Fun/interesting commentary in VeloNews this morning about an alternative to road rage.  I've thought about doing something similar but didn't want to freak people out.  As it is, I just make sure to smile and wave when I make eye contact.

Plenty of time to plan, and although I have no room at our house to put anyone up, I'd quite happily rent out a farm house/cottage that would accommodate 10-12 people for a fortnight. Just food for thought if any of you had desires to visit the Motherland Make a proper visit of it and go on to do the touristy thing - Stratford, London, Edingburgh etc. Just food for thought. I probably won't race Wales next year (depending on how I get on this year) but am willing to sherpa.

That would be so cook, too bad it's not a half!

Haha. If someone said any of that to me it would either go over my head because I am not up to date in the velo news, or I would assume they were being sarcastic. Or both.

Doing the Bo Bikes Bama this weekend.   It's not really a race.   It's a fund raiser.     Plan to enjoy myself.    Gotta go easy as I am nursing a sore Achilles tendon.   This is the left one.    Twenty years ago I ruptured my right Achilles.    Took two years to recover.     I'm going real easy....

Very smart to take it easy. Those who've ruptured one Achilles' tendon are at a significantly increased risk of a second rupture, so it's good you're being careful!

Just got back from an All Time Low concert with Kim and the kids/kids' friends. Yowza, are my ears ringing. Good thing this is a recovery week or my training would be scuppered!

Gather ye giggles while ye may.

Huge thanks to everyone who's checked in and sent love. It's been some very long dark days.

Still trying to sort with myself that killing people who kill people probably isn't the best solution to people being killed.

But it's tempting.

PSA:  Campmor 20% of bike clothing.

All those doing IM Copenhagen (Kirsten), you might want to consider the Copenhagen jersey (OK, so maybe a bit girly for you but the name is a winner!)

The emotional investment and the psychological reasoning behind some folks opinions on this sure make it a hot topic and one that is not to be taken lightly. I'm simply glad that you have people in your life that you can work through it with!

I'll echo Matt TX.  Sounds like you know what you need to do and are finding a way to enjoy yourself while playing it safe.  Have fun!

So is the cyclist all kitted up a woman looking at the woman in a dress thinking, "Where is her helmet?!" or is it a man about to hit a pothole because he's distracted by the babe on a bike?

Reminder:  We have a Strava group.  Let Chris or Janyne know and we can add you.  If you have a Garmin or use Training Peaks, you can set it up to automatically add your data to Strava.

It might be helpful to include the link!  https://www.strava.com/clubs/manatees

Ummm.  I think that the green is a tree and I think that that it's a cycling cap on his head.  You do make a good point, though, it's really a DISCUSSION PIECE, not tri gear.

I need a push to get going with some structured training so I need to get registered for a tri.  I can't decide between two races and can't do them both, so I need a bit of advice.  One is July 18 and is the same course as the first one I did last year, and the other is on July 26 up in the mountains.  They're roughly the same distances (750 m/12 mi./3 mi.).  The main differences are (a) the mountain one starts at about 2,000 ft. higher and (b) the mountain bike leg is about 2/3 climbing rollers and 1/3 descending rollers with a total elevation gain of 1,536 ft. vs. the relatively gentle rollers for the other race that were challenging but not killer last year.  I'm leaning toward the mountain one but am also a little intimidated.  What think you, Manatees?

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
