Dineen--you are a BADa$$, but mainly because you were an awesome Badger hockey player.  The weather here today is NOTHING compared to what we will see.  I lust for the day I am ready to run outside again and get frozen eyelashes.Kiss

Thanks Suzy...but that is a stretch.  Badger hockey player...Yes.  Awesome Badger hockey player....No.  More like bench warmer, 4th line, 5 minutes a game if suited-up Badger hockey player!

What is everybody's attitude about missing workouts due to the holidays?  Does everybody just blow it off?  Or do you move your swim/bike/run's around your travel schedule and availability of a bike, pool?  I struggle with this every year!

i try to maintain as much of my schedule as possible realizing that its all probably not gonna happen, but i won't just blow them off.  finding time to get a workout in in a hectic schedule and actually doing it is just as rewarding today as it ever was.

with three kiddos and a full time job, it ain't just the holidays that workouts are getting moved around.  if i know i'll be facing schedule issues i do my best to fit the long runs and rides in first.  next i'll get my favorite workouts in, which would be the medium length runs.

family first, always.

I prioritize my workouts.  Since I have a 1/2 M & M coming up in 3 weeks (OMG what was I thinking), I make sure the runs are on top of the list.  I also move them around based on where I can be when.  For me, runs during daylight hours, bikes late evenings on the trainer and the pool butt crack of dawn.

Do the best you can, make quality not quantity and enjoy the holidays! :-)

Man on a Wire = good one! Will need to check out.

I don't plan to miss any workouts, but I'd sort-of like to be doing more than I will. I'll get all key workouts in, and I also get the luxury of only having to do one dark run, since I don't get to get runs done before getting the kids off to school. Tough trade-off, though... a couple more hours of sleep in exchange for crazy kids at home for two weeks. Got lots of stuff planned, though, so we'll keep everyone (read: MOM) happy!!

9 Ball Diaries is a good one.  It's an easy 45 mintues or so documentary on Tim Johnson's Cyclocross season a couple years ago.

Breaking away, always good on the trainer.

funny, the title pops up every time i log into my acct but i never read the review until yesterday.  its really good.  and fitting for the tri community as well.  people have to have the latest and greatest.

i started to watch the nat geo doc on the appalachian trail.  this guy is talking about ticks and how he keeps his head shaved so he can spot them.  he says, i don't know what all those triathlete guys are thinking with all there long hair and beards... hahahaha!

GRR, venting a bit.

Our 6 year old found a tiny crappy promotional pocket knife in the house this weekend, the kind with the plastic cover with the tiny knife, scissors and file in it.

I thought about it on the way to school this morning and asked him if he had brought it with him.  In front of me he put his hands in all his pockets and said nope, I didn't bring it with me.

When he was getting out I told him if he happend to "find" it in his pockets to leave it there as he was not allowed to have it at school.  He said ok.

Fast forward to about 20 minutes ago.  Sam got a call from the school that he was found using the scissors in class cutting paper.

Arlington like all other schools these days have a zero tolerance policy about things like that but since he was just using the scissors they aren't going to suspend him.  Sam is going by the school to see if she can get the principal or vice principal to have a "fear of god" chat with him.

I am so freaking angry right now, I have a few hours to plan out the long and painful punishment he has coming.  Been a rough week of back talk, arguing, not listening etc, he missed a visit to Santa last night that our daughter got to go to due to him being a PITA....

thanks for the vent.  We should have just stuck with cats and dogs, much easier to deal with.

I feel your pain.  Having the same types of problems with my 8 yo...especially on the arguing front.   Having lots of discussions about "choices" and "consequences".  He seems to get it, is good for a short while and then reverts back.  I figure we ony have about 10 more years of it with him!

Hang in there.

we've had a few issues here as well.  not listening, getting other peoples space, etc.  we think we've turned a corner and are finally settling in.   hang in there.  use some of that time to chill to, you've had rough go of it this week with being sick and no workouts and all this jazz. and remember the sh*t we used to do, ha!

Rats and mice are very smelly beasts. You have to continually be cleaning out their cages I would suggest gerbil or hamster or something of that ilk just for the smell factor.

Oh Yeah nice ride Trevor.

Some say triathletes are very smelly beasts too! Laughing

Hey Twin, whatever happened to all that mental training? a movie? COME ON!

dalessit - 2010-12-20 11:57 AM GRR, venting a bit.

Thanks, good to hear that we aren't the only ones going through this.  Very frustrating because when he isn't being a PITA he is a great kid.  I guess they all go through those stages.

On the upside I did win my fantasy football league super bowl this weekend.  300 bucks and the championship belt.

we've had a few issues here as well.  not listening, getting other peoples space, etc.  we think we've turned a corner and are finally settling in.   hang in there.  use some of that time to chill to, you've had rough go of it this week with being sick and no workouts and all this jazz. and remember the sh*t we used to do, ha!

Very true but when I got caught my parents whipped my a$$...
