Fred D - 2012-02-22 5:25 PM Great training everyone My achiles still sucks, so definitely a bit down. Trying to stay positive, but struggling because this stuff means a lot to me and is my stress relief. Send positive vibes.

Fred, positive thoughts and prayer for a speeded and permanent recovery.

6mile run this morning and a short (30min ish) swim tonight.

Can't believe the change in weather we've had! Only a couple of weeks ago I was saying how cold it was and this morning it was warm enough to go running in shorts and T-shirt!

Good morning team.  Last night continued the 'laziness' - we did get our new couch and pick up groceries and i made a lovely, healthy pot of soup. But no desire to run or bike after all that - mostly i enjoyed sitting on said new couch

I am planning to do a short run and bike tonight.  I did wake up at normal workout time so it means i got to work earlier and can go earlier.

Got my run done. Wanted somewhat of an easy run but made an error in my course. Turned out to be a very hilly run. Tryed to make it as easiest as possible, but just very hard to run easy up hills. I had some very very rare GI issues as well. Probable the under cooked brussels sprouts from last night. Still a very good run for me. I just hope my noon swim is easy, if not I'll deal with it.

You better get your butt in gear and train.

Welcome back Jen!  Hope you had a good vacation.  I am looking forward to mine here in April.

I rode 65 minutes this morning with some 10' increasing intervals on short rest.  Planning to swim this afternoon.

We are supposed to get 4-8 inches of snow tonight...that could make for a fun run tomorrow .

2 hour bike ride on tap for me.  No meetings scheduled today so as long as it stays that way and no fires pop up I should be good to go.  Nice weather has returned to Tucson so that makes me much happier.

I had a very frustrating run yesterday and I got pretty pissed during it all.  I have tired various methods of training.  Lots of volume, running every day, running 5 days a week, lots of intensity, very little intensity, etc etc.  I've held on to each method for long enough periods of time that I feel I should see at least minor improvements.  Never any.  I train cause I enjoy it and yesterday I ruined a perfect run day cause I got so down on myself cause after years of consistency in my training I never see any improvement.  A girl can get tired of being average after a while.  And I get tired of hearing you have to run x number of miles to see improvement.  Those statements are always made by people who can run those number of miles in a reasonable time frame.  Us slow people need something different.  I've trained for marathons, I've run those x number of miles and saw no improvements but I also have to give up a lot of biking and swimming to get that kind of volume.

Anyways, I guess at my age I should be happy I am not declining.  And I am still able to get out there and do it all.  And I know this low moment in my mental thinking will pass.  But for now I am pissed at it all.

I missed my run last night, so i had to bring the puppy to the vet for a checkup, when i got home i ran 4.5 it is weird, it is like 60 degrees and i was hot!!! And i do not remember the last time i ran during the day!!!  It was awesome!!!!

Tonight i have Local Hero on tap with trainerroad, and my wife leaves for Daytona tomorrow, so i will have to juggle Morgan, Dunkin and workin' out for the weekend.

Long ride on tap for Sunday though, as my wife gets home Late Saturday.

Yesterday I blew off my a.m. ride (doh), and figured I had to sacrifice it because I am getting a massage every other Wed. night now.  Unfortunately, got to her place and she was walking out, she had the time down wrong and thought I missed it.  BUMMER!   Not only a missed massage, but that meant I had to got to do my trainer session.  2 x 20 at 95% (last year's 95%),,,,,

Then this morning told myself "I can run after swim tonight..." then forced myself out of bed for a 6 miler.  When I was in the best shape, training for IMAZ, my best time on this particular hilly loop was 58:XX, usually in the 1:01-1:03 range.  THis morning ran a 57:XX.  Happy with that.  Pretty close to a sub 9 minute mile average for this route, would be a major breakthrough for me (and one mile was a 10:03....)  I try not to look at my garmin during the run, I don't want my runs to be about pace, but about consistency and effort.  But every now and then I'll see a split.  And it either pleases me or makes me mad

Swim tonight

so, when you are in a rush to get outside for your ride DO NOT initiate the software update to your Garmin.  Sigh.  I'm so lame.  I work in the IT industry, I know better...

Nice job on the improvement Chris.  I actually took pace/speed off my displays on purpose.  I show HR and time/distance but not much else, just for that reason.  I show HR cause I train by HR and I get carried away sometimes.

So, did anyone buy FLO?  I can't believe the reaction to these wheels.  I guess it's the price?  It's like the people outside the apple store for the iPad version X.0, or selling out a WTC race in 1 minute.....  I haven't really followed it so I don't know the owners' bona fides or whether it's just two guys selling wheels?

Fun to watch from the sidelines though

yup, for the 910xt.  They emailed me that the update was out there (probably cause I purchased from them).  Only been biking with it so far but no negative effects from the update yet

Super job on the improvements Chris!    That is a pretty significant improvement.

Flo wheels nope not buying it.  My Zipp 808’s are faster than I need.

I think it has to be the price.  I'd love to have aero wheels but I cannot justify the cost at all, and I think a lot are like me.  This brings them into reality for a lot of folks.  I think I might look at them further down the road.
