Funny article today in VeloNews about how the NFL would look if it followed the lead of pro cycling.  My favorite:

December: Organizers of the Pro Bowl discover endangered trees growing out of the turf at Aloha Stadium. They reschedule the game for the next day at a nearby junior high school.

This evening will kick off a weekend of hockey!  The Black Widows are participating in the Hockey Fights MS tournament as we typically do each year.  I'm trying hard to get into a hockey state of mind.  It will hopefully be a fun weekend with my pals, raising money for a great cause, as well as hopefully eating at Molinari's (swoon) and Torre (swoon).

That said, here's this since I probably won't be online much more today:  GOOOOOO RACERS!!!!!!!  Good luck to all!  Be safe, have fun, and race fast/smart!

That is funny, and way too close to truth. I would have added something like "no points were counted in the 3rd quarter of the SuperBowl as a nuetral zone was called due to a wet playing field".

So I've been seeing a guy for a couple weeks . He's a chiropractor who also does ART, and his office is about 2 minutes from my house, and, most importantly, he's a triathlete.

The first day he took x-rays and did ART stuff. No adjustments until he saw the Xrays. The Xrays, interestingly, show that my right leg is about 8mm shorter than my left. Never had this diagnosed before. So he gave me a lift to wear in my shoe (feel like an old lady). He said it's up to me whether I use it while running. He also told me not to start running with it before Pikes Peak. The Xrays also showed that my upper back and neck are both straight-ish where they should be curving back. So he has me doing stretches (sort of) for that.

The most noticable improvement, however, is that he's been doing ART on my IT Band. I really noticed the improvement yesterday on the trail. Recently when I step down from larger rocks I've been favoring my left leg and making my right leg do all the steps but yesterday my left leg felt great and did it's share of the steps. Yay! Now to try riding again  (after pikes peak)

TJ , you are designed to run on mountain sides.

I hope he can help you improve.

Well, it totally makes sense given the pictures you've been posting!!  Glad to hear it's been helping.  Finding somebody like that can make all the difference in the world.

ETA: Don't worry about the lift.  Some pro cyclist who is way younger than you (sorry, can't remember who) discovered the same thing after having a bunch of knee problems.  He's now riding with a lift and finding that it's completely resolved the issues he was having.

No racers this week.  (at least no one who appears to admit it in their training blog!)

Take are all!

Melanie - Hockey already?!  Have fun!

Randee - Beer never gets old!

TJ - I'm glad your new boy toy has you feeling better!  Also, I know several people who have cleats adjusted for one leg longer than the other (not a lift but a shim)

Interestingly, the IT Band problem is on the longer leg. Some sort of compensation issue no doubt. I wonder, though, how the shorter leg affects my seat height. Maybe with the lift I'll end up raising my seat?

Heyyyyy, maybe I'll swim faster now... no, probably not

What?!  In the middle of summer we have no one racing?  I feel like I should find a race just to make up for this craziness

No DL is good good good!  I'll be riding the bike route for my 8/29 tri.  Not really a race, but race prep is close, right?

I wasn't going to write a RR for my race, but changed my mind; so here it is!

Sleeeepy.  And lots of work.  Just been stalking lately.

Quick recap of my XC race yesterday:  91* when the race started. Started out great (8:59, 9:27--good times for me in any circumstance) on the easy mostly downhill dirt road, blew up at mi. 2.25 when I hit the uphill grassy single track, walked a bunch, ran at the end and nearly threw up. 3rd woman out of 5, got bling and a bag of gourmet dog treats. I only got 3rd because other faster racers didn't show up.  4th and 5th place women finished 20 min. behind me; one was diabetic and blood sugar issues and they mostly walked. Not my best race to say the least, but it was a beautiful venue in the foothills above a reservoir and a very interesting course with a variety of surfaces.

You can only race those that show up. A podium is a podium is a podium! And the doggies win too! Congrats on the Series too!!!!

I don't think you can ever go wrong with beer but I've also provided donuts, cookies, restaurant gift certificates, thank you cards, wine.

Yeah but it should have been easy because there was a big downhill, making it a net zero gain
