Rumor is it's supposed to rain for the next three days and that may wash all sorts of nastiness into the lake. Greaaaaat. OH and race day now shows 85 and T-storms. Yet the day after is 73 and sunny. Uhhh can we delay it 'til Monday? Hope your shoulder feels better K!!! Edited by mr2tony 2009-03-31 8:59 AM |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The weather here has not been too good. We had torrential rains the end of last week. More tonight & for the next few days. Sat. & Mon. both lookk good. Of course it's still early in the week. Pray that the forecast changes. The gunk in the lake is always there. Lake Ponchartrain is notoriously nasty. We may all glow in the dark for a few days. Just try to keep your mouth shut during the swim. And when the volunteers offer you water on the way back to T1, just swish & spit. |

Uhhh can we delay it 'til Monday? Hope your shoulder feels better K!!! First off, the triaathlon you chose to race involves a lake that has had "all sorts of nastiness" for fifty years. IIRC it was closed to all swimming for a long period of time. HTFU and rely on your double goggles to protect you. Hahahahahahahahahaha Second, if you don't like the Louisiana weather, wait a few minutes and it will change for you. Third, long range forecasts are nothing to hang your hat on, but accuewather shows a low of 63, high of 85, and "Breezy and warmer with periods of clouds and sunshine" Not ideal, but no thunderstorms in that forecast. |

First of all I didn't know the history of Lake Ponchartrain and I may double up on the wet suit, not just the goggles. The weather forecast I have is 85 with isolated TStorms. Accuweather sucks. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Weather update from local TV this AM: High 82, 20% chance of thunderstorms/showers on the Northshore. Won't affect the race since we will be on the Southshore. Not too bad. |

Won't affect the race since we will be on the Southshore. Not too bad. Awesome. It seems the major internet sites for weather change the forecast almost hourly. I actually wouldn't mind a shower during the run as it's going to be pretty warm. Well, warm relative to what I've trained in. Come August, I'll be begging for 82. |

Resident Curmudgeon ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 20% chance of rain around here is just noise. They can throw that out there on almost any day. Of greater concern for you guys might be the wind. Every forecast I see for Sunday says "Breezy," "Windy," even "Very Windy." Might be rough going. especially since it looks like they changed the bike course to include more of Haynes Boulevard along the lake. |

New user![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have looked and have never seen anything official on that. If you know where I can find an official statement that would be cool. |

I'm assuming it's accurate. |

New user![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks for the information. I would think they would post this information some place or include it in one of the email. Thanks again for the information. |

If all the race officials, who are just the absolute best people by the way, would sort of forget to go out on the bike course, then it would be easier. Eh.. it's just a little wind. So it might take me a little longer than I originally thought. The beer will still be cold when I get there. |

Up here in N Texas 20 mph wind is just a little breeze. We deal with every day. The wind is my mountain. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() http://blog.nola.com/running/2009/04/a_priority_for_ironman_organiz.html Just some stuff from the Times-Picayune on the race organization. Sounds like they've got it together and are planning for anything. The videos on that page are pretty cool, too. At least in that they kind of give you a glimpse of where we'll be. And as a random note, the lady in the cycling video won overall at our local race (Heatwave Classic) two years ago. She turned pro not to long after that. |

Regular![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Would anyone know if they are offering athlete tracking via the web or something like that so that my family might be able to have an idea as to when I will be finishing? They keep telling me that there are things to see in do in NO that are not directly related to hanging out at the finish line watching all of us finish, so some sort of tracking thing would be very useful. thanks |
