I got 12.4999 miles into ride. Pulling into my building's driveway, only had to pop my wheel up over the little lip of a curb....
and FAIL. Wheel did not make it up over (probably aided by the 50lb backpack I was wearing with clothes and laptop and stuff) and stuck, which had me pull my first header. Up over the handlebars I went. Feet stayed clipped in to the pedals. Incredibly embarrassing slow motion roll.... managed to keep my face pretty and not face plant. landed on my elbows and finally my knee. But all is good with me bike and self. I took my first header off the mountain bike on Friday. Someone told me it was a good idea to ride off a drop into a wash... luckily, wash = deep sand/small gravel. No injuries, aside from my ego. Although, my riding buddy seemed impressed with my attack, failure, and quick recovery. |

I almost passed out from the pain while doing squats last night. I need a new back! Are there any in the classifieds? Yanti, you must have a strong one to maintain those melon presses. |

Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: TAN#200: BicenTANial Bliss! Hey everyone... My boss did to me that thing I "hate". Called him last night to give a report about planning commission and he says something like "yeah, we have to talk. I had a conversation with -insert name- to talk about what happened and we have some issues. I can't talk now, so we can meet in the morning". I HATE that. Don't mention it unless you can elaborate. Spent half the night getting worked up and defending myself about something I wasn't even sure what I did. I was basically right, so it wasn't a complete waste of time thinking about it, but it also wasn't as serious either... |

Yanti, you must have a strong one to maintain those melon presses. It's pretty good . I feel you. I had two vertebrae with fractures and the disc between them blew out. Hor-ren-dous pain. Ever since then, and with a lot of recurring pain there (and elsewhere!) from the disease that ate my joints, I've had to be really diligent about extension exercises / strength training / yoga (my choice for both of the above and general health). When I haven't been, it's been bad. Know what's causing the pain? Doing any focused work to relieve it? Or is this a chronic struggle? |

It's evening, and it's effing CHRISTMAS here. For real. Biggest holiday of the year. Quiet at the house, most of our staff are gone, but it's really lovely. Nice post on ST. I finally got the bike-man bike rack in concrete, so I thought I would post it over there. Brian gave me a link to a Philadelphia thing. I don't know if I can redesign it to fit there specs. But, I will try to look at it in the next few weeks.

When I haven't been, it's been bad. Know what's causing the pain? Doing any focused work to relieve it? Or is this a chronic struggle? I'm not 100% sure what caused it. I suspect it was over extension of the back from my days of maxing out the leg press machine with intense, deep leg presses. At the bottom of the press my knees were way back nearly touching my shoulders. I recall having minor sciatic pain after some of those workouts but I was too young and dumb to realize that it would come back to haunt me when I was old. I'm seeing an Ortho for it now. We have tried corticosteroid packs but I go back on the 14th and I believe it will be time for an MRI to try something new. Maybe a shot or a career in knitting is in my future. |

Everything in slow-motion looks 10x cooler. That's why they always to the explosions in slow motion in Hollywood. You may not realize it but I'm certain that at least half of the witnesses are now trying to dream up how to replicate you moves. |

I don't think anyone could really replicate it, it was one of those where even while I was falling it seemed to take for-everrrrrrr to hit the ground. Hollywood should totally pay me to try and re-create it for some movie somewhere - no WAY they could CGI that sh*t! |

I'm actually laughing right now (only because I know you are ok). We have all done something like that. I was going to ask if it was slow motion. Only one crash for me happened fast. All were slow motion and plenty of time to think "oh, this could hurt". |
