211 on the Dr scale this AM, i had my annual physical.

I saw 208 this past week, but had a couple parties and a BT GTG on thurday for burgers and beers did not help.

I lost a friend yesterday in a bike race, a very bad crash, sever head trauma, he passed this AM. Put a little post on Facebook about it. Makes you not want to ride or race, but that is not what he woulda wanted.

Rudy- I am so sorry to hear about your friend.

Didn't get a chance to weigh in this weekend, or didn't dare might be the right way to put it. Ran a really fun 7k on Saturday that Kelly and I have done for the past 3 years. Legs were still pretty sore from a horrible 15 mile run 2 days previous so I was just hoping to hang on to 8 minute miles. Almost 9,000 runners helped slow me down enough in the first mile that I gave up on sub 8's. Finished with a big smile on my face knowing it was St. Patricks day, my workout was done for the day, we had free drink coupons to the local Irish Tavern, had a room booked for the night and had our kids dropped off with reliable adults. The next 24 hours was ours and we took full advantage of it. This of course leads back to the not weighing in this weekend. I promise I will be good this weekend.

Morning folks.  Morning swim for me today.  I was suppose to do it yesterday but instead slept after a 1AM wake up call from my systems administrator.  Love working with the guy but sure hate hearing from him in the middle of the night.  Given that it is just a tad over freezing this morning I think I will head to the heated pool.  ART later this morning.  Nothing serious but the hip is starting to stiffen up so just going to go get it taken care of.

Just a swim today. I feel like I am getting away with something after last week. Less than 2 weeks away from my first race. It is a run but I am already anxious about it. Go figure.

Run and a swim for me today.  It was 70 degrees this morning on my run..no complaints.

James: I get really anxious too about racing..mainly because I want to race up to my perceived ability or have a good placement.  I have recently just tried to convince myself to have fun and let the chips fall...we do the work and they usually fall where we want em .

Thanks everyone for the well wishes, i really appreciate them

Stuff like this really puts things into perspective, too bad sometimes we don't realize that till it is too late.

In the end, all we can do is get back on the bike, celebrate the life we have, as the fallen would have wanted us to do, that is who we are, and what is expected of us. To give up or quit means that the message sent has failed, and fear wins.

Hi Team.  I haven't been training. I am fighting off this stupid cold which is making me feel as though i am in a fog.  My ears are crackling a bit today which may be a good sign!!   I figure taking the break in the first couple of week of training won't be a big set back and is better for me in the long run.  I can tell i don't feel good because i can't even consider doing anything strenuous - maybe tomorrow!  I am sad to be missing such awesome weather for training.

I did weigh in yesterday and appeared to be down 1lb but i'll check later in the week to see if that's the case. sickness might be throwing me off.

Just got out of the Dr's office- the low down is I have a torn meniscus. I have a scheduled appointment to see the Orthopedic Surgeon on 4/9.

In the meantime there will be some swimming and maybe some bike sessions depending on how the knee feels. It could be worse. My guess the May race is a no go and Eagleman a possible No-Go. It all depends what the ortho says. I might have to look at some swim races

Morning from the west coast.   OK, afternoon....  I've had three really great weeks and suddenly I've got a motivation problem.  Probably all part of taper.  Backing things off to about 70%, and a bit tired, so maybe that plays into it was well.  I am certainly not feeling spritely.

Did get my 4 miles in this morning, somewhat hilly.  Hips (tightness) seem to be hanging in, they get a bit tight sitting at work but seem to resolve (knock wood) over 12-24 hours.

Swim tonight.

Currently obsessively watching the Oceanside weather.  I know that weather forecasts today mean nothing 10-12 days from now, but I still do it anyway, just to drive myself crazy I guess.  I would have to make a decision whether I would race if it was raining due to medication issues.  Probably would, just wouldn't be a no brainer

Rough news Thomas, although at least you know the what.  Now to figure out the course of action.  And yeah, get some swim races in.  Stay as active as you can so you stay sane.  Get back into some strength training too maybe, although your just about at your busy time work wise so that might help the mental mindset.
