February included a couple of taper weeks and then injury recovery time, so my run volume was down almost 100 miles!  Swimming was up a little and bike continued to be almost non-existent.  Plans for March include steady increases on the bike and back to running (hopefully!).   Also, I've started back with yoga and hope to make it a regular part of my workouts.

Happy March everyone!

Hello all,

I am still alive, though barely. I've been dealing with a nice little case of pneumonia for the past week+. I've literally moved from my bed to the couch to the bed to the couch.... Today I finally decided to go into work to see if I could get a Dr's appt. My doctor is in the same town as my work and I wasn't driving 30min just for a doctor's appt. So I made a half day at work out of it....terrible decision.

Hope everyone else is doing better than I am. This will significantly set me back in training and the 1/2 mary I have planned for april isn't looking so likely now.

February was a month of ups and down for me.

I started out great, but work travel and illness forced me to miss almost two weeks of training.   Managed to get a swim in on Sunday and realize how much the time away from the pool hurt my technique (felt like a sea cow fighting for air).  Also, might have to miss two of my planned events because of work.

On a plus side I did manage to schedule a professional bike fit and have really seen the difference.  Looking forward to hitting the pool and bike this month.

Good luck training!

Thanks for posting this Ricardo!

Motivation and discipline are hard to find at times.

We're almost all guilty of realizing things "can be better" but you're exactly right to realize that even though it can be better, it wasn't a "disaster."

From your logs:

February's totals:
Bike:7h 00m  - 63.9 Mi
Run:4h 28m 35s  - 18.83 Mi
Strength:1h 10m
Elliptical Training:28m

January's totals:
Bike:3h 12m 10s  - 13.57 Mi
Run:5h 17m  - 4 Mi
Strength:3h 20m
Elliptical Training:1h 35m

2011 totals
Bike:10h 12m 10s  - 77.47 Mi
Run:9h 45m 35s  - 22.83 Mi
Strength:4h 30m
Elliptical Training:2h 03m

You've logged over 24 hours of training this year and about evenly split between January and February.   Works out to 27 minutes a day!

February Successes:
Another solid month of training for me--have not missed a single workout. I've had to rearrange a bit, but I have nailed every workout!  This is definitely the highest volume of training I've ever done and I'm loving it.  I feel like I'm keeping a great balance with family, training and school.  My swim is coming along and I feel very confident in the water.

Nutrition-wise I've had a few slips into past behaviors, but I've been able to pull myself out--with support of a great friend and my friends here at BT!

March Goals:
To continue my streak of no missed training--even though I may need to rearrange a little bit again.  I will have to add some of my runs in after school now...that is going to be a challenge.  I also plan to increase my run volume in preparation for my April HM.   Above all I need to keep telling myself that I deserve the rewards of my efforts.

Back from a great and much needed vacation.  Thanks for all the inspires while I was gone.  Looks like there has been alot of great things going on this past week.  February has been a difficult month for me, more emotionally than anything else but I kept plugging away with the running and swimming.  It's nice to be able to go take a run to cure a crappy day.

I did get the best compliment while on vacation.  My way younger cousin is dating a 22 yr old model and when I met her over vacation she told me " I have to say you have the cutest figure"  Needless to say I like his new girlfriend very very much   Nice to know the hard work is paying off.

Plans for March is to keep up with the no smoking, improve my eating habits, keep working on the swimming (I actually missed it these last two weeks) and to increase the running.  Goal is for over 50 miles this month.

February. Well... it's over. I've learned a lot about patience, about drinking less beer, about logging workouts, and did I mention patience? I have this foot issue and there is a LOT I can do about it. I stretch and ice and heat and stretch. I should put on my garmin and see how many miles I log between the freezer, microwave, and the recliner.

Good things - weight loss and better eating habits, less alcohol.
Swimming has been a life saver.
New bike is good, not great. The guys at the bike shop are not as friendly as I would like. Might need a new bike shop.

So, there you go. Happy March! 87 degrees today...better enjoy the nice weather before it gets REALLY hot.

