Global - 2010-02-19 10:24 AM 1stTimeTri - 2010-02-19 8:07 AM Global - 2010-02-19 9:55 AM The hockey game between Canada and the Swiss was a nail biter last night. We out shot them 45 to 20 but somehow ended up in a shootout that went too the 4th shot to determine the winner. The Swiss goalie was out of this world and had one hell of a night. Their defense all around was great. Crosby who scored the winner on his second chance in the shoot out had a great quote. Something like "I always dreamed of winning it for Canada in front of the country in a shootout. Only in my dreams I score on the first try". Anyways, I am still tense from watching it last night. Can't wait for the Canada and USA matchup. When is the match? They play 4:40pm pacific time on Sunday. It will be one of the best match ups in the round robin and the winner will take 1st place in group A. Okay, so it'll be 2:40 p.m. CST where I'm at, but I'll miss it due to my son's b-ball game. Arrrrrrrgh!! |

No love for the men's figure skating Gold medalist? Yeah, I didn't think so. I never even heard of the guy, but, that would be a good thing instead of getting shoved in the face with nothing but Vonn and Jacobellis constantly, I guess. The judges totally got it right! Lysacek deserved the gold over Plushenko.
I watched the men's figure skating and was really happy for Lysacek. Both his and Plushenko's programs were good, but Lysacek seemed so sincere and happy and Plushenko just seems arrogant. I personally thought Lysacek was better, so I was happy about the result. I like Johnny Weir too, especially his short program, but I thought he was kind of lacking excitement last night and thought Takahashi was better, even with the fall. |

Pro 4578 Vancouver, BC | Subject: RE: A 2010 Winter Olympics watching thread?? Day 7, I walked downtown around 9:30pm (after watching figure skating) and there was a game of street hockey going on on Granville street. A crowd had formed around the players marking off the playing area and there were lots of police around watching and even dropping the puck for the faceoff. The atmosphere is very fun, lighthearted and happy in general. There's police walking around everywhere, but mostly they are just stopping and posing for pictures with people. There was a lot of costumes out last night too. My favourite was two guys dressed as hockey players walking around on stilts with giant hockey sticks! |
