HA HA HA, made me laugh : )

Hey MG!

I was pretty much MIA all weekend... luckily, I missed the naked running guy but I did skim thru the last couple days to catch up.

Sounds like everybody had an awesome weekend racing.
My race went well, another first in AG.  RR is here!

Suzy - Get well soon - food poisoning is bad stuff!

Happy Monday Everyone!

Congrats to our racers:  David, John, Brent, and Chet's wife!  Way to show us how it's done.

I had a good weekend:  I ran 3 days in a row, and my run on Sunday was exceptionally good.  I had a guy (ultra marathoner) show me some trails not too far away that have some challenging hills.  It was just so cool that he would take the time to run with me.  He's done 6-50 mi. races and two of those were back to back on a Sat/Sun!!

Oh, and the weather was STELLAR!!  57 degrees and sunny!  Woot Woot!!

Two weekends in a row traveling to Southern Cal to watch my wife pr the half mary, then the full today!  I am very proud of her even though she didn't listen to me about racing two weekends in a row.  A big woot woot for her.

20 weeks to Ironman Coeur d'Alene, plan starts tomorrow!

Hope everyone is having a great Super Bowl.

Congrats to your wife!!

Sooooo looking forward to your CDA journey here! I'm happy not to be on it this year, but am glad someone else is! Woo hoo!!! I love CDA!

Thanks Kyla.  She was a sore mess going to work this morning.. poor thing.  I did poke fun mostly out of jealousy though.

Quick question though about CdA:  Was there ever open water ?

Happy Monday Morning!  I'm nearly back to 100% after my food poisoning stint with thai chili shrimp.  Lost a day and a half in the process and probably a pound or two, but feel fairly decent today.  I'll spare you ther rest of the details.

Fatty--how did your race go?

Tony/Sam--who won the over/unders?

Kyla--describe those donuts!

To Chet and David--a big "WAY TO GO"!

We're off for a low key day (not that yesterday wasn't really low key!) to Hannalei Bay (think Puff the Magic Dragon) to laze at the beach and have lunch.

Mmmmmm. Donuts. I practice what I preach: Everything in moderation and it's all about balance. If Dave is out of town on a weekend, the tradition with the kids is that we go out for donuts on Sunday morning. I always get an apple fritter -- I am a sucker for an apple fritter. Kids are down with the Bavarian cream -- a big ole' hunkin' donut loaded inside with the Bavarian cream, and chocolate frosting on top. I always try to get 'em to drink a small smoothie before we go, ha!! And after I eat my apple fritter, it sits like a log in my stomach and feels disgusting. But next time Dave is away on a weekend, I'll eat another one!!!

Glad you are feeling better, Suzy!!!

Sore is good!! And you totally should have been poking fun! That's what marriage is all about!!!

Open water? My first year -- NEVER. Not for one stroke. And it really pissed me off. The second year, I did feel like I found some open water. I don't know what I did differently, as I logged about the exact same time each year. The biggest clusters were at the buoys, so I think the 2nd year I tried to take those more wide, as I'd rather swim more than battle flailing arms and bodies. But I'd say that you should be mentally prepared for full contact the entire swim.

Linda (velcromom) did CDA in 2010 also, so she may have some feedback on that as well...

Nope.   Never.  Second IM (of 3).  Only panic attack.  Cost me 10+ minutes to get to the side and calm down.  I never felt the crush at IMMoo or IMAZ.

I seeded my self poorly, and got crushed at the start.  But heck, halfway to the first buoys I should have been clear - never felt like I was.  Don't show this to your wife.....but encourage her to prepare for the Maytag!!

Not sure yet, we're waiting to see what Vegas says if Manning thanked his team officially or not, he just talked about them, if not then my brothers fiancee wins, if so then someone my brother sent it to would win.

Maybe she could do the swim for me .  Maytag is what I am getting from everyone who has ever done CdA.  I swim best with a long stroke which doesn't do well in traffic.  I am going to have to work on that.  Thanks Linda and Kyla for the info... I am going to have more questions!!

Damn.   I was so busy being impressed with your wife's running, I spaced on the fact that it was you doing CdA.  Sorry!  FWIW, my hubby didn't think it was all that bad.  Accurate self-seeding is critical.

I DID work on getting  more power in the mid part of my stroke in AZ - and I think it helped!

Suzy: bummer on the food poisoning - not a good way to start a vacation.  Is there a restaurant I need to avoid?

Tony: thanks for the hockey commercial - that must have been quite an experience for those guys.

Nice racing, racing peeps!  Had xrays last Friday...My hand surgeon says still no riding (only the dreaded trainer) or weights since my ulner bone is STILL broken. WTF! After 5 months I find that ridiculous and unaccpetable.  But, at least I now know why everything still hurts....Smiles for you all! Tomorrow...I will try and swim!

Cheri--really sorry to hear that.  It did take me 6 months of being off running to completely heal a 4th met stress fracture a couple of years ago.  Be patient, it will come back.  Curious how the doc can tell that the bone isn't completely healed from an x-ray?  big white spot?

Dan--avoid the Shrimp Station in Kaapa.  It is their second restaurant and new this year.  There must have been on bad one in the bunch because Paul ate some of the same dish and was totally fine. I can tell you I will NEVER eat shrimp again.

Fatty-glad to hear your race was fun!

All-very jealous of your REV3 peeps getting together in a few months.  I will have to be content knowing I will see the other half in Florida in November.  Who's in again?  Fatty, Doug, Linda, me...any others?

I made the unfortunate decision to read it at home.  My daughter (6yo) walked by and asked: "Daddy, why is that man running naked on the beach?"  My response:  "What is that I hear?  Listen.  Do you hear it?  I think it is the sound of a tickle monster coming."

FWIW: Looks like my family is not coming to IMFL. Wife and son are ambivalent, but 13 year old daughter does not want to go. Both kids would have to be out of school and miss Halloween.

Hope to have this clarified by tonight. I have not sent in a deposit on a room at the Shores of Panama, so I can still find a smaller one if it is just me. (sigh)

And mine!  Now the angst is that 18 year old may not be healed enough to race Rev3,  which we get, but I am NOT comfortable leaving him home alone.  We have a bit of a party house, and no close neighbors.  ARGH.  Maybe steel mesh for the liquor cabinet, and a steel door for the wine cellar.

And apologies to young children's sensibilities.....but this really needs to be bumped to a new page.  He's my motivation.  It's raining outside, I've got a nasty cold, and I need to run.  I just need to decide if I'm chasing him, or if he's chasing me....or if I should just stay on the couch and watch The Bachelor.

Innocent  VOTES?

JEEZ!  Bump already!!!!

FWIW, I was not intending to censor what people put in this MG.  I am perfectly happy that people want to share these pics.  (And I am particularly fond of the repeated sharing of the pool picture -- there WAS a pool in that picture, wasn't there?)  I was simply amused by the juxtaposition of my experience with Jayne's comment that she was glad she did not check out the MG at work.
