The MANATEES are running this weekend! Go get 'em Valerie and Allen. I second Jo's sentiment, need pix!

To all other Manatees (except Yanti) have a great training weekend. Get out there and do something.

I did another OWS tonight--two in a row so far...tri club party tomorrow in the same location--and they're planning a swim as well...Try for three in a row?

Tonight's swim was special though...I met with the local swim meetup group--their swim goes from the shore of Beals Point all the way across to the beach on the other side of Beals....Which after measuring tonight, is about 1200 meters....I didn't make it to the other shore (those fast buggers had started their return to the beach--and I didn't want to be left all alone in boat and jet-ski infested waters!), but I did make it 1000 meters out to the far side--and then another 1000 back---so I got a 2000 meter workout tonight! It took me 55 minutes, which is kinda slow...more so considering that another swimmer had mostly lost her swim cap and was then doggy paddling on the return trip--I was unable to get more than 1 length or so in front of her the WHOLE way back....somewhat discouraging. In any case, I swam farther than I ever thought possible, I did not stop....and I kicked asthma's butt tonight. For that, I am happy. I now feel somewhat ready for the olympic swim portion....the bike and run...well, we'll see.

Good stuff, Kate!  Very nicely done!  And I hear ya about the fast buggers...every year when we go to Lake Placid I say I'm going to do one lap of the course but I get frustrated and discouraged when it takes the fast ones as long to do it 2x as it does me 1x.  So alas, I have yet to do one lap.  But I will make this year be the year no matter what!  And yes, you should totally go again and make it 3 OWS in a row, plus the tri club party!!!

Good luck Valerie and Allen!!  And yes, Allen, pictures of your race are mandatory!

Speaking of pictures, I have a little manatee challenge.  Surely we will be doing some sort of training this weekend, so let's each take a picture of where we run or bike (bike is what I was truly wanting, but maybe not everyone is biking this weekend) and post them to out thread.  I think it will be interesting to see where everyone trains!  Not training this weekend for one reason or another?  Post a pic that is 'typical' of your area.

I like it!  I wish the "GoPro" thread had taken off.  I love seeing video/pix of where others train.

Yanti, stay home and watch TdF.  You can just paste in pictures from your race last week!

Oooh, I love this challenge! I can take pics of my new TV console set up because I have the new sofa and the bike+trainer set up in front of it.

Also, I have so many crazy pics from previous runs ...

2000m is fantastic and I agree, you're definitely ready for the Oly swim!

So last night I signed up for the Pork & Brew 5K.  Turns out it's the 7th, not the 8th, which actually fits better into my training schedule. I can ride my bike there, do the 5K, then ride home.  I told my DH i'd signed up for the 5K and he said "that's not Oceanside". HA!

Now, that's a challenge I can get behind - just snap a picture! If I can figure out what type of battery my camera takes, I will post pics of my bike course and maybe run and swim too.

Weekend of June 30-July 1

Good luck this weekend, racers!

We are in San Antonio, and my internet is not reliable. (I brought my HP Tablet, and I can't get it to connect to the hotel computer.) I'm using my son's laptop at my father-in-law's house right now, and I had to beg for time.

I can tell training is going to be a little light while we are here. But the temperature is so much better -- a high of only 101 yesterday here, and low, low humidity. Hooray! The day before we left, we hit 111 at our place. Crazy. Just crazy.

GO VALERIE!

GO CRAZY FROGGY MONKEY MAN!!!

I love this idea!!!!! Hmmmm, so I will be going on a run with some of the Brooks Olympians/Olympic Hopefuls this weekend in Eugene. This certainly won't be a typical...

Whoosh!  Finally caught up (read the last few pages at lunch today).  Glad that everyone seems to be doing well.  I hope that everyone has a great weekend.

Better get back to work.  We have a new website rolling out over the weekend.  We have data to finish converting and I have to do training on it next Monday and Tuesday (and again the following Monday and Tuesday).  Things should calm down at work by midweek.

Training is going well.  My right hamstring is acting up a bit on long runs but I am dealing with it (PT, stretching, foam rolling, etc.).  Must get it better in the next four weeks!

I don't know if you guys have seen this or not, but it's pretty cool. A mix of some of my favorite things; some geeky scienc-y-technology, running and you know, my future wife Lolo Jones.

Red Bull actually does some really awesome stuff with their athletes.
