For those of you new to our pod, every so often we have gotten our "jogo" on and challenged ourselves. It is a way of staying accountable to the group. I have needed the support every so often and now it seems to be a "thaaaang" that some of us look forward to. It is a 30 day challenge. Do you all want to wait till June 1 or do you want to start sooner? I will go with the majority. 1. Jogo-Whole 30 Thanks Jo, your timing is impeccable. I bailed on my run this morning. So, it seems that my challenge to myself will be either running OR if Judi posts something swim related, I may take her up on that. I need as much swim motivation as possible. I'll have to give it a little thought. I like June 1st so I can finish vaca and give my goal some thought |

Expert 4926 Middle River, Maryland | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors 2013: CLOSED (exc/ Pop Tart bribes) Originally posted by jobaxas Originally posted by TriAya Originally posted by KansasMom Originally posted by jobaxas Moore, OK is about four hours (220 miles) south of here. We had 6th grade promotion tonight at our grade school, and our district superintendent could barely get through the introduction because of the tragedy at the grade schools down there. We have a new grade school now, but in the old grade school, the basement routinely flooded. I thought of that when I heard that some of those kids drowned in the basement of their school. Just unthinkable. Where we are, we seem to be right on the line, and have been for the past couple days. When I picked the kids up from school, we had clear blue skies to the west, and immediately to the east, black and dark. We need to hold our babies tight. So heartbroken. My US geography is dumb basic - like hopeless. BUT fellow Manatees I hope you are all safe - that tornado was some powerful force. My heart goes out to people lost and left homeless, just devastating. In brighter news, I was walking at the beach on Sunday and saw a pod of dolphins along with a flock (right word?) of pelicans. Beautiful.. Crying here. GomesBolt (Matt Gomes) on BT is nearby as well and had posted the info on FB. Also thinking of your kids and their grandmother and her family. It's the thought that your kid is in trouble, in danger and you can't be with them. That's what you want. The teachers are heroes from what I'm reading. Thankful for those saved, heartbroken for those lost. Again, as usual. My wife and I were all but crying watching this on the news last evening. Terrible, terrible tragedy. Extra hugs for the kids tonight and lots of prayers for those suffering in OK. Edited by jmhpsu93 2013-05-21 7:54 AM |

I posted this in my log, but I should have said something here,l too. My ex-mother-in-law passed away last Tuesday morning after an extremely short (five weeks) "fight" with ovarian cancer. The funeral was this past Friday, so while my oldest son wasn't able to see her one more time before she died (he flew out last Thursday), he was able to be there for the funeral, so there is something comforting about that. Thank you all for praying for her and thinking about her and her family. {{hugs}} Please accept our condolences. I'm sorry that your eldest wasn't able to see her again but glad that he was at least able to see that side of his family at the funeral. |

REVISED JOGO MANATEE CHALLENGE!!!! PLEASE READ!! I am so sorry. It has been so long that I forgot that part of the challenge. So forget what I posted as picking a "thing" to be challenged. It doesn't matter if you swim, bike, run, walk, yoga, zumba, whatever...the challenge is 30 days of 30+ minutes of anything that is mindfully active. What do I mean by that? It means that walking to the mailbox, like you do every day, does not count. It has to be something that is off the couch (you can do something like yoga or walking even on a rest day) EVERY DAY!!! Who is in for the 30 days of 30+ minutes? Come one, come all!! There is no thought process. We will start as soon as I get a list together of who is in. You can do this on vacation, over holidays. Let's do this! It is only 30 minutes per day!! Who is in this with me and Jayne? |

Beautiful.. I had a hard time watching the coverage last night , but I'm listening to reports this morning. They're talking to more teachers and students. Seeing the destruction, I don't know how the casualties aren't higher so far. Good job schools! |

I have cuts and bruises that state otherwise ;-) Originally posted by rrrunner Great day doing a MTB trail with DH. Crashed a few times. What is everyone's experience with clips vs couples on a mtb. Right now I'm clipless (or maybe it's clueless) but wonder if I'd do better on platforms i.e. more confident, easier to put my foot down etc Tomorrow we are going zip lining over Moab. I definitely like being in a couple on a MTB, adds to the adventure. Oh, PEDALS?! I've always ridden MTB pedals and shoes on road bikes, so that may have something to do with it--actually I prefer clipless on MTB (more than I'd prefer clipless on a road bike, even!) because I feel like I have much better control with them. Way too easy to slip off platforms on uneven terrain. Seat's lower so unclipping/stopping isn't an issue. I MUCH prefer clipless for the MTB as well because of the bounce off potential. Amazing how freaky it is going back after clipping in so much. Be sure to set the tension to where you're comfortable getting out. No idea on the lower seat and stopping? |

I've only recently graduated to 'big girl' pedals on my MTB, used to use platforms with cages until I caved into peer pressure and the realization that it is a little silly to be afraid of clipless when I only use them on my other bikes. I set them much looser than my road and tri bike, of course and am still getting used to using them (read: gaining more confidence in) on the more gnarly stuff. Still a little chicken on the really rocky, rooty stuff but I really shouldn't be. It might be my lingering lack of courage due to the stitches I received a few years ago, but man was I fearless on the thing before that! Sorry, maybe I'm not really helping. Go ride, go have fun!! |

Well, indeed. Platforms or clipless, you're gonna get banged up a little on the MTB I shoulda said, seat's lower so unclipping/stopping (base level) is actually easier than on a roadie/TT, and is no more of an issue than when on platforms |

Fo sho, Eugene is a super PR course and it's also the reason they all selected it. And that's also the reason I don't think my name will last long on the list as Boston isn't even close to a fast course. I think once CIM, Chicago and Twin Cities hit, I will be long gone That's why I am enjoying it for 5 minutes. |
