I'm sure his half marathon this weekend will record itself as a huge full marathon PR for him

Now that I think of it.  I can contribute ONE explanation.  The same hike that my Garmin conked out, I was hiking through a canyon.  I lost satellite reception and when I reviewed the track, it was bouncing all over the place.  It added 25% more to my total distance.  The track had my on top of mountains and several steps later, in a valley, then back on top of the mountain.

Was his run on a course he always does?  Or was it new and in a "urban" canyon (between lots of buildings).  Window treatments that reflect microwaves can mess up the signal the GPS gets...

Pretty normal routes. We've run at a nearby park which is pretty open. We've run downtown, too, but I can easily see that one messing up a GPS signal. The weird part was that 5 miler that recorded as 10 miles had us at 7.5 miles out, and 2.5 miles back (correct distance).

The other option, he didn't have enough satellites at the beginning.  The distance precision could have been hundreds of feet and just bouncing around hundreds of feet per shot.  But you say the distance wasn't racking up really fast during the run?  I'm curious what the track looks like when imported into the computer.

That's very possible.

I'd love to see the data, too, but he hasn't uploaded it. Maybe someday.

Boring makes me happy right now.

I'm enjoying life being about emissions testing, registration renewals, renting u-hauls, and cleaning my old house... rather than crazy stalker sniper ex-boyfriends.

Speaking of renting u-hauls...  I was looking at the cost of renting one for our eventual and it's anywhere from $1200-$4000 bucks depending on which company you choose.  DAAAAAANG - that kinda sucks!

I hired movers to go from FL to AZ. It was about the same cost as U-haul + gas. Longer haul stuff isn't awesome with u-haul/budget.

Don't get me started on my mover's horror story.  I have told it too many times and trying to forget about it.  It included over charging, lying, scamming, damage, lost possessions, missing medications.

My only suggestion?  Only move what you absolutely love or want.  If you can get it somewhere else?  Get it there.

For example?  MOVEING a halogen lamp ($20 bucks at any target) probably cost me $15-$20 for the box, bubble wrap, tape, weight...  Plus it was dented when I got to the new place AND didn't fit with my new décor...

Unload EVERYTHING YOU CAN. Especially the heavy stuff if you are going with movers.

That sucks.

I packed everything by myself, and I don't have nice things, so this eased the stresses of hiring movers.

Yep I remember quoting that stuff when I thought I was going to move up your way... and I even had an SUV with a hitch so was only looking at pulling a trailer. Still crazy pricey! Enough that I was seriously considering Kido's advice and selling everything but my bed (my Sleep Number $$$), bike, computer, and clothes. I had grand plans to Craigslist couches, chairs, computer desk, etc. or hit up IKEA. Not always worth moving old/worn out possessions, IMO!

I just ordered new ski vests. Every few years I get a small, medium, and large of men's and women's. This time I ordered an extra large vest too. Sad but true, some of the Geezerette's friends are in their mid-thirties and need a bigger vest.TW

Yep, the 10k I ended up spending/getting scammed by the movers could have bought a decent amount of new stuff.  I ended upgrading most of it anyway.

Granted, I made some stupid choices too.  For example, having them move my cheap dumbbell set.  They charged by weight, so moving 180lb of lead cost more than getting them new on the other end.  I packed a lawn mower and lawn fertilizer dispenser.  I didn't realize we don't HAVE lawns much here.  Garden hoses and all kinds of crap.

Get it all on the other side if you need it.  Maybe easy to say if you have money, but seriously.  I would rather go into a little credit card debt getting new stuff but it's NEW and enjoy it - new how, new "life", new "start" and all.  Than pay 10k to bring the same old crap along.  Great chance to purge and repurchase what you NEED.

Doing this now. Boxes are labeled and the ones with X on it are the ones I can leave behind if space is at a premium for my next move. It'll make storage so easy.

Also, a few mimosas while packing made it a lot easier to just part with some things

I'm coming out on top already. I threw out a lot of bathing suits (I am to bikinis like most women are to shoes) and I promised to reward myself by spending some money on one really nice once. Oiselle started a bikini pre-order yesterday. Ordered one guilt-free.

I hope you took pictures of yourself in the old bikinis.  You can mail me the files for safe keeping.  You don't need to thank me.  It will be no trouble at all.

Lucky you.  Even on the day I retired, I had to work late to finish jobs people needed for me to do before I left.  It was that way for every vacation and every holiday too.

Have fun, soldier.  I think you will be glad to be  totally out of reach from you stalker.

Envious.

Although, craptastic weather here today, so I don't think I'm missing much.
