Well I am officially registered for HHH. Now I've got to just sit back and wait and see if my new Texas Manatee friends do the same

Monica, you could go with "Reo" - short for Oreo plus the name of a classic car company, Reo Motor Car Company.  (This time I did a little research.  Here's info from ever-reliable Wikipedia:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/REO_Motor_Car_Company)

But this is how you learn things.

I hope we're there and settled in time, but this one might get pushed to next year.  I think it might take me that long to acclimate to the heat anyway!

Although, it does look awesomely awesome...

Miss Kitty Litter sounds like a great idea!!  You could call her Kit(t) for short (silly reference to "Nightrider," if you're old enough to remember that).

My friend drives from Denver to Wisconsin (16 hrs) or to Steamboat Springs (3.5 hrs) with her cat fairly regularly.  All he does is meow piteously except if he's either draped on the dashboard or sitting in her lap.  Then again, he's 10 and has lots of car experience.

Probably shouldn't tell you this but another friend who was moving from MA to CO had her cat disappear in TN from the UHaul where he was stowed overnight.  He was captured 2 weeks later and they had to go back to get him because it was too hot for him to fly cargo.  She was pretty annoyed.

World Cup update:  US lost but so did Portugal so US advances.

A Mini looks nothing like a DeLorean!

The US lost but Portugual beat Ghana so the US advances.  I think that the next game is on Tuesday.

Well, I was obviously following closely!   KITT was a black Trans-Am if I recall correctly.  Maybe there was a remake with a DeLorean?  In 7th grade, my friend and I decided that we were going to write an episode for that show.  We didn't get very far with it.

A Mini looks nothing like a Trans-Am either!

Well, there IS some black on it, and it looks very smart...

It was Knightrider. KITT was a solid black TransAm. Nothing on about this car resemebles KITT. KARR was a prototype that picked up a weird grey lower body section, but also still doesn't look anything like this. They tried rebooting the series just a few years ago, but it was with a Mustang and still solid black. At best you could try saying this would be a Devon Miles inspired version, but even that would be a reach.

I'm just thankful that someone else follows these important issues.  THANK YOU BEN!

Matt

Well you really only missed the spelling of Knightrider as far as the trivia goes. The rest was just wtf towards your sense of similarity in styling.

And because it's been too long without referencing AD somehow, nearly had GOB Bluth as the new voice of KITT, but Will Arnett was voicing for GM commercials. Instead they went with Val Kilmer. No idea if that would have worked, but the thought is hilarious.

In my defense, I knew that the two looked nothing alike; I was just thinking Miss Kitty Litter --> KITT.  There really was some logic there, even if it was only evident to me.

So cool that you have such a great place for swimming.  Sounds like you and Austin are going to be a wonderful fit!  So sorry to hear that your sinuses are being obnoxious and glad that you got some meds.  Feel better soon.  And that car is keeeeeewwwlll!  Put a bike rack on that puppy and there'll be no stopping you!  have you named it yet?  When are you moving?

Lol - the bike rack was ordered yesterday morning and will be installed by next Monday for us to pick up the new beast!  Sadly, no name yet - I think I have to drive it for a bit first, but I'm open to suggestions!!

It's hard for me to believe, but we'll be driving to Austin starting July 4th which is coming up WAAAAAY too quickly!

You'll be driving right through East Texas where I live

Noice!  We're going to try and do the drive in one shot.  Starting at the butt crack o' stupid in the morning on the 4th and just trading drivers when we get tired.  It's going to be a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong day.

18 hours straight in the car?  Someone might die!

Is this trip to move you and your stuff down or also Tony and the fur creatures?

The deathiness is a distinct possibility...

This is going to be the first of 2 trips (UGH) so we're going to take as much as we can stuff into the car with this trip, and then when Tony knows what day he'll be starting with whatever new job he gets I'll be driving BACK to Chicago to get him, the cute little furry jerks, and whatever stuff is left to take with us.

So... yeah.  Seriously, someone might die!!!

Serious question:  Do the cats travel well?  I ask because one of Kevin's coworkers just transferred from CA.  He drove his cats across the country.  His car now smells like cat pee.

And that's exactly what I'm afraid of...  They're fine going back and forth to the vet - but that only takes about 15 minutes each way.  We're talking SEVENTEEN hours here, which is why I'm wondering if giving them a mild sedative would be something to think about.

Is Kirsten around?  Maybe in her taper madness she has some pointers or ideas that might help??

Not tapering yet.  Currently in Peak Week Obsession. Same , different name

If they are ok going in the car, I might not sedate them as a matter of course.  Even if you give them a litter box, they will likely not use it.  I would have one just in case.  Make sure they have water right up until you leave, and offer them water on the road, but fast them for a few hours before you leave (maybe 4?) and then feed them when you get there.  You could have a sedative on hand if they need it.

Yep!  It's a Mini Countryman - and the pic is of the car we bought, so it's white with the black roof.  I LOVE it... but now I need a name for the new beast!

Really?!?! The car is tiny and cute, right? I'm sorry to do it, but it is just too easy.

Name the car Tony. Well, maybe you ought to see how it handles first.

Noooo!  It's rugged!  And tough!  And... oh crap.  Fine, it's tiny and cute....  just like Tony!

I've already test driven it (as I did with Tony ) and it's really, really good.  (again... much like Tony

However, the car will NOT be named Tony.  I don't want there to be any confusion when I'm talking about one or the other...

Sooooo...you're saying you'll name it Tiny? You know, just so there's no confusion.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
