mr2tony - 2008-10-15 10:46 AM Tons of people in our office today. Colleagues from Vancouver, New York and Toronto. Funny -- one of the dudes from NYC is British. It's funny -- he and one of my friends here, also a Brit, are talking in `proper English' yet I can't understand an effin' word they're saying.

Tell 'em I'll translate for you.

So, I have been trying to decide...

I probably have 700-1000 bucks in change sitting in a pretzel barrel at home.  Been working on it for about 5 years, I'm thinking...

SO, I could take it to the bank and just get the cash - but I have to sit and wait, or leave it with them - or worse yet, they make me roll my own coins.

OR, since it's easier, I can take it to the grocery store and have them count it in one of the vending machines.  But if I get cash back, they charge 6%.  No thanks - not an option.  BUT, if you use the coins to by gift cards, it's free.  SO, I could use the change and get X-mas gift cards and never see it hit the wallet.

sheesh, I don't know.

If you use one of the Coinstar things at the grocery store, you can select cash and see how much they will charge you to get it.  At the end, you can switch to a gift card if you decide it's too much.

Roll it and deposit that shizzle. That's what I would do. But then again, I have no money, so it'd be worth the effort.

If my bank made me roll it I would be pi$$ed.  They have to count it in the machine anyway.  Take it to the bank.  I bet you have more there than you think you do.

go to the bank and sit and wait.....the anticipation would be lovely, so when they hand you the cash you can jump up and down and scare all the people who are whispering in there

Rolling doesn't sound fun (Coins that is...)

I guess I could grab a bottle of wine, sit on the floor, watch a movie and roll quarters...

I was thinking race wheels, to be honest.  Then it never comes out of the account and regular budget....

i'd take the barrel to the bank and bring a book. Well, in reality, i'd bring my knitting, but i'm guessing you'd prefer something to read.

I roll my change at least once a quarter, sometimes once of month.  It makes things a lot less painful that way.

Go to the dollar store and get one of those coin sorter things. Makes it go by quickly. When I was in high school, I did this with a HUGE bank of change that I'd had for years and years - it was shaped like a giant plastic Coke bottle and it was about 3 feet tall. I think it was a lot of pennies, but it added up to quite a bit. My mom and I rolled it all and took it to the bank in shoe boxes.

I know.  I took it in last month to a bank and that sheot was heavy.  Probably 40 lbs of coins.  They just looked an me and handed me a bunch of paper tubes.  I asked why they couldn't do it, and gave me the run-a-round about that there were lots of coins ahead of me to be counted and I would have to sit and wait for a long time.

I was pretty much said F-you, and walked out.

You know, I never really liked banks at all - with all the fees and rules on how I can get MY money in and out.  An unfortunate nessessity in many cases.

I SERIOUSLY thought about that.  It would be really cool to watch (I get fasinated by machines).  But 40 bucks for something I would use every 5 years?  nah...

Not really, better than paying the 6% at the store. I bet you'd use the thing at the store if it only took 3.999%

Oh, wait, That's $39.99!!! Well holy carp.
