10 miler done. I had better weather than Arend, no rain or snow. It was just cold. But Florida cold is not quite like other cold. It just feels that way to us.

Flatwoods Ramble RR

Great job to everyone racing this weekend!

Congrats on your strong finish! Sounds like fun.

Sudden crash: I took an unintended rest day yesterday because it just felt too cold to go out on the bike, and I'd done my long run Saturday. I also felt like I might be coming down with something. Today I feel fine and the weather looks good. Still cold though, but it should warm up this afternoon.

But, I'm just kinda sitting here.. blah.. Feeling a bit downer on training. I'm gonna get into the "just do it" mindset and get a workout done today, but I'm surprised at my complete lack of desire to.. I'm in week 11 of a 16 week HIM plan. Last week was my biggest build to date.

Glad it's a recovery week.

I am in MIA boat as well.  Was off at a conference last week and the long days made it tough to check in.

I did find out how brutal it is to ride the bike on a trainer without a fan though...ditto with the treadmill.  I was doing workouts in my room and the hotel exercise room.  I think I lost about 5 pounds each session from sweating so much.  I had to bail one day on my intervals because I was so hot and HR was elevated so much.

I much prefer my pain cave at home and running in the snow!

Great job to everyone racing last weekend and the great results...makes me want to race!

Arend, Salty and Reece - congrats to all on what looks like a great weekend of racing for the group. Can't wait to hear the particulars for the 5k Salty - I am sure you killed it.

In week 11 you are kinda supposed to feel like that, I think - hang in there for the next couple of days and your mojo will return, no doubt. Just relax a bit and let your body absorb all of the training this week and you will be good to go without a doubt.

For me it seems like I may have finally managed to catch that cold bug that is going around. I figure the best course of action is to continue to ignore it and act like it is not there. I have always had tremendous success with that recovery protocol.

x2, including the red stuff, which shouldn't be!

I think you're exactly where you should be, though. Sometimes pull-back weeks are harder than build weeks. Often, in fact. Okay, I'm going to go with 'usually.'

Asalzwed - 2013-02-18 11:20 AM Been a little down with a cold all week. More or less had a forced taper because if it and managed more than a 30 second PR in a 5K yesterday. I'll do a RR later, it was a pretty exciting race!

The girl needs serious help. This is a MUST-READ!!!

What does everyone have on tap for today?

I had a good, tough workout on the trainer this morning.  My legs are still a bit sore from the race on Sunday but for the most part I seem to have recovered well.  We'll see how running goes this afternoon.

SBR today. 3,000 in the pool this morning. Nice to see I can consistently get that much in the time I have now. Warm-up, then just kept cycling through as 200-200-100 on short rest.

Also trying to figure out the weather here. 40's on Friday. Woke up to 11 on Sunday. Hit at least 48 yesterday, if not higher. 13 this morning and was blowing snow all night (not really accumulating though). -1 predicted for tonight. Seem to have used a bi-polar groundhog this year.

Half marathon done!

Old HM PR was 1:48:20

New HM PR is 1:38:09

My Garmin measured it 0.2km short but at the end of the first loop it was spot on for the right distance so I'm calling it accurate.    I haven't seen the official results so I don't know exactly where I placed but I think it was 6th or 7th OA.

Needless to say, I am absolutely thrilled with the time!

Arend...that is awesome. Congrats on a very solid time.

Transitioning to NZ time so I'm keeping even stupider hours than usual ... I seem to have swim strength training (dryland cords) and a short trainer ride scheduled for about midnight.

Headed to the pool this morning, got into the locker rooms, and realized I didn't have goggles. Doh!!!

I decided to go back tonight and maybe do a swim run brick.

Nada. I'll probably get the bike out for the first time in a couple of months and ride around the neighborhood. I gotta get the legs moving again, I've barely used them since Sunday.

Have a great day everyone!

Was hoping to get a short run this morning but the daughter got up an hour early...have a lunch time bike with some threshold work planned...although my legs are pretty mad from the weekend still.

I stopped trying to figure out the weather in the midwest .

Something hard under the arch of your foot that you can roll back and forth.  I've felt PF coming on in the past and used a golf ball with success.  I'm sure others have gone through it more than me and can offer bmore advice.

Thanks Niel,  I'm a little sheepish about going biking but from what I am reading swimming should be no problem, so I am hoping I can do that.
