![]() | ![]() no elk or javalina on my run today but I did run up upon a coyote. I think he was surprised to see me. I do consider myself lucky to always come across cool and interesting wildlife that as of yet tried to eat me. Tucson was just as amazing. I also got a compliment on my very bright yellow sneakers. |

![]() GoFaster - 2012-11-08 4:40 AM I'm all happy this morning. Picked up my 910 across the border yesterday, and then spent the whole day shopping with my wife for Xmas gifts. Didn't come away with as much as we hoped, but that's okay - it was a fun day out. Got home and immediately had to try out the new toy on the bike. It paired right up with the PT, so it was a double bonus since I've been without power for the past two months. Power numbers seemed to be in the range of what I was seeing in the past, but I only played around for 15min. Either way, I'm really happy to have both now. I'll be trying out the 910 in the pool at lunch. Question. How do you zero torque your PT with a 910? I did this before every ride with the yellow CPU. You should have worn your 910 while shopping. Everytime you buy a gift you hit the lap button. Then you can download your shopping data and see how fast/efficient you were. |

Settings->Bike Settings->Bike 1->Ant+Power Also make sure you have the latest firmware with TSS and NP support (2.6) Thanks - I saw that it read the settings on the PT last night, wasn't sure if this was same screen to go into before each ride. Watch came with 2.6 loaded on it. Marc - have you tried using GC with your CT? I'm thinking of trying my Tacx with GC and one of the videos, but really want to try out a CT ride in GC on my Tacx. I resurrected an old thread on Slowtwitch where they said it could now be done. I was curious if you had tried it or not cause I know you were a part of that thread. If it does work I need to figure out how to try one of the CT rides before I would actually commit to buying one. Anyway, curious about your feedback. |

Do you want to run a CT "Real video" or a CT course or an Erg file ? |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I want to run a CT or Erg Video - that's what In understood was possible through GC. Oh, and I'll be riding a red road frame next season. Trek came through with a replacement frame and it shipped yesterday. The LBS should get it by the beginning of next week. Not the color I would have gone with as a first choice, but I'm just very happy to be getting a replacement. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() GoFaster - 2012-11-08 12:32 PM I want to run a CT or Erg Video - that's what In understood was possible through GC. Not the color I would have gone with as a first choice, but I'm just very happy to be getting a replacement. The CT allows to play many different types of files that do different things 1) An Erg file contains data that says 300watts for 30sec, then 200 watts for 20 secs......there is no video associated to it, it just controls the CT and forces that wattage. This is the perfect mode to do Jorge Style workouts. Golden Cheetah supports these. The CT will force you to generate those watts. Pedal a little slower, it will put more tension. Pedal at higher cadence, it will release tension, but it will keep you at the power it is programmed for. If you cannot hold the wattage it wants, it will just get progressively harder until you stop. 2) An ErgVideo file is similar. it is made by Ergvideo.com. On top of the functionality above it syncs video to the workout. This does not run in GC. It runs in ErgVideo's own Environment. which by the ways is very cool, because it provides ways of editing the workouts and always keeps video in sync 3) The there are CRS and 3dc files. These do not have video associated to them. They basically control the tension of the CT based on the slope of the terrain. So if I want to put out 300w at any time I can. It can do 10 watts. You can take any Garmin file and generate a CRS from it. You can then ride it, and it will tell you your speed to cover the course and the wattage you put out. It assume you have a road bike position with a pretty crappy aero factor, 4) There are CT realvideos that are the same as CRS files, but with video attached and the playback speed of the video is matched up with the speed you are pedalling. GC supports 1 and 3, not 2 and 4. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good answers on the what would you do. Those Erg Videos are awesome if you've never done one! Have to try it! I don't have a CT unfortunately and just a PT wheel so I just hit whats on a Fluid2 trainer in my garage and it's ghetto compared to all the fancy stuff I see on ST posted but I get the work done. There is however a cycle center about 5 miles from my house that I go to once in awhile that has a big projection screen and the power overlay on the video with all the riders in the class. Makes for an awesome workout I have to say. Best workouts I ever get are usually in there. Wish I had that at my house. I'd be addicted to it. |

You would be surprised of some of the FREE, cool things you can do with what you have. 1) Golden Cheetah, with a Ant+ USB key in the PC. You load a Sufferfest video and an Erg file. It shows you what power you are generating and what power you should be generating. A CT would force you to it, in your case you have to pay attention. But the experience is 98% there. + You get cool music, plus you are in a race scenario. Cost = The sufferfest video. $11 ? I do this all the time in home #2 where I have a Kurt Kinetic and a laptop. If you have a Kurt or Cycleops, you don't even need a PT, you can use virtual power. 2) Golden Cheetah with a GPX (Garmin file). It takes the GPS coordinates out of the file, sends them to google StreetView and displays the image on the screen. It refreshes, say every 5 seconds, so it's not fluid video, but you do see the images. Cost = 0 I used to do this last year. Go to Garmin Connect, grab a GPX from someone who rode down in the south of France and replay it, seeing the same scenery as him. Very cool Edited by marcag 2012-11-08 3:05 PM |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() TheClaaaw - 2012-11-08 8:30 AM Pick one? Probably running. It seems to be most forgiving to the slow. The race scene is friendly to guys like me. Bking, no way. But I also have this crazy idea to follow Yanti into marathon swimming. I need to fix my 2:30/100 stroke before I take that seriously. In other news, I discovered speed work. I am a Girls on the Run coach. Our lesson yesterday had a session of freeze tag where the coaches are permanent "it." My legs are stiff today. The girls discovered side stitches. It was a workout. Good for you and getting into coaching. Girls on the Run is a great organization, from what I've been able to tell. Yanti has also inspired me to think about long swims. I remember that 10k she did! I was aghast and awed at the same time. So I pick swimming. Not because I'm good at it. (I'm not) And not because I enjoy it the most. (that would be running). But because I am counting on swimming until I die, and I plan on living to be near 100. After I've had to give up running and biking, swimming will still be there for me. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Trainer Drama Update: After multiple emails with someone at Saris, the conclusion was basically, "You'll just have to live with it." He wasn't mean about it, but just resigned. The 650s are an issue. He said, "The cam lever is better than the knob but the 650c is going to put the resistance unit near its limit." I'm still glad I have the 650s, but I just have to be careful. Someone in another thread suggested that I set the tension where it should be and just lock and unlock it each time. I hadn't thought of that but probably should have. I may still try to get a picture of the set up. My phone is "just" a phone, so I'm a bit of a Luddite when it comes to digital cameras. |

No, that's why I asked Mark if there was GPS coordinates in a CRS file :-( However, you can convert a GPX to a CRS, but you will not be able to get video with it. So it's either a "flat course" with video or true slopes without. |

Do yourself a favor. Just buy 1 sufferfest video, download and play it. It's trivial to install and use. If you like it, then do the whole Golden Cheetah or TrainerRoad thing, which is a little more to install Angels is fun |

That is like a double Ironman. I hate shopping. I get "shoppers legs" where my legs get really heavy and I usually bonk after a couple hours. I can usually extend it with a trip to Cinnabon, Starbucks and Mrs Fields! I am go glad that I have boys who are only interested in going to the mall once per year for a very quick visit. Although they are opening Big 5, which is the talk of the town. I hate going shopping. I have to ship most my stuff back to Canada so I do the cop out thing and order online from Canadian stores. |
