I've had days this week where I've been down, had some drinks, and not gotten the quality workouts I needed too... but there's days/weeks like that. We all have them. Just dust yourself off and try again ps sleep is GOOD!! Thanks, just call me dusty.... Seriously that helps! |

I hit all 3 of my goals!!!!!!! 1) I finished the race 2) I didn't walk at all (even when the shoe came untied on the last .15 miles) 3) Did a sub 35 minutes race. (waiting for official race times but time was lower 34 minutes) I am extremely happy with the race and pretty much walking on cloud 9. Makes those days when I first started and couldn't even run .25 miles without walking completely worth it Will do a race report when official results are posted.
Way to go! |

There are several brands of elastic shoe laces that turn your running shoes into loafers. Slide on and off. No tying or untying. |

Expert 1007 Missouri | Subject: RE: McFuzz's Mentor Group 2011 - CLOSED Gmrgirl - great job on your first race! Congrats on meeting all three of your goals! I managed to meet one of my goals in my race this morning. New PR - 30:17 . It's not the sub-30 that I was hoping for, but I'm still very happy with my time. A little more speedwork and training and I'll get that sub-30 in May! Overall this was a great race for me. There were a few slick spots from the snow/ice yesterday, but the roads were basically clear. It was chilly but the sun came out so it didn't feel too bad. I managed to keep a good pace although I did slow down some after the first mile, which is normal for me. I think I'm going to get some lunch and then a short nap before basketball starts. Have you all are having a great weekend! |

Extreme Veteran 650 Sacramento, California | Subject: RE: McFuzz's Mentor Group 2011 - CLOSED Hi Everyone, Must be another weekend for PR's. I got a PR on my Half Marathon this morning. The rain clouds stayed away and God sent his blessings my way. 1:49:52 was my previous best from a race last August and today I finished in 1:46:03. I'll get a RR up when I get a chance and the offical results are posted. Enrique |

Elite 4583 | Subject: RE: McFuzz's Mentor Group 2011 - CLOSED Need some training advice! I will be running a half marathon on April 16th. Feel like I could PR, but won't cry if I don't. Here's my conundrum. As most of you know I am about half way through my first HIM training program. The week of the HM is my recovery week. Also, the longest run I'll have to that point would be 11 miles. Should I do some flip-flopping of training weeks? Should I increase my next couple of long runs and maybe decrease a bit of the bike, or does one have nothing to do with the other? What Would A McFuzzy do? |

What Would A McFuzzy do? 11 miles is long enough for a half-marathon, but if you wanted to do a bit more (and you recover well from half-marathon training runs) you can do a more than the plan. Just pay attention to fatigue in the week or two after the HM, especially for the running. You could cut back on the running and cycle for recovery. |

Expert 961 Illinois _ Chicago area | Subject: RE: McFuzz's Mentor Group 2011 - CLOSED Congrats to all who had great races'/workouts this past weekend! All your hard work is showing results. Keep it up! For me, the recovery is progressing. The leg is feeling better. Although I am a bit achy in the hip area, my initial complaint, the bad pain running down the inside of my thigh is gone. I'm getting PT twice a week, doing my exercises daily and today am going to a chiropractor I know from the club. I decided I can't go to my favorite chiro because he's just too far. This other guy is local. I've seen him for acupuncture and he is a certified tri coach. Thought I'd see what he has to say. I also just emailed the St. Louis Marathon to see if I can switch my registration to the half. I find as the date gets closer the more bummed I get that I'm not racing. Already know that they will not defer my registration to next year, so thought I'd see. (I know, I know....just let it go...it's only one race...be smart....) Why is this so hard for me? I'm a rational, intelligent person. I will be there to support my friends, but I know it's going to kill me not being able to run in it too. Figured, I have 3 hours to do the half. Last half I did was a 1:50, so I could do a run/walk in 3. Someone, please save me from myself. |
