PennState - 2009-10-31 3:47 PM Also, I'm trying to debate a training weekend at LP myself. I may be able to make Jorge's weekend, but if not, does anyone else have interest in going up for a few bike loops, run loops and OWS?

Doesn't look like I'll be free for Jorge's weekend either but I'm definitely going to be up doing a training weekend (or two) so I'd be interested in joining others. When we get closer let me know which weekend you're thinking about.
I plan on doing a few training weekends in LP. Do we have confirmed dates for "Jorge's weekend"?

PennState - 2009-11-01 6:21 AM Maybe some of the re-paving is federal stimulus dollars?

Either way, the LP roads were way over due for it, so good news IMHO

They were redone in the time between when we were up there for Jorge's camp & the race.   It was the Keene descent & parts of the out & back.

Fred...I'd love to get up there for a weekend or two.  I'm thinking about maybe Memorial Day weekend b/c of the extra day.

Jorge has mentioned June 17-20.  Don't know if that's set in stone though.

How early is too early to go up there for a ride as far as weather is concerned? Is early May fine?

Lake Placid weather is a crap shoot.  I'm serious.  It could be gorgeous in May or it could be freezing.  It could be warm, it could be pouring, it could be snowing.  Plan to go but watch the weather closer to the time if you're flexible on your weekends.

It most likely will be that weekend which is after Eagleman hence it might be tough for some but it is the best weekend IMO to do a huge overload weekend 5 weeks out of LP. I am also planning to get up there sometime in May but we shall see.

For my tune-up Race, I am doing the Endurasport Harriman HIM on May 15th.  AKA: the Harryman!  It's a nasty, challenging course that I feel should prepare me nicely for LP.

I have no idea how I missed this thread, but I was in before all of you.  I deferred my CF slot after I crashed in April and was unable to do this year's race.

The bad news is I'm still picking a piece of gravel or sand out of my hip or leg (which was cleaned at the ER) about once very 2 weeks... the good news is I've been running a lot over the past few months.  Even better news is that I finally, a couple weeks ago, replaced my totalled P2C with P2SL.  I'm pretty sure I was one of the few 2010 atheletes that did not have ANY bike as of October 2009.

My sit-bones are re-adjusting to riding in general, so I can't think about the speedo now.

I also just got fleeced on a townhome a few blocks from transition (can you say 4br townhome for over 4Gs), but between sharing with my Uncle (also doing the race, just won his AG at chicago) and our 12 combined jock-straps... the costs should get more reasonable.

I'm planning to pass a lot of you on the run... I'll memorize your butts while you ride away on the bike.

I'm also leaning towards Harriman as my tuneup, now that Black Bear does not offer the half (which I was REALLY disappointed to discover).

If you pass me on the run, it will only be because I'm already a lap ahead of you.

This a pretty sharp group you're making that claim against!

Focus on getting to the starting line healthy & injury free, something that is far harder to do than it sounds.

I'm planning on averaging 7:00 miles on the first loop and then dropping a few 6:30 miles around the start of the 2nd loop and see how long I can hold that pace, so best of luck trying to pass me.    I kid, I kid

Wanted to be clear I was not throwing down or anything like that.  'Twas said in the same spirit as the "fastest bike split" for beer stuff.  And I did say "a lot of you" to hedge my bets.  It was more a statement that you will all swim and bike faster than me.

Oh but WTF - I do plan to pass a lot of you on the run.  I will remind you of this thread when I do

... or you can remind me when you greet me at the finish line

Glad you can make it this year.

When did you rent the townhome for? We have a house for the week, but it starts on Saturday. If anyone wants to put the two of us (me+ yeats) up for Thur-Fri night, we would be happy to help defray costs, and we promise to stay out of your way!!!

Looks like we are going to have a RACE in 2010.  I hope everyone makes it to the starting line and better yet to the finish.

I think the first one to KQ wins.   Laughing   What a good near beer?
