you realize for a woman it is an actual surgery, and not a simple doctor office procedure?

When my wife and I researched it, we found it was a lot safer for me to have the procedure done than to have her do it. Like Meh said with a woman its an operation and for a guy it's an in and out quicky. I was back to myself after two weeks.

Yep. I know some women who have elected to have it done as an addition to an already-scheduled surgery. They were already "in there" so did it all at the same time. Otherwise, it doesn't seem worth the risk since it's so simple for the guy..

Baby; I was born that way. I have what's called CBAVD or congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens. Been shooting blanks my whole life and never knew until we couldn't make a baby.

On a side note I was born after my dad had a vasectomy. They told him to sit on the couch, just like him he goes and plays softball after having surgery that morning. He gets hit in the balls, so here I am a couple of years later. I owe my life to softball and bad decisions.

Morning TAN........I had a fun filled weekend of e-stim on my foot, ice, and stretching.......and olympic couch surfing watching the olympics.  And being on call.  I know everyone is jealous.  I also did laundry and changed the bed just to get TOTALLY crazy.  now being tortured in the office. I need to start writing the great american novel or something.

Hi TAN!
Well I got my shop all set up and spent my weekend messing around, learning and making lots of sawdust! Today I'm going to start my first real project. Wish me luck! Oh and I think I need a table saw!

Yesterday, after coming out of church to a stone cold dead battery and getting that fixed, I had a great afternoon run. I then went in the house to shower as my wife and older boys were leaving when I heard a loud BOOM!

I run out to see what happened only to find that my wife did not raise the garage door before she tried to back out! What a pain! Basically had to take the door apart so I could close it and the I had to put it back together!

So now it looks like I have to buy 2 new garage doors!

Let me help here.... Yes, you need a table saw.  There is no *think* about it

Howdy, Kate!    I'm slightly envious...  what I wouldn't do to have my own wood shop

Why I do believe you're correct!

You are always welcome to come down and play with mine! Including my new table saw. It was a toss up between the table saw and a band saw. I decided on the table saw due to the greater versatility.

Don't chop off a finger and don't use it in the middle of the night.  Bane of my existence 70 year old men using the table saws in the middle of the night and chopping off their fingers.

What time of day is a good time to chop them off?

Hmm... that is a rather odd commonality. Note to self  - don't woodwork when tired.

Have you heard of the SawStop saw?  It stops the blade if the blade touches a finger.  Here is a video in which the inventor touches his finger to the blade.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTUOhYcw4ZY

If you are serious about woodworking, you may want to look at their web site.

http://www.sawstop.com/table-saws/by-model/professional-cabinet-saw?gclid=CNjU9LrIwrwCFQ_l7AodfHEAGQ#overview

Prices range from $1600 for a 10" contractor saw to $2900 for a 10" professional cabinet saw with large extension table.

I have seen the demo live where they use a hot dog instead of a finger to simulate an accident.  An aluminum block is slammed into the blade when it detects a change in impedance at the blade. It is amazing.  The blade goes from 3250 RPM to 0 in a 20 or so microseconds.

OMG, yes!  If I could get any table saw without money being a concern, this is THE ONE.  Then again, at this point I could almost just sell a bike and get the saw.    Hmmmm.......

I am building a new garage/shop at the lake house.  I will get a SawStop when I move my shop there.  The current shop is my basement in town.  It is major work to get heavy tools into that shop.  I will be selling a great Delta Unisaw at that point maybe with the house.

I wish I had the space, money and time for a woodshop and/or a garage with a lift. Have fun creating beautiful things. Measure x2 cut x1 safety X10! If you have not gotten them yet, Get safety glasses and wear them!!

Yes I have both safety glasses and a mesh face shield and I do wear them.... Most of the time. . As for the cutting off of fingers I was there when my dad ran his thumb into the table saw, though he did not cut it off it did leave a lasting impression!

Morning TAN.

Btw FYI I really dislike the whole concept of pink tools and toolboxes!

Hey!  I resemble that.  Just signed up with a new gym today, so for the first time since last February I have a pool that I can get to during work hours.  Did what is essentially my first real swim since B2B (have I ever mentioned that I did a 140.6?) and I was about killing myself to do the 750y that I managed to get in, and I HURT.  Ho Lee Crap.

Came back to the new office (my company moved to a new building recently, hence the new gym) to find that the cafeteria had nothing better than gas station type sandwiches.  Ugh.  Chicken salad sandwich out of a plastic wrapper. Yay.

3 1/2 months to Alcatraz... time to figure out this SBR thing, again.

I really friggen hate it when people send an email, ask that I act on it, then immediately follow up the email with a phone call because they want to make certain I read it and maybe we can talk about it when in reality all I need to do is just reply to the email.

I HATE THIS SALES PERSON!

Ha!  The only race I'm signed up for so far is IMChoo... I should probably sign up for more races.  And figure out that SBR thing again, too.
