None of the Laughing Out Loud acronym

3) No pictures

Please stick around and join in the fun - though we're usually talking about food, work, food, other stuff, food, more work... etc.   There's a bit of a pattern.

haha, i was thinking of pointing that out, but with TAN's greatly reduced activity level, does the pic rule matter anymore?  i dunno?

No idea - I thought it was implemented by Ron - and not having any info to the contrary, figured it's still a rule?

Yeah, so?? Not everyone ventures out to other threads because they can be (a) scary; (b) aggravating to the point of wanting to go stabby; (c) not worth anyone's time; (d) there are other threads on BT?; so I thought I'd help.

I went to one of those chain bike stores last night. My friend's seat post clamp sheared off and I live really close to the store he goes to (he gets big discounts after buying a MTB there) so I offered to drop it off.

Holy cow! The incompetence!!

First guy tried to tighten it. I showed him more than once that it was no longer attached to the frame, and tightening it would do nothing.

Second guy lectures me on wrenching on carbon without a torque wrench. It was the aluminum sleeve in the carbon frame that sheared - no damage to the carbon.

Last guy insisted I was doing it wrong, and the clamp should go around the carbon, and that the sheared off piece was really a shim... until I showed him how perfectly it matched the rest of the insert... then he understood what really happened, which I knew already.

The more I learn about bikes, the more picky I get about who touches mine (or anyone else's)

The upside?

Felt is replacing his frame for him, because the seat post clamp is FUBAR, which is awesome.
