My son's 1st birthday is Sunday. I wanted to make him a cake, but it has cow's milk and he can't have that yet. What should I make him?

You could make a creamed cake and use shortening for the fat and make frosting that doesn't involve milk.

Sharkie - 2008-08-01 2:22 PM ok.. i went to the store for cupcakes and donuts... i'm sooooooooooooo baddddddddd...

chocolate or white cupcakes? I got one of each last week.....the chocolate had blue icing and the white one had bright orange.

Because I was buying treats for everyone at the office I bought a 24pk.. 12 white with white icing and 12 chocolate with chocolate icing.. i had a white with white icing cupcake

i also got a dozen donuts for the non cake eaters...

My son's 1st birthday is Sunday.  I wanted to make him a cake, but it has cow's milk and he can't have that yet.  What should I make him?

Hey nEwLeAf ... make him a cake using non-cow's milk. Goat milk or something? Can he have that? He's 1, he might not yet know the difference.

That's really, really funny.

You can make a dairyless cake, of things he can have ... lots of alternate recipes out there. Could even use one that subs applesauce for butter ...

Have you considered using breast milk or formula?  I bet there are some vegan cake options out there.

You could just tell him to HTFU and serve cake with cow's milk.

I mean, it's not like it's good for you anyway...it's cake.

We gave Jacob Ice Cream cake for his first birthday...

That was my question. There are pics of both my sis and I eating regular old cake on our 1st birthdays. Assuming little-leaf doesn't have a milk allergy, I'm not sure...

because of leftinthedust.  She's a little over-the-top when it comes to giving the kids new foods.  Doc recommends no cow's milk until after the 1st birthday.  heaven help me if I gave him anything that had a milk product in it.

So have his party the day after his first birthday.  Therefore making cow's milk ok because it's after his 1st birthday.

Eff that - seriously. Give him a piece of freakin' cake. He probably won't eat most of it and will get the frosting in his hair and then you can take pictures. That's the WHOLE point of a first birthday.

I had a dream last night that I was a LOT younger and I went over to my neighbor's house, who was an uber hot asian girl cuz her parents were away.  We were in bed together but NOT doing anything (it was not THAT kind of dream).  Which is funny, because I never had a hot asian neighbor.  I was VERY happy and in love with this girl.  Then her dad came home unexpectedly and I got scared and had to escape through the house not being seen, half dressed.

Thoughts?

lvthgme - 2008-08-01 1:35 PM I guess I would assume an allergy.

Saw a sign at one of my customer's shops today that made me think about you, it said.

Free LOF with any flush.

I actually thought, free lof?  They can't just give that away.

Then I thought about it some more and realized it was a free oil change.  It took a minute to get it straight in my head though.

Our pediatrician always told us to wait until they were one, so technically on their 1st birthday they are good to go.
