Lawyer, in an insurance defense oriented firm. My practice revolves mainly around litigation, which means I get to go to court and put on trials from time to time. Although we lawyers can't claim to specialize in any area in Utah, my "focus" is in construction defect litigation and I also do some intellectual property (patent, trademark, copyright) litigation.
The main drawback to my career choice is that it takes time away from my training, which apart from coming home and seeing my family, is the highlight of my days.

So here's my favorite lawyer joke:

An elderly, very wealthy woman is dying and calls her doctor, accountant and lawyer to her bedside. She proclaims that she has found a way to take her wealth with her when she dies. She has liquidated all of her assets and has had all the cash proceeds placed in three suitcases. Her dying wish is to have the doctor, accountant, and lawyer toss the suitcases of cash in her grave at the funeral. The three professionals try and talk her out of the crazy plan but she cannot be forced to change her mind.
Soon afterwards, the woman dies and the doctor, lawyer and accountant attend the funeral. Obediently, the three men toss three suitcases into the grave after the coffin goes in. After the funeral, at the wake, the doctor seeks out the accountant and the lawyer.
"I feel horrible," he confesses. "I just couldn't bring myself to waste all that money. So, I took a third of it out and donated it to a cancer research center." The other two men gasp in shock.
After a couple of uncomfortable minutes, the accountant says: "Guys, I just have to get this off of my chest. I took half the money and gave it to a battered womens' shelter."
The lawyer looks the other two men in the eye, and declares, "I cannot believe you two. I ought to report you to the authorities. You knew you had fiduciary duties to your client and patient and you betrayed that woman's trust and dying request. Me, I wrote out a check for the entire amount and threw it in."

I love my family for a living..........that's what I live for.

To pay for all that "love", I design and launch automotive suspension components (Ford, GM, DCX).

I am a Mechanical Engineer currently stuck in an Account Executive's (Sales) body.

I'm in graduate school andT A two math classes as well as work in the math lab 3 days a week. That money covers tution and that's about it, so I also grade papers for two more classes, tutor about 15 kids weekly and do janitorial work at an office park on the weekends.

It certainly keeps me busy.

I am in the Learning and Development Department of the NATION'S LARGEST AUTO INSURER. I facilitate classes, do dedicated training sessions, administer the Leadership 360 performance assessments, and provide goal oriented Leadership Coaching. I love it. Absolutely love it.

This is my reward for handling auto insurance claims. I'm tough. Everyone **I** spoke to was angry. For 13 years. Tongue out

I am a graduate student. I am in my last semester of my Master's in BIoinformatics and enrolled in a PhD in Integrated Life Sciences (concentration in Bioinformatics). My master's project is writing database software to store and do statistical analysis of DNA microarray data. For my PhD project, I will be working on rotein mass spec data to characterize an intracellular immune system response. I also TA one class each semester so that they pay my tuition and give me some money to live on.

Basically, what this means is that I am super busy. I try to fit in training as much as I can, but it's been really hectic this semester. This is my last semester of classes (hopefully), so I should have more time in the future. Until I get to written and oral exams, I guess...

I work for the Mainstream Media...Or MSM as internet bloggers like to call it. Say it with a hiss like some other evil aconym like the CIA. We're trying take over the world with our totally bleeding heart liberal bias, influencing thought and politics with no remorse while being careful to never, ever report any good news...but the managers can barely figure out who's working the weekends.

I'm a recovering journalist enjoying my 8-5 job as a public relations coordinator at UGA's college of ag. I love having weekends free. After three years of working every other Saturday and working until about 9 p.m. or midnight, depending on the crisis (I was managing editor at a small daily), I can finally have a social life, which will probably end if I get into grad school in 2007 (photography, hopefully). My hubby and I don't have kids yet, which helps. I imagine it's going to get a lot more complicated when little ones come along.

I have been with the U. S. Coast Guard for over 26 and a half years now.  Only planned to stay for four, but had too much fun!  Currently in a policy job related to the Global Positioning System.  Rotating between Search & Rescue and Law Enforcement assignments and desk-driving staff jobs.  My last operational assignment was in Hawaii, where this whole triathlon obsession started.

By the way, that's me on the left.  The gal on the right was the Commanding Officer of the cutter this picture was taken on - the Coast Guard Cutter Kiska.  One of the finest Patrol Boat Captains I have had the pleasure to work with, and a superb leader.  She's in graduate school in Boston, MA now.

It has better hours. I was getting way too burnt out, although now I miss it. Especially the page design part. Ahh, creativity. (Yes, I can do everything in the newsroom - write, type obits, edit, photo, paginate, write sports, sell a wedding announcement). So, you work for an ag pub? Which one?

Yep. I work for DTN. Data Transmission Network. We have a newsroom here of about 50 people including editors, reporters, analysts, agronomists, meteorologists and radio producers. Our company employs about 700 -- weather and markets are the other half of our business, and of course support staff. You know it's funny. I used to the the ME at a group of small newspapers so I know how that is. I did everything from writing stories to taking pictures to pagination. Hell I once delivered some papers out of my car when one of our trucks broke down.

I'm the boss!!!!

My title says "Director of Administrative Services". I work for a Catholic church/school. In the corporate world my title equates to Controller, basically. I'm in charge of the financial aspects of the church, oversee the buildings and grounds, and handle the personnel/HR issues as well.

The office hours allow for plenty of early morning training and I also manage to sneak in lunchtime workouts.

My job is about the same as everyone else who isn't self-employed...keep the boss happy. My degree is Electrical Engineering, and SOMETIMES I get to think I am still an EE, but it seems I spend far more of my time doing other things.

Oh, and I work for a very large, very well known global company.

I'm a Sys Admin for our Local gubment. I basically take care of all our Solaris, Windows and Novell servers. Pretty boring really, but I rarely work out side of the normal 8-5. Get most of my training in during lunch, do some swimming at night and longer runs and rides on the weekends.

I'm a middle school principal and really, really need my job as it creates a high degree of stress, which is the compliment of my training. I get up very early to train during the week, and enjoy regular "breaks" (thanksgiving, christmas, winter, spring and summer) to train and race. The stress created melts away with the intense training, which allows me to face the middle school with renewed energy, spring in my step and continual "cool" that is needed, until the students arrive!!