Cheers McFuzzies! Happy SPRING!!

And the PT who works with some of my kids explained to me why I can do stairs and can't run.  It has to do with the backward leg extension after impact and pushing off.  You don't have that when doing stairs.  Makes sense.

Hello all you wonderful people,

I hope that we all move closer to our goals this month. I will still be focusing mainly on my Marathon for the remainder of this month. After marathon watch out, I plan to spend a little more time in the saddle and I guess I will have to hit the pool.

Have a good one all.

*** Hello my fellow McFuzzies ***

Looking  back at last month ... I'm happy with my increase in my workouts.  I will continue to push, and practice, as I do I know that it will continue to become easier along the way.

It wasn't that long ago that I couldn't swim, and struggled to run a mile!

As we start this new month of March we ALL have so much to look forward to.  Beautiful weather, race's coming up, weight loss, feeling great, no more cigs, & leaving the old behind. (These are just a few)

Stay strong and positive this month. Be faithful in your workouts.  It will make you feel GREAT! - Maria

February was a pretty good month for me.  My workouts were consistent and I logged almost 38 hours of training!  My running is getting faster, and I'm feeling more confident on my bike.  I've got a couple of races planned for March and my IM is less than four months away. All in all, things are pretty good.

Happy training, McFuzzies!  Congrats on your many successes!

Hey All!

February for me was all about getting back into my regular routine.  My diet was far from where it needs to be for IM training and I had not been running much after the Goofy Challenge in early January.  I started running again and slowly put some speed workouts back in over the weeks.  I got back in the pool after 4 months.  And I got my bike out for some rides.

I logged around 31 hours of training so I really developed my old habits once more.  My diet is coming along, too.  I weigh 165 now and I suspect I'll drop down to 160 very soon as my training increases and my diet improves.  I'm really getting in the groove now and in 2 weeks start my 20 week IM training plan for the Full Vineman in July!  Yeah!

I like to read about everyone's successes.  Keep it up!  Collectively, the group is very inspiring to me personally.  I don't train with anyone else here so without this group, I'd really have no sort of support group.  Thanks for staying the course!

Enrique

Nate - hope you're feeling better soon!

Susie - congrats on the stair climb.  The have one here this month but our's is only 42 floors.  I'd love to give it a try one year.

February was an up and down month for me too.  I had some good workouts but also dealt with a loss of motivation at times.  I'm hoping that with warmer weather coming back, my motivation will come back with itSmile

March goals - finish my HM on Sunday in a decent time, get my bike out and start riding outside again, try to find a way to spend more time in the pool, and start a regular strength training program (working on core especially).  I know these sound kind of vague right now, but I've got the next couple of days off work before I leave for Little Rock on Friday so I plan to spend some time working all that out.

Well thank goodness February is over, Come on SPRING!
February: I practiced moderation in a few areas; workouts, food, drinking. Lost 2lbs. Taking it slow with the running has been good for me. I built up from 4mi at the beginning of the month to 9mi at the end of the month running only twice a week and doing a lot of cross training on the elliptical.
I had my first swim since last summer, proving to myself that I wont disintegrate in the water but not much else. Biking was just ok. I signed up for a once a week class which is kicking my @$$ so thats good.
On the down side: The arch of my foot began to ache/hurt on my last long run and again on yesterdays short run. Scary.  I'm hoping that with biking today, massage tomorrow, cross training friday and heat/ice/heat/ice/roll/stretch/etc I'll be ok for my next long run.

March: Excited to do a 1/2 marathon... after that, the plan is to start biking out doors, get back in that damn pool and continue eating well so to drop a few more lbs.

I'm old, so since I'm tired and sick a lot this year I thought I'd go do the cardiac thing. Cholesterol 152, BP 112/69, aorta and carotids are in great shape. Will have to wait on the hormonal and circulation tests. But it's good to know there's nothing seriously wrong with me. They always say you should check with your doctor, so now I have.

Those are good numbers!

I'd say there's nothing seriously wrong with me, but Angi, Natalie, and my wife, Beth would disagree...
