There was a kid, fresh out of bootcamp that was asking if they could get ready for an IM with minimal training in less than a month (or something similar)...

I said no - not safely, and they got all pizzed off about it and said "in the military we adapt, improvise, overcome." and has what it take to do it compare to your run of the mill mortals...

I responded with somethign like "the people that do IM's have no shortage of drive and persiverance - the military did not corner the market on heart and dedication."

That went over well with him.

Why argue? Just say `Yeah, go for it.' and watch the hilarity unfold.

I try once or twice to be reasonable.  But then yeah, I say "go for it".

The few times I've said "Yeah go for it, knock yourself out!" to an obviously ridiculous question, I've gotten blasted for being snarky. Can't win!

Notice there is never any arguing or "your opinion is wrong" in the 'Girls of BT' thread and the 'Suit' thread. I may start though..... OMG....I can't believe you wore that. Seriously....what were ya thinkin?

You took a pic of yourself in the bathroom... again... really?

HAHAHA ... I was just thinking of Ashley's boobs.

"They're ok"

They are real and they are spectacular.

I have been tempted.  But that's just mean.

"Wow!  Stunning as always"

"um, not really".

Done.....went on and did it. Of course....I used sarc font and did it to our own Ms. Lisa.

Oh? I'll have to dig back 5 or 10 pages after all of the comments on Ashley Tongue out

when a friend is in a psychologically abusive relationship and can't afford the kid she already has without LOTS of help from her mother and aunt tells you she is pregnant (and has been trying to get pregnant so this isn't a mistake/accident) are you allowed to call her a dumb cow to her face?  replace cow with a word that BT would censor.

Firstly, I hope you eventually got to eat your lunch after the frustration with the lady paying by cheque.  Really?  People still do that?

Secondly, I might not call the person a dumb cow - but I might voice my opinion on how bad an idea this is... depending on how good a friend this is.  A really good friend, absolutely.  Someone who's more of an acquaintance I might hold my tongue, but realize that I wasn't going to be spending a whole lot of time with them in the future.

I sort of know someone like that.  Not as bad though.

BUT, just realize.  They are probably SUPER unhappy with life - and right or wrong, ONE glimmer of happyness/hope/love they may get, is from a child, no matter how silly/stupid it seems.

Is it too far a stretch for someone to grasp at the one thing that could give them some happyness?

People have used having kids/food/drugs/drink for similar reasons.  That ONE bit of happyness.

I'd say `Everybody loves a baby.' or something passive aggressive like `I would have kids but diapers are super expensive!'

Or just shake your head with haughty derision.
