I am running a super special 5K on Saturday with my favorite 9-year-old... my daughter, Shea. We are running the Girls On the Run 5K in Seattle. Awesome and amazing program. Every girl has a running buddy, and Shea wanted me to be hers. She has been running like gangbusters the last couple of weeks (she finally listened to me and stopped doing her 6:30 pace for 30 seconds and then dying for the rest of the way, ha!) and her coaches/teachers have told me she is really learning how to pace. Awesome.

Sadly... on Sunday she stubbed one of her toes really, really badly and as of last night was still very gimpy on it. I am super sad for her and hope she can run like she is capable. But in true Shea fashion, with her super optimistic and sunny disposition, she said, "It's OK, Mom. We can walk the whole thing slowly if we need to." She's right!! All along I've been worried my hamstring might hold us back (she knew she might need to walk with me!), and now that I'm feeling more put together... well... it is what it is. She is beautiful and happy and strong and I'm so excited to share this with her!!

AWESOME!!!!  pics!!!!!   and i hope she crushes YOU.  :-)

i know its a BIG deal when steve and ryan get me on a conference call.  its funny, good funny,  to hear your voices after all this time. thanks!!!!

so, we're hear.  well i'm here.  jarrett and the kiddos fly in tomorrow.  my punishment for screwing up the flights was a small plane, bumpy ride (i hate flying)  and a 15 month old next to me.  but the mom was a hottie so its all good.

on a serious note,  the young lady sitting across from me was carrying a folded American flag.  one look in her eyes and i knew what was up.  about 45 minutes into the flight she stands up to go to the bathroom.  she was looking around wondering what to do with the flag, clearly didn't want to bring it into the bathroom.  i introduced myself and told her i'd be honored to hold it while she went on her way.  She said thanks very much and handed it to me.

her husband was killed two weeks ago in a fire fight over in the afgan theater.  they buried him yesterday.  one young son.  if ya'll are the praying type,  please keep them in your prayers over the next few days, weeks , whatever.   thanks.

ironman... the race where you go to packet pickup to pick up a bag of bags you'll need to put all you're gear in.  6 different bags.  really?  ha!

awesome vibe all around.  my hotel room , THANKS KELLY!!!, overlooks ironamn village.  nice!

some pics...

signing my life away...

cougar trying to pick me up in the tent!  jealous slacks?

the volunteers are amazing!  getting banded here and told where all those numbers go.  you're only seeing half the sheet of numbers there.

getting my bag of bags.

You're looking very fit in the photo's and your training sounds solid, have a great race!!!Cool

It's the Noosa Winter Festival this weekend, I'm doing the 2km ocean swim Saturday and the Noosa Century Cycle 100km ride on Sunday - a lot for me but doesn't sound like much compared to John's IM race.

To the Davids: Have a great race!  Upload pics and of course those RR's as soon as you can.

Doug--ok you can wear your wetsuit.  You've been training your brains out like you're training for a HIM so I gotta believe this will be a stellar race for you!

For those intrested in the photos on Flickr you need to PM me your email address so I can add you to my contact list.  I don't find Flickr very user friendly...

With water at 50F, I bagged tonight's aquathon so the only event for me is the Tour de Cure 100K on Saturday.  Supposed to have big thunderstorms so I guess I'll get my rain training done for the season.  Oh yeah!

Good LUCK again Fatty on your race and to the rest of the racers.

Thanks Suzy. My one worry is the run. I have only felt my "normal" while running the past two weeks. Still no where I want to be, but this isn't my A race and I am still working torward that. I am feeling good about the swim and bike. Hoping to just enjoy being back in the thick of a race!

P.S. Good luck David andd to that guy racing in Texas!
