Friendly reminder that one of BT's finest, Yanti, is racing IM Japan today (they're a day ahead).  Race will kick off in a few hours.  I'll have to double check on cutoff times as I could have sworn the old IM Japan had a 15 hour cutoff.  Not sure about this current one.

In any case, I'll be pulling for her.

I just "loaded" her up on my IronTrac app. It's going to be fun to watch her!

Clarification.  She's in the 6:22 am wave (last wave) and has until 11:22 pm Japan time (17 hours) to finish.  #1550

1:12 out of the water!  That's quite a bit faster than the last two!

Dang it, that really sucks.  I hope she is ok.  I am betting it is somehow related to the rain and cold on the bike.

He mentor group is reporting she crashed a few times on the bike and was pretty banged up when she rolled into t2. Did not start the run. But she was released from the hospital.

I feel so bad for her. I swear she's snake bitten at this distance.

Was hoping this was going to be her race to bag an IM.

Glad it wasn't worse than a concussion, but so bummed that it turned out this way for her...

. Concussions can be very serious....

Hopefully she'll get some good care over there...

She'll probably get better care there then at home...assuming she stops checking herself out of the hospital.  I guess her sister talked her into going back

I swear, she's had more bad weather in the IMs she signs up for than I get in a whole season of training in Seattle

Not minimizing a concussion at all, but to go down a number of times on descents, well - definitely could be worse, is all…

Glad that she went back in for observation, too.  Sounds like it has worked out, although it will be a bit before she's back on track, I suspect.

Yeah, I have made myself a new rule.  Never sign up for a race that she's doing.  I don't think that weather they had was the norm for that race

Hope she makes a full recovery soon.  She really is a basket case for bad weather and bad luck.

I had a good long ride today.  About 105...first ride longer than 80 on the tri bike and my bum was totally fine, but had to sit up a little more than usual to let my neck adapt.  Pretty sure it will be fine with a few more rides.  Power was good.

Will be running really early tomorrow then going to help out at a feed zone for the 112 mile around Oahu bike race.  Then swimming in the Waikiki Rough Water swim on Monday.

Hope everyone has a fun and safe long weekend.

The off-season is the best time to fine tune your skills and prepare yourself for the next season. It is also time for you to gain some strength and get a little rest after a long season of training.

If you develop a strategy for the off-season, you can go into the next season stronger than you ended the past season.
