One more short ride this evening and then the bike is off to TBT tomorrow. FYI they have an indoor pool and jacuzzi as well |

New user 4 Clifton Park, NY | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread First time post on this board, but have been lurking for a few weeks. Thanks to everyone for all the tips and pointers. This will be my first IM distance race, and its good to hear that I am having the same pre-race jitters as everyone else. I'm staying at Shores of Panama with my "race crew" - including my wife, 2 boys, and my in-laws (to help watch the boys race day). We get down to FL on Wednesday, so looking forward to meeting everyone at the swim on Thursday. Got the bike back from a tune-up yesterday, ordererd my athlete (thanks for the heads up on the deadline), and got my reflective tape for the run. Now its time to start packing! IMFL 2011 bib #1034 |

We are too. How did you book it and how long ago? I am planning to stay there for next year and book it as soon as I sign up for the race, but is not available to do it online I booked in September...but looked before and most everything was sold out, to big or to expensive. I hate to tell you what I'm paying a night...got a great deal as owner is trying to sell unit. |

I've got to assume he was just guessing when he posted this 5 days ago. Either way, we should start to get a feel for the race day weather in tomorrow's 10 day forecast. Welcome to IMFL everyone. We look forward to seeing all of you in 12 days. Get ready for a great race. Weather looks to be in the 70's - 80's but prepare for our early morning chill around 40 degrees...Safe travels, see you at the finish line... R/D
He pretty much just gave you standard late Oct/early Nov Florida panhandle weather. |

Champion 8766 Evergreen, Colorado | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread The best place close to the race site that is likely to still be open fairly late on a Saturday is definitely Mello Mushroom...awesome beer and great pizza...no idea if they also have burgers though...I bet they do...they had a variety of food including sandwiches I think. |

To someone who lives in a place where it was 100 degrees outside just yesterday its just WRONG to be in an outside pool when its 50 degrees outside. Its all perspective. Be better off letting the kids swim in the ocean which will probably be warmer than an outdoor pool Edited by Socks 2011-10-26 3:26 PM |

Expert 977 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Also staying at Shores of Panama with my wife and dog. Also getting nervous/scared/excited Also having troubles doing easy workouts Also having pains in all sorts of places Also having issues focusing on other things Can't wait. If all goes well I am arriving Wednesday just before registration closes. I don't want to have to deal with it on Thursday if I can help it. I plan on making the swims but am not going to force myself to get up early just to get there. Want to get as much sleep as I can the 2 days before because I doubt I will sleep much Friday night. We'll see how it goes. Duane |

Regular 165 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Staying with Mom who lives a couple blocks from the Walmart. Very convenient to everything. Planning on getting down there Tuesday to have a few days with the kids and wife. My son loves putt-putt, so I'm sure I will be wearing out Pirate Cove and Coconut Grove golf courses. We will also be seeing Gulf World (we saw the zoo last time). My QR Caliente just made it into the shop last night, so no pictures but I miss her already. Actually had a dream (ok nightmare) that someone broke into my house and stole my ride, so I woke up freaking out and when I went looking for my bike it was actually gone (to the shop). Not a funny dream at all. No lists yet. That will be Sunday for me. Just trying to get last minute items ordered and shipped. Looking forward to meeting everyone on Thursday am for swim. |

23 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Staying at Sunbird with wife and two daughters to arrive Wed hopefully in time to check in. Looking for extra tickets to the welcome banquet if anyone is not planning on going. Plan on doing the BT practice swim Thr and maybe Fri. I have been in apathy mode for about four days now. Had to force myself to do a 5 mi run yesterday and a mile swim this evening. Taking two days off working out due to business travel. Think my body needs the rest more than a few extra miles. Strange thing is that I feel like I have gained a few pounds the over the last four days. Just feel blah! Mother in law lives in Bowling Green OH and works in Perrysburg. My first tri was Sylvania at Oleander lake 2009. Small world. Looking for feedback on this; bike is working great so I have decided not to take it into the shop for any work prior to the race. Don't want to mess anything up. Thoughts? Looking forward to seeing everyone. |
