I did my Tues AM run this morning, but somehow forgot to bring my legs along. I felt disembodied from the waist down.

I'm planning on just getting off the bike, refilling my water/nutrition then getting back on and getting my a$$ handed to me again.

^^^^^This. I do my workouts around 5 am each morning so I'm not sure how the hell I'm going to drag myself to work after the Angels/Hunted double shot. In the words of Clubber Lang my prediction for Friday - PAIN!!!

That first long interval in HHNF breaks me down. I actually came back pretty strong for the 2nd one but came to pieces on the 3:30 TTT at the end. Overall, better than yesterday. Those shorter hard efforts (like Revolver) are my biggest weakness and I had dead legs yesterday.

Looks like I have to be in town (Boston) at 7 tonight for a meeting, should be home by 9 or 10, so my ride will be a bit later than normal. At least it gives me a few more hours to recover... I guess.

I finished HHNF this morning.  That was my first with that video, and it seems like it would be a great workout when I'm not fatigued and grasping to finish.

Maaaaan the end of this week is going to be brutal.

F/S/S this weekend are set up to be a series of repeated gut punches. Angels/Hunted b2b is bad enough, but to follow up with Blender, and Sundays finish with *64* sprints is insane. Why am U doing this again? Oh, that's right, this is fun ????

HHNF was going well until the second half of the second 20-minute interval. Then I fell apart for a bit. I was able to recover and hit the TTT strongly, so I still met the power targets, but man I was hating the last 10 minutes of that second interval!! I was feeling (relatively) strong up until then and then it was like the rug got pulled out from underneath me.

HHNF is a good workout, and I'm a big-time Sufferfest fan, but on this particular one the music is not at all to my taste (same goes for Extra Shot). Different tastes for different folks I guess....I like the soundtracks in most of the other videos.

I'm just the opposite I can do the hard intervals with some rest between but the long sustained efforts like Long Scream where it's a time trial are my weakness. I really need to work on that this year. My legs are sore after Revolver last night but not jello like after a long sustained effort.

This is from Alex Kizis,TrainerRoad:

Do I need to do the double workouts in a specific order?
Nope. You're welcome to do the workouts in whatever order you'd like.

I don't have the link, but I recall that the Sufferfest folks said on a FAQ about the ToS that you had to do them back-to-back. Since they're the organizers, I'm going with that. Even without them saying so, I cannot imagine those guys being OK w/ breaking things up to make it easier/more convenient. Not really their style, IMHO.

Just wake up at 4am, that's what I'm doing!

This was my answer when I asked about FaceBook saying otherwise. Just an FYI:

Hi Jay,

Sorry for the confusion.

The Sufferfest wants riders to do the rides in order and back to back, but we already stated that you can take a break between the rides and do them in either order. We don't want to go back on our original rules, so we're sticking with what we've already said.

The rides will count towards the TrainerRoad ToS badge and Prize Pool regardless of order and a break between them. As long as everyone gets both workouts completed within the specified time frame, they'll be good!

Yep, as much as I hate to agree, 1 stage, 1 day, 1 event. I am sure I will regret that come Friday evening.

finished stage 4, and I am really not sure how to describe the effort that it took! My HR monitor threw in the towel and stopped working at some point, which gave me concern that my heart was stopping, but my legs kept going so I took that as a good sign! On to the next stage, anyone know when the rest stage is?

Knocked Stage 5 out of the park tonight at 100%. Apart from rubber glove this was my best stage, hit targets almost all the way till the end of the wretched. I actually can't believe it seen as though my FTP has increased 7% or so.

I warmed up with Clyde 1st, liberally applied some chamois cream and attacked my way to an IF of 0.96 in extra shot. After a quick break < 5 mins I tackled The Wretched (my 1st time), couldn't pay much attention to the story as I was too busy suffering, but I liked the workout and managed an IF of 0.92 and a new 30 min power record. PRETTY GOOD.

TAKE THAT PELOTON.

Stage 5 complete.

Did a 5 min warmup then went straight into Extra shot. Probably took about a one minute break between videos, just enough time to ensure that it uploaded to trainerroad.com then started Wretched. Total workout time, including pauses to change videos was about 1:17 according to my Garmin.

No excuses but I just didn't have it tonight. I felt pretty good going into the stage, Extra-shot was right on target but lost it during Wretched. Still ended up close to goal TSS but couldn't produce the power I wanted.

Extrashot was certainly a good "warm up"! LOL. I took a break just long enough to refill with water for Wretched but still ran out with 10+ minutes left. 4 more days to go so it should be smooooooth sailing from here..... RIGHT???

I started a day ahead of my local time as I'm working nights this week (15 hour shifts) and may or may not sleep on a given night. Last night was rough, only slept 2 hours, so didn't get Stage 5 in today.

As punishment (assuming of course that I get some rest tonight), I'm considering tacking on Stage 6 tomorrow after I finish The Wretched. Extra suffering is always good, but I fear what that may do for Stage 7 the following day.... has anyone been doing two stages a day then taking a day off?

stage 4 done. I actually thought for a bit during the first 20 minute interval that it wasn't so bad. I had no such thoughts during the last 20 minute interval, nor during the TT at the end. My only thought was "why? Why do we do such things to ourselves?". Then my mind wandered to wondering if other crazy people do this, if I am mentally defective, or have some sort of personality defect which finds enjoyment in this great suffering.

Tomorrows stage 5 coincides with my birthday, and yes, I intend to spend some time of my special day beating myself into the ground on my bike.

Worked from 7am to 9:30pm today, hauling around a ladder doing surveys for work (Mechanical Engineer). As I left Boston I said if I'm home by 10 then I'll do the rides tonight as I really didn't want to double (Triple with Shot, Wretched AND Dark tomorrow?). My wife was still up, kid passed out hours ago. I said hi to her, went upstairs to change, came down in my bike clothes and she just looked at me and said "You're f^&king crazy" and then she went to bed. Hour and a half later, it's done. I took about 3 minutes between workouts to grab a bottle of water and take stock of my life. Once that got too depressing to think about, I hopped back on and went at it. Wretched was bad. I lost it towards the end. I'm allowing it though because I even surprised myself that I got that ride in.

Got the Extra Shot / Wretched done this morning. I felt really, really good until the second half of Wretched - then it was just hang on to the finish. I did manage to hit all of the intervals except the final sprint. I also noticed that I will have my second-highest mileage total ever his month - pretty good, considering all the rides were indoors, and my previous best was in the warm months and included a century ride...

Stage 5 in the books. Hit ES with no warmup but lowered the target FTP to 96% and managed a .95 IF. Went straight to the Wretched at 100% FTP and managed a .94 IF. Really enjoyed the Wretched vid - loved the anatagonistic commentary and the TdF footage was awesome. Seeing Jens Voight huffing it at the end forced a verbal "Shut Up Legs" grunt from my weary body.

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
