What's everyone got planned for the weekend.  Hopefully if the weather holds up, I'll be doing about 150ish miles on the bike this weekend.

well this is interesting, accdg to garminconnnect:

"Garmin Connect selectively applies corrections to depict a more realistic representation of your elevation experience. Activities recorded from devices without a barometric altimeter are enabled with Elevation Corrections by default. Alternatively, activities recorded by devices with a barometric altimeter generally contain accurate elevation data and therefore Elevation Corrections are disabled by default. For those users who are familiar with the MotionBased Gravity service, this is the same service."

910 is I believe a barometric device, while the 305 was GPS.  So maybe I shouldn't be applying the elevation corrections tab?

You probably shouldn't be applying them.  My garmin 500 has been pretty flawless in reading elevation with the exception of yesterday which was some kind of fluke.  It's actually pretty scary how similar the elevation readings are when I do the same ride.

TSimone - 2012-07-06 7:15 PM Heading to Charlotte in the am for a week. Found a great place to run and a small cycling group. My sister's neighborhood allegedly has an Oly sized pool. We'll see. Got the roadie strapped to the back of my Yukon and I'm ready to get back on it after abandoning it for 4 months.

There's also this nasty little hill down there I like to run up. Can't wait to reacquaint myself with it.

Fred, seriously I do apologize for jumping in your group and this will be the only time, but I started to look here after the Bryan situation (all the while understanding that you aren't going to read this post).  ANYWAY, dude, I'm in Charlotte.  Shoot me a PM if you can ride Monday night at 6pm from around Uptown.  Really good group ride.  Also, good ride Thursday night at 6:30p out of NoDa.  Both are sporty enough, but not brutal.  Great Masters swim group at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center through the week ($4/hour).  Very welcoming to visitors.  I try to swim MWF at noon. Fred, again, apologies.

Mentor groups is the happening place to be!!!

That being said...I have noticed that tri talk has been really tame for a Friday with some decent discussion.

Rudy is trying to talk me into a roadie that's a little small because it's a lot of awesome... and being sold for about 1/2 the actual value.

Bad influence or good influence?

Well, assuming you're getting a good deal...worst thing that happens is you find out you don't like how it fits and you sell it for the same price (if not more) than you paid.

Don't think of it as "small." Instead think of it as "nimble."

Dude, if you are able to run in your race this weekend then obviously you did not ride hard enough.

Brick tomorrow: 5-ish hours in the mountains and 2 hours followed by 2 hours on my feet. Doc cleared me to give 1 hour of that a go at running. My 20 minute runs have been going well. Fingers crossed.

Got in a pretty good ride after work.  Got in some climbing, and also got in some hard spurts on the flats trying to keep up with traffic.  I think the cars in back of me were surprised I could go from a stop at a red light and stay within 2 car lengths of the car in front of me as we got up to 30 mph before hitting another red light.  A little tailwind didn't hurt either.
