Artemis - 2013-03-01 10:37 AM Hey, Salty, should we start a new thread before Yanti's IM?  That way we can put all the cheering together. I think it might get long!

There is a virtual racer thread in CoJ that she started. There are some non-manatees (is there such a thing?) in there as well. I'm guessing that it will grow as the day goes on.

I'll jump over there and join the mobs of Yanti supporters!!!!!!!!!

Oh, that's even better.  We should just use that.

mn_av8or - 2013-02-28 1:05 PM Feb went waaaay to fast... especially when I have my first half marathon coming up.  I'm not really scared about not finishing but I have a feeling it will be a crap time unless I can finally shed this chest cold.

You'll do fine.  My tips are: line up appropriately at the start, drink when they offer it, bring a gel to have at the halfway point.  If the race is local, ride your bike on the course a week or two beforehand (yes, this weekend!) for familiarization.

Thanks, I only taken gels when I've biked because I was scared of how they would react with me running but I suppose I should try a couple out before the actual race.  Bike the course before the race?!  You realize that I am in Minnesota right? Tongue out

While we are waiting for her race to start... Cool

I went to a "kickoff party" last night for one of the local sprint races. Instead of doing an online signup they just have a "party" at the local LBS and they bring in vendors etc. It was good. I signed up for the race. I got to meet a local pastor-7-time-Ironman-finisher. And I got to say hi to Coach Andie, she said they miss me at swim squad and asked about Oceanside. Then I went downstairs to the bike part of the store where I registered to win a free bike fit (when I left there were only 4 people registered) and FINALLY found a container of PowerBar Perform. I tried the Perform this morning at swim and it is salty! Not good like our own Salty but bad salty like take a gatorade and add a cup of salt. I guess I can get used to it, like the nose plug. Oh, and I ordered a Baracuda HotHead swim cap, hopefully I'll get that next week. 4 weeks and counting LaughingSurprised

I have a 1:30p meeting that I can't get out of - I think I'll make the others come to my office, so while we discuss legislative issues I can have ironman live playing in the background! That wouldn't be too distracting, would it?

I brought my little laptop in from home today. I'll be hacking using a wireless next door, since we are limited in what we use in house. Certain stuff is blocked, others are watched. I've figured out that no one cares about BT at work.

I am doing a race simulation tomorrow AM. Our coach wants me to do a warm-up then 11 miles at marathon pace + 1 minute then run to the track where I will be doing 2 x 2 miles @ marathon pace drinking exactly what is on course only every mile. It should be good. Then I have a HM next weekend so, some serious simulation before I leave for Texas.
