I hate you, AVDP. I just hate you. Hit all my numbers, but blew up in the final sprint. I am obsessing about tomorrow. I think I will be ok once that's over. I just don't know how I'll do it. Thank to all of you for listening to me vent....my family is looking at me out of the corner of their eyes and whispering...

Stage 6 done, I feel way better than I did after stages 4 and 5. While we're all trembling at the thought of Stage 7, I'm also more than a bit worried about Stage 8...Blender is a tough one.

I'm with you on Stage 7. Its by far the cruelest day of this whole madness.

cornick -- yeah, I don't know wtf any of us are thinking at this, or any, point. Based on the posts here the past day, seems many among us are hitting the wall and questioning our sanity.

Somewhere in Singapore, David McQuillan is smiling (he's the founder of The Sufferfest).

My wife was still up, kid passed out hours ago. I said hi to her, went upstairs to change, came down in my bike clothes and she just looked at me and said "You're f^&king crazy" and then she went to bed. Hour and a half later, it's done. I took about 3 minutes between workouts to grab a bottle of water and take stock of my life. Once that got too depressing to think about, I hopped back on and went at it. Wretched was bad. I lost it towards the end. I'm allowing it though because I even surprised myself that I got that ride in.
i am now getting the same response, took the kids to bball practice came home and jumped on the trainer. Wife walks in the room, rolls her eyes and calls me an idiot! Of course I mumble some response that is barely human and continue on

Just tell her

I ran out of time this morning to do the second part of stage 7, despite my intention of doing them back to back. I'll do it this evening. Angels isn't so bad, but the Hunted is a little scary, definitely one of the harder ones.

Stage 6 - I freakin hate you. Was clearly looking past AVDP in preparation for the terror that is Stage 7 and I got my @ss kicked. Last couple of sets took me to the brink. Also had to restart this entire workout 7' in as my set up started to go on fritz and I lost power and HR. Just what I needed - extra time in a dark place.

It's just a good thing I am in charge and can assign someone else those tasks.

Stage 5 is complete though and moving forward.

I caught my leg trying to dismount my bike and nearly took the bike and myself over. Crashing on a bike trainer would be a new low for me.

I disagree that it is irrelevant. If you signed up and didn't start it then technically you dropped, no matter what the reason. You can separate it into two categories based on # registered and # that started stage 1.

Is anybody actually managing to accomplish the TSS ratings on the videos?

So far I'm only at 527 out of 637, or 83%.

  • Rubber Glove -- 77/81
  • ISLAGIATT -- 147/160
  • Revolver (pre 2012) -- 74/94
  • Hell Hath No Fury (pre 2013) -- 77/109
  • The Wretched -- 63/74
  • Extra Shot (pre 2013) -- 23/34
  • A Very Dark Place (pre 2013) -- 66/85

I'm at 92.7% of the target TSS. Worst TSS performance was Revolver at 77.6%, best was ISLAGIAT at 100%.

Just added mine up and it came out to 596. Also noticed I've set a bunch of new PR's via trainer road during this. Maybe its all worth it in some crazed way....

Done through Stage 7, 98.4% of TSS. I'm doing these at 100% of the FTP that Rubber Glove suggested after Stage 1, which is 281. The Trainer Road 20 min test I did two days before the ToS started suggested an FTP of 257, FWIW.

Through stage 6 I'm at 551 TSS. My best IF is 1.03 for Revolver, I guess I really like 1 minute sprints? My worst is ISLAGIATT at 0.82. Somehow I did AVDP night last at 0.97.

Rubber Glove: 76/81
ISLAGIATT: 155/160
Revolver: 85/91
HHNF: 104/109
Extra Shot: 34/34
Wretched: 72/74
AVDP: 84/85

Total: 610/634

96%

That seems about right. Other than ISLAGIATT I've been keeping the levels at 100% and doing my best to match powers, but have been a bit lot at times.

I hope a couple of you guys that rode this thing full tilt (or as close as you could manage) post a screen shot of your PMC chart from either Golden Cheetah or TrainingPeaks when this is over. I'd love to see what this did to everyone's TSB.

edit: Also, great job everyone. That is a lot of TSS everyone is putting up. Did most of you launch from 300/400ish weekly into this thing?

Stage 6 complete. They named it appropriately. That last interval killed me. Maybe that light jog before the workout was a bad idea.

"Fandom" in triathlon compared to other sports. If you're a sports fan and simply love to follow sport, why pick a sport that may offer a view of the start, the finish and a few moments in between?

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
