Been up since 3AM.  I think it is time for a nap.

I FINALLY uploaded my final draft to the writers so my proposal is out of my hands and my mind until our next review, which gives me a nice mental break this weekend.  Still have a ton of work to do this weekend but it's easy stuff that doesn't require much of brain so I don't mind that too much.

Sunday is the start of my HIM training program.  Gulp.  My partner is doing all kinds of research to figure out how I can get back here to do my race (talk about supportive, I just have to train and show up really) so I think I am still on for my A race.  By the way, you can fly Southwest with your bike for FREE.  Conditions apply of course, but conditions that are easily meet most times.  So, support Southwest when you can!!!

evondo - 2010-02-05 5:31 AM Happy Friday everyone! Thankfully only one more day of work before the weekend. Unfortunately I'll probably be working some on Sunday but I can't complain too much. Anyone have any fun super bowl plans? Getting in all the training this weekend too right?

Happy Friday Everyone! Hope everyone's having better weather than here in Clemson... Rain and 37 degrees for the second day in a row now and apparently it's not going to stop for a while.

Nicole... You've had quite a rough week! Hope your ankle heals quickly and I would definitely invest in some bubble wrap!

Super Bowl Party at my own house = 1 beer for every FG + 10 pushups / 1 beer + 20 Pushups for every touchdown.  With these two teams it should equal a serious buzz plus a solid workout.

Saturday run after Keri returns from her Bike ride / Sunday 55 mile bike with Justine on the South Side - meet us at Justine's house at 7AM.

I am looking for some breathing drills for the swim, I am breathing on every stroke now and would like to get more time facedown without drowning and being totally gassed after a couple of laps. Any drills anyone can reccomend or video I can get pointed to? Thanks

We're not doing anything for the Super Bowl but I'm planning on getting a ride in on Sunday and a run on Saturday. I'm easing back into the training thing and the bronchitis is improving slowly.

Side kicking w/fins. Will let you keep your head in the water as long as you wish without having to worry about your arm pull. Once used to that start breathing every 2 strokes and eventually try every 3. If you're getting out of breath that quickly chances are you're just not comfortable in the water and not relaxed with your stroke. Slow everything down and it'll become more relaxing, faster and you won't need to breath as much

I have another recipe to share.  Another favorite snack is Larabars.  I {heart} them!!  Not wallet does not.  They are super tasty, and as far as bars go they are one of the better ones out there, IMHO.  Anyway, I've been wanting to make my own for quite some time and finally got around to it last night.  Huge success!  They fast & easy to make, slightly messy and totally delicious!  Recipe can be found here - http://enlightenedcooking.blogspot.com/2008/02/home-made-lara-bars-energy-bars-part-3.html.

Thanks for all the well wishes for my race tomorrow.  It is currently snowing w/ more to come.  I think that gives me an advantage over the 'treadmill weenies'!!  Bring on the snow.  I'll try not to let you guys down tomorrow =)

I don't think I could deal with that. We've had so much rain this school year. It's weird to think just last year everyone was worried about the lake drying out... that's not even close to being a concern anymore.

I can spare a couple bucks for a sumo suit or bubble wrap for Nicole...just let me know where to send the contribution. Heal fast...how miserable!

Busy weekend on tap here. Tomorrow we'll kick off the day with a 70' ride and follow it up with 1500 in the pool. The newbie I am training is married to a cycling fanatic. Today he drove to the town where we swim (about 45 minutes away) and he mapped out a bike course for us that we will ride in the morning before our swim. I thought that was pretty awesome of him to do.

Sunday is going to be intense. 70' hilly run, a 45' spin and another 1500 in the pool. I thought it would be a fun idea to host a Super Bowl party, but after looking at the plan, I'm almost certain I'll be in bed by halftime...which is fine with me.

Hope everyone has a great one...stay warm & dry...especially those of you in the northeast. Yikes!

Hey all...had my last 5K race this morning.  Short story is that I finished in 19:40 - 1st in 30-39 AG, 4th overall.  This is a brutally hilly 5K route, so I am stoked to have broken 20min today.  Lots of boring details in my TL.  Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well and having a great weekend. It has been a while since I posted here- usually hit the inspires- it is one or the other if not it is a lot of time...

As far as goals for January, I would like to maintain and increase my run mileage which means I have to get out there and do it and not be a weenie about it.
I was able to get a short easy run with my wife and eldest son before the snow started to come down.

So far we have had well over two feet of snow and it looks like there is another 4 inches before is all said and done. Maybe I'll get a chance for a bike ride tonight if the roads are clear- what do you think?

Wow, we nearly shut down around here w/ 6 inches of snow.  Can't imagine what would happen with 2 feet!!  I enjoy running in the fresh snow, but I doubt it would be much fun w/ that much.  Good luck on getting out on the road!! Stay safe.
