Buttercup 14334 | Subject: RE: Team Gear Goddesses Great idea! Here's mine: At 56/155 as of this morning. Sun 6/19 ride 40 miles = 96/155 (62% of goal) Tues 6/21 ride 12 miles = 108/155 (70% of goal) Fri 6/24 ride 12 miles = 120/155 (77% of goal) Sun 6/26 ride 40 miles = 160/155 (103% of goal) Which still leaves me Tues 6/28 to put in a few more miles (maybe at 111% of goal?) Go Goddesses! |

Veteran 293 The Emerald City | Subject: RE: Team Gear Goddesses I'm at 59 miles of my 100 mile goal. I plan to ride 20 miles tonight. 15 miles tomorrow and 10 miles on Sunday. If I miss any of these 3 days, I will combine the miles so my total for the weekend should be at least 45 miles. G3 |

Master 2447 Marietta, Ga | Subject: RE: Team Gear Goddesses Hey there, cutie pies. While you've been getting pedicures, eating chocolate truffles, reading Cosmopolitan, and trading idle banter here on BT, we've been out riding, which is precisely why we will summarily spank your cute little bottoms when this challenge is all zipped up on June 30th. The saddest part about this whole thing is that nothing was ever wagered. Should we place a bet or are the BT Cupcakes ready to throw in the towel? |

Extreme Veteran 456 Western Massachusetts | Subject: RE: Team Gear Goddesses This is guilt talking. I'm here as a supplicant begging mercy from the Goddesses. On Fridays I usually go mountainbiking with my little kid. He tops out around 8 mph, in half an hour of rugged ups and downs. I know the Goddesses wanted me to ditch the kid and go for a real ride on my road bike, but I spent the time in the park with my son after all. I hate the thought of letting the Goddesses down with my wimpy mileage. Please understand that I'm supposed to raise this child to be a decent human being and it requires sacrifices! But I'm barely eeking out my mileage: it'd be nice if my club rides didn't keep getting rained out! If anyone could go some extra miles for me I'd appreciate the help. My little kid's name is Gary and he really does like to hammer in the park with his Mom. Gwendal, at the 50% mark Edited by Gwendal 2005-06-17 9:09 PM |

Thanks, Bear, I appreciate the sentiment, but in that case I'd have to raise my goals, too, because they were based on my May mileage which also included a day of mountainbiking with my kid each week. I've always treated the mountainbiking day as sort of cross-training for road biking: it's my heavy hammer day. No, I'll stick to the terms. Just because it's hard doesn't mean I can't do it... especially with a little help from my friends. :-) Gwendal |

Master 2447 Marietta, Ga | Subject: RE: Team Gear Goddesses coredump - 2005-06-19 11:16 AM Some bad news fellow 'boners. My back issues have resulted in my being told to lay off the bike for a while. So, there is no way I'm going to be able to meet my goal. *Hopefully* by taking it easy this week, I'll be good to go for my race next weekend. I'm still good for me pledge, but I'd like to ask if I can be removed from the challenge, due to being told by doctor not to ride. This sucks. -C Renee, I need to file an official appeal. On doctor's orders, Chris (Coredump) can't ride and consequently, won't fulfill his quota. I'm asking that his "attainment on goal" be excluded from our overall rankings. Thank you. |

I guess the testy guys missed my response where I suggested that the team step up to the mound to pick up the slack! Last month I had knee surgery, I didn't realize I could just ask to be removed from the challenge!! I thought a team is a team, you go the distance with the team. If one falls, the rest carries. I sent out the signal and team Chycks were on it. Also, I was out of swimming for a week, came back and made my goal. It sounds like the same amount of time Chris will be off the bike, he is racing next weekend, no? just a thought... |

Elite Veteran 781 | Subject: RE: Team Gear Goddesses I don't mean to sound uncharitable (Get Well Soon, Coredump), but I think Nikki has a very valid point. I haven't counted the # of bones participating (say 30 as an example), but this would only require each team member remaining to ride 10 or so extra miles to make up for Coredump's sideline due to injury. But I'm only trying to apply a little logic here. I don't recall any of Motivated's trash talk upthread... |

But, you've turned down that request, so, whatever, I'll keep riding as much as I'm allowed, and we'll beat you anyway. Have fun! -C |
