I went to the dentist and the pain I was feeling was a rare-ish thing called root resorption. I think I take reasonable care of my teeth but there was nothing I could do. They say it has to do with trauma (which I don't recall) which results in some kind of PH imbalance and the tooth basically dissolves itself from the inside out due to some kind of chemical reaction. They will have to remove it - I'm sad. I can get an implant, but my plan was to KEEP all my teeth... The dentist was a little off-putting. He almost sounded excited to see a case of this but it's MY tooth. I also have to increase the times I get x-rays because there is no other way to tell if it's happening. He said that it happens to one tooth, you are predisposed to having it happen again. I need to do some research and see if I can do a diet change or something. Sucks, you take care of them and some weird imbalance happens... Did a 24 hr walk relay to raise funds for cancer on Saturday. Pretty cool. My last shift as at midnight, but walked till 1:15 am because I just wanted to. Was pretty tired and still feeling it a little. ALSO, actually two days in an HIM plan. Curious to see how long THAT lasts...
some people just have teeth issues - it sucks. my grandmother had full dentures in her 20s because the way her sinuses drained. you have already outlasted her! my mom has all kinds of teeth issues despite taking really good care of them. just the way it is for some folks. sorry you are dealing with it though - i would not be happy about having a tooth out and implanted either... |

Two partial plates here. I think I only have 11 of my own left, the rest are gone.... and I just turned 43. In my case, the teeth were 100% healthy as anything, but the bone in the jaw holding them in receded. Sometimes, things just happen and you don't have any control. Genetics (partly my case), bruxism (mostly my case), whatever... they can all destroy your teefs even if you take really good care of them.
It sucks, but you learn to live with it.

I hope so. This is upsetting enough, but what I'm MORE worried about, is this could be a start of a trend. Next thing you know, I'll be breaking my first bone *knock on wood*. I generally like to keep the body in tact... Minus that pesky thyroid a couple years ago... |

I have learned that if you can, bring what you want replace to the store. I wouldn't have thought there were several different sizes of hose bibs sold. I figured they were standard. But NO, go to the store and they have 1/2", 3/4", and 1" threaded and non threaded. I knew it was threaded and took my best shot. WRONG. back 10 minutes later with a return and repurchase of the right one. I'm pretty happy with my collection of tools now. I can handle most issues, but there is always the misc pieces you need that I take several trips for - almost every time.

It sucks, but you learn to live with it. Sorry to hear. Yeah, it could be worse. Just disappointing. Also, with today's technology (and the fact it's getting better), is something to take some comfort in. Not too long ago you had to go without the tooth or get bridge, which meant drilling into the nearby healthy teeth. This implant thing is pretty cool, all things considered. My brother has one, but he was just being lazy/careless... The difference between surgery and dental visits from when I was a kid to now is like the stone ages vs Star Trek. The biggest gains have been in anesthesia IMO. Before, it looked like a lead pipe they just stuck into your gums (35 years ago). Now they swab it to make it numb enough for a teeny tiny needle you barely feel.

I stopped and towed him back to his dock. He was having a bad day all around. He had just sold his house on the lake because his wife wanted to move to Florida. He didn't want to go. He was heading to the boat ramp on to load the boat on the trailer to leave and the boat died on the way to the boat ramp. He was a sad case. He called our house late last night. Janice answered. He was saying thanks in a slightly drunken way. Hope things work out for him.

Hurted my arms/elbows this week. I put up a couple of climbing ropes for my girlfriend and her daughters (she is really into the obstacle course racing, and the rope climb is her enemy, so she wanted to be able to practice). I then proceeded to be a showboat and climb without using my legs, and climb with one arm on each rope, etc.... and now the tendons in my elbows and shoulders won't stop screaming at me. It made for an incredibly painful and difficult swim this morning.
The good news is that we just got a trampoline delivered, so while my arms heal and rest up, I can damage my legs and back.

Elite 4344 | Subject: RE: TAN #203: TANese New Year - Horsing Around I seem to have lost all motivation to run or ride these days. The internet is telling me subliminally that I need to buy a Polar V800 to revive my moto. The internet is so much smarter than it used to be. It (she?) doesn't send me emails about size enhancement like it used to (Ms Internet should know I am HUGE, and I don't need an email insinuating otherwise.), instead she posts ads for things like the Polar V800 in the side bar of every page I visit. It is very subtle. I used to want a computer that knew what I meant instead of what I typed. I am not so sure anymore. Anyway, TAN should I cave and by the Polar thingy? Or should I get a tinfoil hat to protect my head from the insidious waves of brainwashing emanating from the computer screen?

Elite 3972 Reno | Subject: RE: TAN #203: TANese New Year - Horsing Around I sat in court all morning waiting for a sentencing of a former friend and coworker who embezzled a quarter of a million dollars from the company I still work for. Our insurance company would only go back 3 years with the investigation, so who knows how much in total. The first two years (7 total) she worked for us, she had been on parole from another embezzlement charge - I guess I know how she made restitution for that. She received a sentence of a maximum of 10 years, eligible to apply for parole in 16 months. I had really trusted this person - we all did. The last 14 months since this broke has been a lot like the grieving process for many of us - denial, anger, etc. She is a pathological liar. I finally accepted that fact today, and watched them cuff her. No one came to court with her except her lawyer - not her husband, not her sister or parents. She has a teenaged daughter and a son about 6. all of the other cases we got to watch today have left me quite worn out. Lots of emotion, sad stories, substance abuse, bad decisions. Sadly, several of them were veterans. One bit of humor - a guy was pulled over for a traffic violation and was told the car he was driving was stollen. He was driving his new younger girlfriend's car, he thought. Nope - she was wanted for auto theft and a host of other things. The judge asked him if he was going to stay with this woman, and he claimed "no way! I learned my lesson to think with this head (taping the side of his own head) and not the little head (pointing to his crotch)". |
