Why you seein' a shrink (must be in TAN #something on page #something)? CAUSE I'M CRAZY, duh, i thought that was assumed about all the folks in here? in reality, for anxiety. I think everyone gets anxiety. However, when I do, it's obviously manageable, but at those moments I can see if it was much worse how terrible that must feel. If it's as debilitating as was portrayed on Ironman 3 (I know not a serious drama/reality) it must be scary. i know the day and hour it started. it was triggered by (emotional) trauma and i'm just ready for it to go away. That's interesting you know the moment. I know THIS may sound crazy, but there have been a few moments I can just feel "I'm about to crack". You sort of feel it happening and maybe it's far from really happening, but it almost seems tangible. it's PTSD, it's easy to know the moment.
yikes. NOT what i wanted to hear! |

There were some moments during my divorce I semi lost it. Like when I stabbed our wedding photo with a kitchen knife when she didn't come home one night AGAIN. Left it on the front porch for dramatic effect. I'm not sure if that was crazy or just being young. I had no real desire to hurt her, but the image felt dramatic enough, no? So much symbolism in a stabbed photo... Or just plumb crazy?
It's crazy. It's also understandable - you were hurt, you probably felt helpless/powerless, etc... Those feelings sometimes need to manifest themselves in some kind of an outlet.
Many moons ago, I was stabbed while breaking up a bar fight. For months after that, I just kinda hid in the house, didn't go out, avoided crowds, etc. It was probably 5-7 years before I got to the point where I was really, fully able to put it behind me. |

yikes. NOT what i wanted to hear! That statement is made more on knowledge of Vietnam vets, etc... treatment for that level of PTSD can go on forever.

Ditto. I've done precisely ONE actual non-race outdoor ride in the last 13 months since my crash. |

Ooooh! Jealous.
I'm racing the Cleveland Triathlon Oly on Sunday, and some goofy corporate challenge Tug-o-War on Saturday.

One of these days, I'm gonna jackpot the quahog raking and all of your chowder will belong to me! If fact; tomorrow may be that day because all of the beds tested OK this week. Nothing like enterotoxemia free shellfish! Edited by pitt83 2013-08-02 2:36 PM |

Will you be able to TAN in Italia? |

Well, a ridiculously busy racing season is getting busier :-)

wow, that sounds tasty.... I'm pretty envious! What sort of conditions do you need to create an oyster bed? What does it take to raise them?
I'm going to go take a nap. |

So you will be in Des Moines in a month? I will probably be working, but I am hoping to be able to shut the plant down for the weekend, so I can go watch and cheer on the racers. Next year I plan on being there racing. |

I'm going to go take a nap. Think about the Bay of Fundy on the northern shore of Nova Scotia. Great tides, somewhat shallow and not a lot of stormy big waves. Shellfish like lots of water changes, but calm conditions. Best oysters in the world. Where I go is behind a sandbar at the saline side of brackish water. The cove near me is also good, but very rocky, so it's a PIA to rake versus the mud and sand flats over a couple of miles. |
