I don't care if I'm 70 when it happens. I didn't even get that as a kid. That has to be a great feeling. I've had some type of job since I was 14. I kinda forget what it's even like to just bum around. x2. HOWEVER, had a couple month hiatus from the jobs when the companies downsized. Had severance to pay the bills so that wasn't a worry - and a new job lined up, but MAN did I love the time off. It took about two weeks to get used to not being on a schedule, then I thought to myself "I could REALLY get used to this" (the not working part). |

I've always had a job too, but the jobs I had when I was a kid wereen't hard labor. Delivering papers, working at a car wash, working at Hardeee's (the food place). Always worked with good people and we always had a good time. |

You've got to be a pretty large sized human being to wear an XL bike jersey the way that bike jerseys are supposed to be worn. No doubt. I'm a big guy, and still wear a large.... However, I deal with length issues rather than width. I'm reasonably skinny, but can't find any off-the-rack shirts that don't look like I have a belly shirt on, unless I go XL, then it looks like I'm swimming in it.... |

Poor kid, he got so many things so much worse off than I did, and that's saying something.
Wow... yeah that's rough. I just worked cuz I wanted the nicest bike, rollerblades, nintendo, etc. and my parents wouldn't/couldn't buy those things for me all the time like some of my spoiled friends. I'm way better of than them now, though because of it. My parents were super cheap. So I worked so I could buy stuff. |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I've had a couple stretches of unemployment as an adult but was so stressed out about dwindling savings, a mortgage, and kids to feed that I definitely can't count that as time off. I remember I saved up in college to spend a semester overloaded on technical classes and not worrying about a job at the same time... that would have been a first. But then most of the cash was stolen and I ended up with a 30 hour job and 6 hard classes. ![]() |

They will NEVER go hungry - but healthy food. I also said that I would buy them any kind of athletic gear they want, no questions asked, such as bikes, rollerblades, baseball glove, etc.... However, they will have to work for Xbox, movies, games, etc. They won't get that from me unless is x-mas or something. |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So - what's the worst job you ever had?
Mine was in college. I was a repo man for a rent to own furniture company. This guy and I would drive around in this truck and go to a guys house that was late on his payment. He could give us a check or we would take his couch (or whatever). I still hate sleeper couches to this day. those things are heavy. |

I'm way better of than them now, though because of it. That's just a difference in situation, though. Work and motivation are still work and motivation. If a person is out there busting it is worth respecting. You had just as much to do with ending up in a good situation as I did with being in a crappy one - zero. Luck of the draw. |

Sensei![]() | ![]() - 2008-06-19 11:13 AM OK, im gunna rant here for a second. I"m going to preface it with the following: I paid my own way through school with the exception of one semester where I was too sick to work in the summer so my father paid for tuition and books that year. I then signed all of my tax credits over to him for two years. I just like to do it on my own. my sister, OTOH, had handouts all through school for everything, tuition books, she doesn't have any issues with taking money. Thats her deal, I don't feel the need for it to be "fair" or have the money be reciprocated or anything like that. OK, so she's living in Whistler at my parents cabin and has been for umm, 5 seasons. She spends all her money on clothes, skis and toys and asks for handouts for physiotherapy, tri club membership, flights to join my parents in hawaii.. etc etc.. the list is endless. My brother is similar to her too.. but anyway, where I'm going with this is... she lives in the cabin there, doesn't pay rent or bills or anything... I would LOVE to live there for a season when I get back, I would pay rent and the bills... anything.. but she has one of the two downstairs rooms that are joined by a thin wall and the upstairs room is for my parents when they come. ... So although I'm cool with all of what she takes, I'm finally getting frustrated with her living arrangement. the end. (I have moved back into my parents place in the last 6 months to save money for my trip, so I can't be on THAT high of a horse) Are you the oldest? |

When I got married my wife's entire college bill was hanging over her head in student loans - while her brother who went to a much more expensive school had almost none. Parents' choices - give money to the kid who is always saying "but I'll end up dropped out" instead of the one busting . Worst part is that I paid off her loans - meaning I paid for her college after she graduated - yet her parents regularly tell people that they paid for her college and get all loud and angry if anyone suggests otherwise. |

I've had a job since I was 12.. i realized yesterday that on the 30th I will be unemployed for the first time in 13 years and I'm only 25! That's surprising... Usually the youngest is the most spoiled..... mega props to you... |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() jdwright56 - 2008-06-19 2:14 PM So - what's the worst job you ever had?< 9th and 10th grade I went to a private school in the next town - a pricey one. I got some financial aid but most of the tuition was from me working 40 on school grounds the entire summer. They did this for me because I managed the 99th percentile on the entrance exam. I didn't get paid - literally all pay went straight to my bursar account, I never even saw numbers. First year was okay, it was all just outdoor landscaping and painting. Second year suuuuuuuuucked, though. They had cut the landscaping budget when the main guy went to jail for dealing coke in his spare time. I ended up spending the whole summer tooling around the convent, alone, running down the equivalent of an endless honeydo list, but a list made by three floors of 80 year old nuns. |
