Last update from the race before my battery dies...

As you probably know, Gina finished a few minutes after 4am today (Sunday), making her the youngest woman in the world to complete a triple iron distance tri. Tony just finished not too long ago in the double iron race with a finish time of 31 hours and change. Tom is about 11 miles from the end of his run with a projected finish time of 6PM. Gina's hobbling about, Tony is eating a well deserved meal and Tom is doing whatever we tell him to.

And Hollis, still has to go, so let's get an answer pronto folks

None of these athletes have ANYTHING to be a ashamed of. Just thinking about doing those races takes more than most people have.....Then to actually show up....complete it.....and to place... WOW... She is amazing. She covered distance that I don't like to do at one time, in my car! haha

Great job again, Gina....

GREAT job, everyone!  Frank, tell Hollis she has BT's collective permission to go...but she better make it FAST because she can't leave her post for long.

Okay - so this is what I can glean from the race results.

Gina finished 1st in the women's category, and 3rd overall.

She broke a couple of records along the way.

1. She beat the womens bike record by about 3 hours

2. She is the youngest woman to complete a triple Ironman

3. She beat the women's run record by about 12 minuutes

4. She set the triple Ironman womans overall time at 44hrs, 55minutes. That is 7 hours faster than the previous record.

That's fairly impressive.

In comparison, there were a few mens records set as well.

Both Beat and Sergio beat the previous mens triple record by 3 hours.

*Note: all times are unofficial.

She also was the fastest on the bike - 20:18:50 (Beat time was 20:43:00).

I am speechless... the longest I ever ran was 10k and my longest ride to date was 160km (swimming doesn't even counts). Gina, Tom and Tony you have my deepest admiration, job well done.

Anyone know what happened to Beat?? he was a few laps down and then came in second, seems kind of wierd like the timing screwed up or something.  Anyways, Sergio won by 10 minutes!! That is crazy that after that long of racing only 10 minutes seperated 1st and second.

Congrats to all who competed and volunteered for this amazing event. We followed the updates all weekend and are in awe of you all! You are truly amazing inspirations!

Special congrats to Gina - you are unbelievable girl!! I agree with above poster - I dread those distances in my car - can't imagine the physical nor mental effort required to complete this event! You are a fearless competitor!!

Hats off to Tom & Tony as well - You guys rock!! I had always thought the IM was the ultimate endurance test. You guys prove just what a body is capable of when properly prepared.

And to the those jockstrappin - If I ever meet any of ya - well, the beer is on me! Awesome job!

Yeah Gina you are awesome. If you want to marry me that would be great.

Tom and Tony. You did awesome also. Its asmash you have to live in the shadow of someone who just had the race of her life. If it was not the race of her life I have to ask. why is gina not a pro?
