Hope everyone had a great weekend. I picked wrong days to work out. In my normal fashion, I did my long run in the cold and wind and snow pelting me in the eyes on Saturday. We were supposed to do 13km but cut it short it was miserable.

Today was spin inside and a Tempo run and the sun was shining and no wind all day.

Oh well I am pretty excited I scored a set of Zipp 404's for my tri bike they are in great shape and well not many people ride 650s like me. I would have never considered them as an option for me but at this price I can't say no. I know that I can do a bazillion things to get faster without needed them. But as I said someone on BT remembered me from talking about my bike. They are parting out their bike to sell it and gave me a SWEET deal.

I might not be fast but I bet all the chicks will dig it.   HAHAH kidding ladies, I don't normally use that term. But it sounded funny and suiting.

Spanky,  You're going to look HOT on those Zipps.  This "chick" digs it!!

Doug, need a pic of the new bike asap

I had a good day today.  After a couple days of rest, I put in my longest run ever--12 miles in 2:07.  Had a side stitch durin the last mile, but other than that, no bad hurts!  Making progress is a good feeling.

Have a good week everybody.

I think you meant Tony.

Won't get the bike for another month or so, but it will look like this.  Mine will have Ultegra electronic shifters & derailleurs, same crank.  Might have different wheels, they're building up the frame so they said we might be able to get some better wheels on it without increasing the price, but we'll see.

Sweet looking bike, Tony.

Great run today, Jayne.  Glad you're feeling better.

I took a quick run on the edge of the surf tonight in the rain.  It was such a surreal feeling, I'm not sure how to describe it.  Was hoping to get a glimpse of the moon, jupiter and venus; but the clouds aren't playing along tonight.

I'm finding the standard crankset on my Foil a bit tricky on steeper hills, I'm thinking of getting the LBS to either swap it for a compact or change the cassette, which option do you think would be best???

Jayne - great running! Getting speedy!

David - running barefoot just where the surf washes up on the wet sand in the moonlight is one of my favourite short runs, keep at it, its great when the moon suddenly comes out from behind a cloud or the stars are reflected around your feet

Looks sweet. Di2 shifters as well? Nice.  I need to become an IT guy in Washington!

They're the Ultegra Di2 shifters, actually only 200 bucks more than SRAM red mechanical. I do get a good discount from my LBS + a bit of creative financing (thanks Sam!) to make it possible.

I lost a battle with my alarm clock a couple of weeks ago... and regretted it all morning. Today's pearl of wisdom comes from Bree Wee, once again:

"Dear Bree Wee, Time to remember why you set that alarm clock, some dreams only happen when you wake up early to go run them down. Sincerely, the part of you that wants to sleep."

Very true!!! Make the day happen, peeps!!!

Good day around here.  Drew wrestled in regionals, their end of the year tournament.  Won first match, lost second match then won the next 2 matches.  All his wins were by pin.  The last match was for 3rd place, he wrestled a kid that had thrashed him earlier in the year, just tossed him around.  Drew was down going into the 2nd period, had a good 2nd period and was up by a couple.  3rd period he scored a few more points and pinned the kid with :20 left.

Not sure what it is about watching your kid in a one on one sport, Sam said she realized at one point during the match she was squeezing our daughter in a bear hug, I usually end up hoarse by the end of the day from yelling so much (and I am by far not the loudest parent/coach out there).  We tried video taping in the past and the camera jumps around so much it's not worth trying anymore.

Then I went to our LBS and put a deposit down on a new bike, should be ready to go sometime near the end of March.  Specialized Venge with Ui2, I'm going to look awesome coming in 15th place.

This is awesome Tony.  No doubt Drew has watched his mom & dad and learned to never give up.  Congrats!

BTW - I have found it is so much harder wathcing your kids.

Congrats on the bike too.

Wait...Tony and Sam let Drew watch them wrestle???  That seems a little weird to me.

I'm back!  SEVEN weeks until Boston......egads!

Did 2 runs in the mountains.....at elevations starting at 7000.  Figure I should be able to add a few miles for lung exertion, I sounded like a freight train.  No flats - all ascents or descents.  Gorgeous, though.  Not good snow for skiing, bit of a bummer.  Sunday's run was at 9 degrees to start - don't know how you Northerners do it!!

Couldn't agree more.  It's the reason I am dragging my a$$ out of bed at 4:30am MWF to hit Master's Class.  Problem is that damn dream can move faster than I can swim (RIGHT NOW!).

Since Doug forced the topic, there are 197 days until MOO.  I haven't started any training plan for it yet, February will be my lightest month since MOO '11 AND I don't feel behind.   Going with the flow beats stressing this early...really.

David- nothing to be gained from feeling bad all day. Turn it into a positive, set your clock tonight when you get home and get ready to crush it tomorrow! ...oh, wait, is it tonight there right now???

I had dental work this AM. He removed my upper left front crown and then worked on my right upper front tooth. I now have temps on both for 3 weeks and then will have new front upper teeth 3/19.

I broke the left upper decades (35-40 year) ago when I flew off the front of my bike in a skid and hit the road face first. It was the day before Mother's Day! The crown has been replaced over the years but was always larger than the neighboring tooth. Now they will match in size and with the whitening they had me do the colors will match!

What was weird was swimming at lunch time today. When I started I could not yet feel all of my upper lip due to the injections. By the time I was done all feeling had returned. Luckily there are no restrictions workout-wise. Just no hard foods like carrots.

Since people have started their IM countdowns already I'll start a fun weekly tradition I used for Canada last year.   Myself and 2 other girlfriends raced together so each week I would send an inspirational quote out.  We collected them all and put them in a memory book of our training adventure.  It's fun to look back on.

first quote: (modified from Fort Minor)

THIS IS 10% LUCK

20% SKILL

15% CONCENTRATED POWER OF WILL

5% PLEASURE

50% PAIN

AND 100% REASON TO REMEMBER THE NAME................

Great bike Tony, did you get a compact crank or standard?

I'm finding the standard crankset on my Foil a bit tricky on steeper hills, I'm thinking of getting the LBS to either swap it for a compact or change the cassette, which option do you think would be best???

Jayne - great running! Getting speedy!

David - running barefoot just where the surf washes up on the wet sand in the moonlight is one of my favourite short runs, keep at it, its great when the moon suddenly comes out from behind a cloud or the stars are reflected around your feet

Compact crank for me, lol I also run an 11-28 cassette, lots of hill climbing so I need those extra couple gears to make it over.

That is one great looking bike.  What size is a compact crank?  170 mm is standard?  (mine are 160 mm, but I'm guessing that is kind of standard for a small bike - 51cm)

Yeah Compact crank has a 50 tooth outer ring and a 34 tooth inner ring.  170 is the length.  160 is actually a very short crank, tough to find.  Standard on smaller bikes is usually 170, mediums are 172.5 and larges are 175.  No idea why those are the standards but that's what you typically find on most bikes these days.
