excess sugars?

sugars = simple carbs = calories = good in moderation.

Candy = empty calories = bad...

the candy crappy sugars!  I was getting too carried away...every morning dry mouth and after running my fingers were sausages

Since we mentioned it yesterday, and it makes me laugh.  Every sentence is pure gold...

"And St. Attila raised his hand grenade up on high saying "O Lord bless
this thy hand grenade that with it thou mayest blow thine enemies to
tiny bits, in thy mercy. "and the Lord did grin and people did feast
upon the lambs and sloths and carp and anchovies and orang-utans and
breakfast cereals and fruit bats and..."

"Skip a bit brother ..."

"... Er ... oh, yes ... and the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou
take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no
less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of
the counting shalt be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count
thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right
out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then
lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thou foe, who
being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

SOOO, what do you plan to eat at IMFL?  I'm sitll deciding if I'm going to eat anything at all or not.

I get enough from the drinks, but something solid like a harvest bar or some cookies may feel good, even if I don't need the energy.

jdwright56 - 2008-10-15 10:16 AM OK TAN - I want to do something special for my donor's family tomorrow (2nd anniversary of her death).  What should I do?  There are a couple of Grandparents and her Mom and an Aunt that she was really close to.

Just curious, but under what circumstances was the organ made available?  Car accident?

Vanesa was 16.  At about 7 Pm tonight will be the anniversary of the crash.  Her and her friend (Brittany) were on their way to their friend Alexandra's house where they all would be getting ready for the homecoming dance.  A pick-up truck pulled out in front of Brittany's car and they collided head on.  There was not a real mark on her body, except a bruise on her jaw, but her brain stem was detached.  They discontinued life support around 6 PM on 10/16/2006 and I received the organs on 10/17/2006.

They are all very well aware of my triathlon and charity activities (they actually have taken important roles in the charity) and have come to watch me race.  Maybe I should do a little slide show video thing like Yanti was suggesting, without all of the girly scrap booking parts.

I am taking tomorrow off and going to their town to visit the cemetery with them.  I go there every time I am near the town (about 1 1/2 hours south of me) and leave something that they know is from me.  Then they call me and make me or send me an e-mail that makes me all teary eyed.

I dont get anything from drinks so I will have some grape uncrustables, peanut butter filled pretzels, lances cheese/peanut butter crackers, bananas etc on the bike.  On the run mostly gels, will shop at each stop on the course and prolly grab a banana oreo and such there and have my banana laffy taffy if I need a sugar kick.  I tried the chicken broth last year in KY and HATED it!.....maybe because it was 93 degress all day I dont know but that wasnt for me

Yeah, during the run, I will probably just take in whatever they have.  Each aid station at silverman is a virtual buffet!  Most likely, nothing solid though.  To much gas and burping if I do.

I can eat on the bike easier, so I was thing chips-a-hoy cookies or granola bars to have something solid.  GE works ok for calories, but I ordered Infinit, so I'm hoping it gets here before this weekend.  I want to test it on my last long bike - 6 hours, blech....

that's a sad story.  Glad you do so well to carry on with the memory and the gift.  That's the most important part.

Me too, now.  Straight up candy is too sweet for me now.  But I do like things with some substance to them rather than pure sugar.  Like snickers, or baby ruth bars.  They at least have a little crunchy/salty part to them.

Milky way or 3 muskateers, as much as I love them, are too sweet now and give me a weird sugar rush.

sugar is the hardest thing for me to give up.  I love candy and I get in phases where I eat tons of it.  Right now, not so much.  Once in awhile.

Halloween is always a tough time of year.

2 piece try suit for the swim and bike.  All my tri suits cause my underarms to chafe againts the seams and it almost rubs my arm raw during a 10k or longer.  So I plan to yank off the tri top and put on a fresh dri-fit poly T-shirt for the run.  I may need to pack a nylon jacket depending on the temps.  Last year was warm, but it has been cold the last week, and I fear temps like that.  I would be much faster, but I worry about extra clothes or hypothermia or cold head/fingers, etc...

I keep thinking about that myself.....its like dang how will I feel after 112 miles in my tri bottoms.....but heck its not gonna be that much better in cycling shorts....then I also sometimes rub my arms but I cant think if my tri top has caused that in any of the halfs i did this summer.  I shoulda taken notes!

I'm weird in some ways.  If it's there, I eat TONS of it.  Ice cream, candy, cookies, cake, whatever.  But I rarely have the craving enough to buy it.  Most of the time, the wife gets them becuase she just wants a taste, and then I gorge on whats left becuase it just sits there.

Left over halloween candy is the worst.  The last few kids are SO luck at my house.  I just pour whatever is left over into their bags.  It's a LOT sometimes.  (but, I pick out a couple of my favorite items first!)

It also helps to buy candy that I don't like, so I don't pick at it before/during/after halloween.

I gave thought about wearing cyling shorts for more padding, but I never had an issue in the past during my HIMs with the tri shorts.  I should wear them this weekend to make sure.

I just realized in my last to oly's that my arms get rubbed raw during the 10k, ONLY with my tri tops.  that's ok for a 10k, but 20 more miles would suck...
