amd723 - 2013-05-06 8:52 PM I'm home sick today, so pod, please keep me entertained during my intermittent awake periods.

Oh dear. Warm healing {MELON PRESS}

Thanks. The good news is I'm missing an 8 hour seminar on public records and ethics!

I think that might make you sick anyway so you may as well be sick at home

Name:  Rus (yes, with just 1 s)

Story:  I've always loved biking, and always loved swimming.  Never did any of it competitively, though, and I thought it woudl be fun to do so.  I started some running and have run my first race ever early this spring.  Definetely hooked.  I "can" swim, I "can" bike, and I "can" run.  Why not put all three together?  After being "the fat kid" up till colelge graduation, I really have no athletic background, but find a certain satisfaction in being able to do this now.

Family Status: Married, 9 years;  1 six year old little boy

Current Training:  I WAS doing 6 days a week, MWF- running; Tue-Thu- Swimming 30 mins, stationary bike 30 mins; Sat or Sun- long run.  My biking has always been thr strong part, that's why I have put as much focus on it.  Unfortunatly, I busted up my knee about a month ago, and it's not fully recovered yet.  I tried a small run 2 weeks after the initial injury, but that was a horrible idea, and I hurt it even worse.  I'm now on day 15 since that re- injury, and it's getting better, but slowly.

2013 Races;  Complete my frist ever race of any kind St. Patricks Day weekend, a 5K (30:32).  Current 5K PR is 28:04.  I'm hoping to get back there ASAP, but to do it smartly considering my injury.  The frist sprint tri I'm aiming for is the weekend after the 4th of July.  It really depends on how quickly I can recover.  If that wont work, the next is in the beginning of August.  And another the 2nd weekend in September.

Body Composition:  I'm not really concerned with this, as long as I train like I want, it will take care of itself.

If you haven't figured it out, we talk a lot. :-)  Fasten your seatbelts!  Also, we tend to be an inspiring bunch (as in, we use the "inspire" feature of the site a lot).  If you are not familiar with inspires, note that you can reply to them by clicking Reply.  This pops out a new window for you to type your response so that the original poster can see it.  Finally, most of us use the training log on the site (I think that Yanti said that it's required).  This makes it a lot easier for us to help each other when training questions come up.

List master extraordinairre!!! Are you going to creat a table? Huh? Are you done yet? Are you???

I'm just goofin' off, I'll put one together tomorrow night.

I did.

We have a few folks that need to add avatars.  Dawn, Nichol, Renee, I'm looking at you!

And a few folks that need bios -- crews, what's your first name?  Honey~Badger, is Lynne your first name?

Chris, what other housekeeping do we need?

You mean like bike pics????

Bike pics, table copying, planned races, etc. ;-)

Sorry about the knee. Aquajogging is a very effective alternative, but it's not always appropriate depending on the specific type of injury.

NAME: bcraht

STORY: 41 years old, veterinary technician.  Tomboy and 'sporty' my whole life.  My mom dressed me in frilly clothes and pigtails as a little girl, had me in every dance type known to man.  I rebelled Tongue out.  Played soccer, basketball, track (well, more field really, I threw the javelin and shot put), volleyball, baseball.  After high school, only continued with soccer until I blew my knee in my early 30's.  Then took up hockey!  Had always wanted to run a marathon, but 'I have bad knees/ankles/etc.'  Watched the still-overweight contestants of the Biggest Loser complete a marathon and figured I could too, so started running in 2009 and completed mary in 2010.  Few HM after that before finally looking into triathlon.  Last year was my first year, did a few sprints, an Oly and a HIM.

FAMILY STATUS: Happily partnered for 6 years, adult (eek!  how did that happen?) step-son from a previous relationship.

CURRENT TRAINING: Well, I have the HIM training plan on my calendar.  But really, I swim with a masters group, I am just rebuilding my run after an injury, and I don't always follow the planned bike training...  I am averaging around 7 hours per week in the past month.

THIS YEAR'S RACES: North Shore sprint in May, Victoria Oly in June, Vancouver HIM in July, Crescent Beach Oly in Aug, and then a sprint or Oly in Sept.  or maybe both.  I can be flexible Laughing

BODY COMPOSITION: Meh.  I always say I would like to lose a few more pounds.  But I don't tend to work too hard at that during the season, cause my body gets back at me with extra soreness.  I guess my goal for this year is core strength.  Must. Remember. Planks.

Look forward to getting to know all the new Manatees!

It were the trainer for 30 minutes this morning followed by 20 minutes on the tread mill.   Made 2.5 miles.

Ten pounds less feels like a million bucks  whilst running.

Inspiration, and congrats!!
